01 What makes it unique

The Cherokee Grey Wolf 26DJSE is the lightest family bunkhouse in the line — and one of the easiest-towing eight-bed-capable trailers in the whole value-mid class. The layout is unusually flexible: a walk-around front bedroom (an RV king on most builds, with dual wardrobes and USB ports), full-size rear bunks, and a main living area with a booth dinette and a sofa, so the practical sleeping count runs to seven or eight depending on how the dinette and sofa are used. A mid-ship kitchen with a 10-cubic-foot refrigerator and a full rear bath round it out, with dual entry doors and a 15-foot power awning outside.

It carries the Grey Wolf build — a wood-frame body with aluminum sidewall construction and the Cherokee Stable Step, with the Black Label trim adding Thermo-Foil Arctic insulation, gel-coat sidewalls and frameless tinted windows. A 15,000-BTU air conditioner, a 200-watt solar panel, a tankless water heater and an outside kitchen are standard. A 52-gallon fresh tank supports family camping away from hookups.

The headline number is cargo capacity: at just 5,165 pounds dry against a 7,639-pound GVWR, the 26DJSE leaves roughly 2,474 pounds of payload — far more than most family bunkhouses, and a genuinely comfortable margin once water, gear and the outside kitchen are loaded. Combined with a sub-5,200-pound dry weight that a half-ton tows easily, it is one of the best-value lightweight family plans Forest River builds. Dealers typically advertise it in the low $40,000s MSRP, lower than most plans its size.
