01 What makes it unique

The 414LJMJ is a step above the rest of the Solitude line, on a heavier chassis. Where every other plan rides on two 8,000-pound axles with a 19,000-pound GVWR, the 414LJMJ runs three axles and a 23,500-pound GVWR — a full-time-residence coach with a mid living room, a bunk-and-loft sleeping zone and a layout built for living aboard year-round. Three awnings and a lower 12-foot-9 profile distinguish it from the rest of the line on the outside.

Its capacities are the largest in the lineup. A 159-gallon grey tank and a 106-gallon black tank — by far the biggest holding tanks of any Solitude — are sized for extended off-grid and full-time stays, on a 19,000-pound dry weight with a published 23,500-pound GVWR that leaves a 4,500-pound payload and a 3,200-pound dry pin. The standard Solitude build carries through — the 101-inch widebody drop-frame chassis, MORryde pin box, heated underbelly, 330-watt roof solar and a 20-cubic-foot 12-volt refrigerator — scaled up onto the triple-axle frame.

It is the most expensive and most capable Solitude, with a dealer-listed MSRP near $196,800. At 19,000 pounds dry on three axles, it needs a properly rated one-ton dually to tow safely loaded — this is heavy-duty fifth-wheel territory. For a couple or family genuinely living aboard full-time who want the largest tanks and the heaviest-duty Solitude chassis, the triple-axle 414LJMJ is the flagship of the line.

Solitude is Grand Design's flagship extended-stay fifth wheel and one of the best-selling luxury fifth wheels in North America. The full line runs to ten floorplans for 2026; eight are profiled here and two more are catalogued above. Every plan rides on the same drop-frame 101-inch widebody chassis with a MORryde pin box, 8,000-pound axles and a fully enclosed heated underbelly, and ships with a 330-watt roof solar package, a 20-cubic-foot 12-volt refrigerator and an on-demand water heater with whole-house filtration as standard. Body specifications (lengths, heights, payload, tanks, sleeping, slides and awnings) are RVUSA-verified against the 2026 structured spec records, each page fp-slug and title checked; dry weight, GVWR, payload and pin weight are published per plan, and each plan's dry weight plus payload equals its GVWR exactly. Real loaded pin weights run higher — always weigh the loaded coach and confirm against your truck's payload and rear-axle ratings.

04 What owners & reviewers report

Three axles and a 23,500-lb GVWR — a heavier chassis class than every other Solitude, built for full-time living.

Largest tanks in the line

A 159-gallon grey and 106-gallon black tank — by far the biggest holding capacity of any Solitude, sized for long off-grid stays.

Mid living + bunk and loft

A mid living room with a bunk-and-loft sleeping zone — a true full-timer family layout under a lower 12-foot-9 roof.

Needs a one-ton dually

At 19,000 lb dry on three axles, this is heavy-duty-truck territory — a properly rated one-ton dually is required; weigh the loaded coach.
