01 What makes it unique
The Coleman 17R takes the popular 17-foot footprint and rethinks it for couples. Where the 17B packs in bunks, the 17R turns the main queen bed 90 degrees so both people can get in and out without climbing over each other — a small change that makes the trailer far more comfortable for two. The slightly longer body frees space for a bathroom that spans the full width of the trailer and a large wardrobe closet for clothes or linens.
Underneath it's the same Keystone value construction as the rest of the line: a conventional stick-built body on an I-beam steel frame with stamped-steel cross-members, a walkable roof, and a one-piece heated and enclosed underbelly. It carries the line's practical kit — full pass-through storage with extra-tall doors, a power awning, quick-drop stabilizers, a power tongue jack, blackout shades, and Furrion backup-camera prep — in a 78-inch-tall cabin with a stainless sink.
At 3,061 pounds dry on a single axle it's still easy to tow, and at an MSRP of $16,488 it's priced like the value trailer it is. It sleeps three rather than five — this is a couples' trailer, optionally with room for a child — and trades the bunks for comfort and storage. For two people who want a brand-new trailer under $17,000 with a proper walk-around bed and a full bath, the 17R is one of the most sensible buys in the segment.

03 Coleman floorplan family
The base Coleman line — Keystone's compact, value-priced travel trailers. The 17R on this page is highlighted; each other plan links to its own profile. The full line runs from a 13-foot couples' plan up through 27-foot family layouts.
| Floorplan | Nominal | Sleeps | Notable |
|---|---|---|---|
| 13B | 16 ft | 4 | Ultra-compact; bunks; lightest |
| 17B | 20 ft | 5 | Bunks; family value; sleeps 5 |
| 17R | 21 ft | 3 | Couples; turned queen; full-width bath |
Coleman is sold in four series: the base Coleman line shown here, plus the larger Coleman Lantern, the laminate Coleman Light, and the mid-range laminate Coleman Legacy. Additional base-line floorplans (13R, 19B, 19R, 23B, 25B, 27B) are documented on the line hub.
04 What owners & reviewers report
Built for two
Turning the queen 90 degrees lets both people get in and out without climbing over each other — the 17R's whole reason for being, and a genuine comfort upgrade over the 17B for couples.
Full-width rear bath
The slightly longer body makes room for a bathroom spanning the full width of the trailer plus a large wardrobe — unusual at this size and price.
Easy to tow, easy to buy
At 3,061 lb dry on a single axle and an MSRP of $16,488, it's both light and genuinely affordable for a new trailer.
Sleeps three, not five
Choosing the 17R means trading the 17B's bunks for comfort and storage — the right call for couples, the wrong one for families needing berths.
05 How it compares
The same length with bunks instead of a walk-around bed — sleeps five, the family counterpart to the 17R's couples layout.
Shorter, lighter, and cheaper, with bunks — for smaller tow vehicles, at the cost of the full-width bath and walk-around bed.
Couples-oriented value trailers from the other volume brands — compare the turned-bed layout, build, and price.
