01 What makes it unique
The 24RBS is where the wide-body Aurora line starts: a full-width rear bathroom, a living slide carrying the dinette side of an L-shaped galley, a walk-around front queen and a camp-side outside kitchen under a 21-foot power awning — the couples-retreat formula, at the value tier. Forest River fits the free-standing dinette option and washer/dryer prep here, both unusual courtesies at an entry price point.
It is built the way every base Aurora is built: the Norco electromagnetic powder-coated chassis under a metal-sided body with a seamless roof membrane carrying a limited lifetime warranty, an enclosed fully sealed underbelly, a power tongue jack and solid-surface counters inside. A 15,000-BTU GE ducted heat-pump air conditioner, a 35,000-BTU furnace, a GE 60,000-BTU tankless water heater and the 10.7-cubic-foot GE 12-volt refrigerator are line-standard. The factory detail page prints an 8,468-pound GVWR, and the published 6,468-pound UVW plus 2,000-pound CCC sums to it exactly.
At 6,468 pounds dry on an 850-pound tongue, the 24RBS sits comfortably inside a properly equipped half-ton, and its 2,000 pounds of cargo margin absorbs a full 38-gallon fresh tank (about 315 pounds) with room left over. Couples who want the same footprint with a front kitchen should read the catalogued 26FKDS on the hub; families should start at the 27DBH.

Every base Aurora is a tandem-axle 96-inch wide-body on the Norco electromagnetic powder-coated chassis. This is a published-GVWR-clean line: on every plan the factory detail page prints a GVWR, and the published UVW plus CCC sums to it exactly, with no derivation. Forest River publishes no per-plan axle ratings and no MSRP for the line; sleeps counts are RVUSA catalog fields, and RVUSA's weight records lag the current factory figures on several plans — a logged conflict, resolved to the factory detail pages throughout. Always confirm against the unit's weight sticker before towing.
04 What owners & reviewers report
A couples plan with family-grade utilities
The 21-foot awning, outside kitchen, W/D prep and tankless water heater are the sort of content the value tier usually reserves for bigger plans.
No published MSRP
Forest River publishes no MSRP for the Aurora family; on the probe day live asking prices for base-Aurora couples plans clustered in the low-to-mid $30,000s. Confirm with a dealer.
RVUSA record lags the factory
The RVUSA catalog still shows this plan at 5,619 pounds dry and 7,764 GVWR with a 28-foot-1 body; the current factory detail page prints 6,468 / 8,468 / 29 feet 9. The factory figures are used here and the conflict is logged.
Sleeps three
A queen up front and the dinette make this a couples-plus-one plan; groups should read the bunkhouses.
05 How it compares
The family move — 3 feet 7 longer, a double-over-double bunk room, a second entry door and eight berths for roughly 700 pounds more dry weight.
The lightweight tier keeps a rear-corner bath and a slide at 5,654 pounds dry — 800 pounds lighter — giving up the wide-body, the solid-surface counters and the 15K air conditioner.
The volume Forest River stick-and-tin rivals from the sister division — compare tongue weight, tank sizes and what ships standard.
