Grand DesignTranscend Xplor

Grand Design's value / entry travel trailer — the volume half-ton bumper-pull line, a clear step up in finish and warranty from the price-leaders and a cross-shop against Jayco's Jay Flight SLX, Forest River's Salem / Wildwood and Aurora, Keystone's Passport and the Winnebago Micro Minnie. Every 2026 Xplor rides a bumper-pull tandem-axle chassis with residential-insulated R-9 walls on studs 16 inches on center, Titan Quad Seal weather sealing, an aluminum front cap and Strongwall aluminum sidewalls, a TPO roof over high-density insulation, a heated and enclosed underbelly, a true 60-by-80 residential queen bed, a power tongue jack, a universal docking station, a 12-volt refrigerator and 600-watt solar / 2,000-watt inverter prep. Sibling Transcend One (single-axle) and the larger base Transcend round out the family.

01 What Transcend Xplor is

Transcend Xplor is Grand Design's value / entry travel trailer — the volume half-ton bumper-pull line, and the affordable side of a maker better known for its full-profile fifth wheels. Grand Design, based in Middlebury, Indiana and a Winnebago Industries company since 2016, positions Xplor against the mainstream travel trailers — Jayco's Jay Flight SLX, Forest River's Salem / Wildwood and Aurora, Keystone's Passport and the Winnebago Micro Minnie — with a build and warranty aimed a step above the price-leaders.

The build is well-equipped for the value class. Every Xplor rides a bumper-pull tandem-axle chassis with residential-insulated R-9 walls on studs 16 inches on center, Titan Quad Seal weather sealing, an aluminum front cap and Strongwall aluminum sidewalls, high-density wood-framed walls and sliderooms, a TPO roof over high-density insulation and a heated and enclosed underbelly. Inside are a true 60-by-80 residential queen bed, a deep stainless sink, residential countertops, solid hardwood drawer fronts and upgraded residential furniture, with dedicated trash-can and pots-and-pans drawers and a built-in paper towel holder. A power tongue jack, a universal docking station and an all-in-one utility center are standard.

The systems provisions are strong for the price. Every Xplor carries a 12-volt refrigerator and 600-watt solar prep with a 30-amp controller prep and 2,000-watt inverter prep — roof and wiring provisions rather than an installed panel. For 2026 Grand Design adds an exterior laundry rack, Starlink prep and flush-mount and accent LED lighting. RVUSA files ten 2026 Xplor plans; six are profiled in depth below — from the light rear-bath 22RBX and the lightest bunkhouse 23BHX to the flagship double-over-double 27DBX.

02 Floorplans profiled in depth

Six 2026 floorplans are profiled in full with RVUSA-verified specifications, spanning the line from the light rear-bath couples plan and the lightest bunkhouse to the flagship double-over-double family trailer: two rear-bath plans, two bunkhouses, a rear-living plan and the 27DBX.

Body specifications (lengths, exterior heights, width, tanks, sleeping, slides and awnings) are verified against the RVUSA structured records for the 2026 Xplor roster. Dry weight (UVW), GVWR, payload (CCC) and tongue (hitch) weight are published per plan, and for every plan the base dry weight plus payload equals the GVWR exactly — so all weight figures are shown unflagged with no derivation. Sleep capacities are the RVUSA-published figures. MSRP figures are starting MSRP; dealer (street) pricing runs below placard. Real loaded tongue weights run higher — weigh the loaded trailer and confirm against your vehicle's tow rating and payload.

03 Also in the 2026 line

Four further 2026 Xplor floorplans are catalogued here from published specifications but not yet profiled in depth — the compact 19BHX and 20MKX, the new-for-2026 21RLX rear-living / workcamper plan and the top-selling 24BHX family bunkhouse. Like the profiled plans, all publish GVWR per plan with dry weight plus CCC equal to GVWR exactly.

