01 What makes it unique
The Catalina Legacy Edition 243RBS is the line’s popular couples coach — a front private bedroom with a walk-around queen, a full-width super slide carrying both a booth dinette and a sofa, and a roomy rear corner bath with a walk-in shower and a large wardrobe/pantry tower. A galley with a breakfast bar and a standard outside camp kitchen round it out. At under 30 feet of real length it is one of the more manageable Legacy plans, nominally sleeping six with the dinette and sofa converting for guests.
At 6,658 pounds unloaded and 29 feet 10 inches, the 243RBS is a genuinely half-ton-friendly tow with a healthy 2,000-pound cargo capacity. As a Legacy Edition it carries the tier’s upgrades — solid-surface kitchen counters, upgraded aluminum wheels and washer/dryer prep — on top of the line’s standard GE 10.7-cubic-foot 12V refrigerator, 60,000-BTU tankless water heater and 13,500-BTU ducted heat-pump air conditioner. A 15-foot power awning with multicolor LEDs, a fireplace and a free-standing dinette option are available. Because it has a single small grey/black tank set rather than a bunkhouse’s larger plumbing, it suits weekend-to-extended couples use rather than big-crew trips.
Construction is the same metal-sided value build as the rest of the line — a Norco powder-coated steel I-beam frame, a Platinum .024-inch aluminum exterior with a smooth radius front, a seamless Alpha roof membrane and a 5/8-inch StableDeck floor — with JBL Aura audio and a 600-watt solar prep. For a couple who wants Legacy’s nicer finishes, a real rear bath and an outside kitchen in a sub-30-foot half-ton package, the 243RBS is the value pick of the upper tier.

Every Catalina is built on a Norco electromagnetic powder-coated cambered steel I-beam frame with full-length outriggers, a 5/8-inch tongue-and-groove StableDeck floor, a Platinum .024-inch aluminum (metal-sided) exterior with a smooth aluminum radius front, and a seamless Alpha roof membrane with a lifetime warranty. Standard equipment is full 12-volt residential: a GE 10.7-cubic-foot 12V refrigerator, a GE 60,000-BTU tankless water heater, a GE 13,500-BTU ducted air conditioner with a heat pump, JBL Aura audio and a 600-watt solar prep. The Legacy Edition adds solid-surface kitchen counters, upgraded aluminum wheels, washer/dryer prep, a larger awning, a full outside camp kitchen and available BAL auto-leveling. Lengths, weights and equipment change with options, sub-line and model year — always confirm against the unit's own weight sticker. 04 What owners & reviewers report
The Legacy couples coach
A front private queen, a full super slide carrying both a dinette and a sofa, and a rear corner bath with a walk-in shower — half-ton friendly under 30 feet.
Healthy 2,000-lb cargo capacity
A full 2,000-lb payload on a sub-30-foot coach gives real headroom for gear and water.
Legacy tier upgrades
Solid-surface kitchen counters, upgraded aluminum wheels and washer/dryer prep come standard.
Tanks suit couples use
A 38-gallon fresh, 44-gallon grey and 29-gallon black set fits weekend-to-extended couples camping rather than big-crew trips. The factory tank figures vary slightly across dealer listings; the values shown match the structured dealer spec block.
Selling price runs below the placard
Dealer MSRP placards run in the low-$40,000s while 2026 selling prices commonly land near $29,000; the figure shown is dealer-typical selling and is flagged.
05 How it compares
A no-slide Summit-tier bunkhouse — lighter and cheaper, with family bunks instead of Legacy’s couples layout and finishes.
The fan-favorite Legacy bunkhouse — dual entry, double-over-double bunks and a bigger body for families.
A laminated-aluminum couples coach one tier up in construction — cross-shop build and price.
