01 What makes it unique

The 417KB pairs a rear kitchen with the line’s full-timer comforts. A rear galley anchors the back of the coach, the main room carries a fireplace below an LED TV and a free-standing dinette with chairs, and the front holds a private master bedroom served by a bath-and-a-half — a second half bath that a couple living aboard or traveling with occasional guests values. Double tri-fold hide-a-bed sofas and theater seating fill out the living area.

The second bath shows in the tanks: a 106-gallon black tank serves the bath-and-a-half. RVUSA lists a published 19,000-pound GVWR against a 15,494-pound dry weight, leaving a 3,506-pound payload and the highest dry pin of the profiled plans at 3,290 pounds, reflecting the rear-kitchen mass over the rear axles. Four slide-outs, a 20-cubic-foot 12-volt refrigerator, 330-watt roof solar and a single 15,000-BTU air conditioner are standard.

At an MSRP of $149,194 it is one of the more accessible upper plans, and dealers discount it heavily — street prices well under the placard are common. For a couple who wants a rear kitchen, a fireplace, a free-standing dinette and a private master suite with a second bath, the 417KB is the rear-kitchen, bath-and-a-half Solitude.

Solitude is Grand Design's flagship extended-stay fifth wheel and one of the best-selling luxury fifth wheels in North America. The full line runs to ten floorplans for 2026; eight are profiled here and two more are catalogued above. Every plan rides on the same drop-frame 101-inch widebody chassis with a MORryde pin box, 8,000-pound axles and a fully enclosed heated underbelly, and ships with a 330-watt roof solar package, a 20-cubic-foot 12-volt refrigerator and an on-demand water heater with whole-house filtration as standard. Body specifications (lengths, heights, payload, tanks, sleeping, slides and awnings) are RVUSA-verified against the 2026 structured spec records, each page fp-slug and title checked; dry weight, GVWR, payload and pin weight are published per plan, and each plan's dry weight plus payload equals its GVWR exactly. Real loaded pin weights run higher — always weigh the loaded coach and confirm against your truck's payload and rear-axle ratings.