FloorplanDry wtGVWRPayloadTongueLength

24BHX5,756 lbs6,995 lbs1,239 lbs583 lbs29' 11"

Catalogued weights are verified against the RVUSA structured records for the 2026 Xplor roster; dry weight plus payload equals GVWR exactly on each. RVUSA does not publish a starting MSRP or slide count for the 19BHX or 21RLX (both newer floorplan records), so those fields are shown as unpublished. These plans are documented for reference and their full floorplan profiles are planned but not yet published.

04 How to choose

The Xplor line sorts by layout and weight tier. For the lightest, most affordable way in, the catalogued 19BHX is the smallest and cheapest plan, and among the profiled floorplans the 23BHX is the lightest bunkhouse — sleeping seven at 5,580 pounds dry on a 550-pound tongue — while the 22RBX is the lightest rear-bath couples plan. All suit a well-rated half-ton or a capable mid-size SUV.

Choose by where the space goes. The 22RBX and 26RBX put a full rear bathroom across the back (the 26RBX adds theater seating and the biggest cargo margin of the lighter plans); the 25MLX opens a rear living area with a front queen instead of bunks; and the bunkhouses climb from the light 23BHX to the mid-size 26BHX sleeping eight. At the top, the flagship 27DBX runs rear double-over-double bunks, a U-shaped dinette and the biggest chassis in the line — a 9,724-pound GVWR and a 2,904-pound cargo capacity, far above the rest, that wants an honestly rated half-ton or a small three-quarter-ton.

Across all of them the construction is the same: a bumper-pull chassis with residential-insulated R-9 walls, an aluminum front cap and Strongwall aluminum sidewalls, a TPO roof, a heated and enclosed underbelly, the residential queen bed and 600-watt solar / 2,000-watt inverter prep. The decision is layout, weight tier and how many the plan sleeps. For buyers ready to step up, Grand Design's larger base Transcend and its full-profile fifth wheels — the Reflection and Solitude — sit above the Xplor line.

05 What to weigh before buying

This is a value half-ton travel trailer with a step-up build

Xplor competes with the mainstream travel trailers — Jayco's Jay Flight SLX, Forest River's Salem / Wildwood and Aurora, Keystone's Passport and the Winnebago Micro Minnie. Its case is a genuinely well-specified value build — residential-insulated R-9 walls on studs 16 inches on center, Titan Quad Seal sealing, an aluminum front cap and Strongwall aluminum sidewalls, a TPO roof, a heated and enclosed underbelly, a true residential queen bed and residential galley details — from a Winnebago Industries company better known for its full-profile fifth wheels. Cross-shop it against those rivals on floorplan, standard equipment and each maker's warranty.

The solar and inverter are factory prep, and the 12-volt fridge is standard

Every Xplor ships with a 12-volt refrigerator and 600-watt solar prep, a 30-amp solar controller prep and 2,000-watt inverter prep — the roof and wiring provisions to add solar and an inverter, rather than an installed panel and inverter out of the box. That keeps the entry price down while leaving the trailer ready for an off-grid upgrade. For 2026 the line also adds Starlink prep, an exterior laundry rack and flush-mount and accent LED lighting. When you compare against a rival that includes an installed panel, factor the cost of adding the panel and inverter to the Xplor prep.

Match the tow vehicle honestly — especially the 27DBX

Most of the Xplor line is genuinely half-ton and SUV friendly: the plans with data run from 4,961 to 6,820 pounds dry on GVWRs from 6,995 to 9,724 pounds, with dry tongue weights from 517 to 782 pounds — and real loaded tongue weights run higher. The lightest bunkhouses and rear-bath plans suit a well-rated half-ton or a capable mid-size SUV. The flagship 27DBX is the exception: its 9,724-pound GVWR is well above the rest of the line and wants an honestly rated half-ton or a small three-quarter-ton. Tow rating alone is not enough — the tow vehicle's payload has to carry the tongue weight plus passengers and gear. Treat brochure tongue weights as a floor, weigh the loaded trailer, and confirm against your vehicle's door-jamb ratings and a proper weight-distributing hitch before buying.
