01 What makes it unique
The Rockwood Signature Fifth Wheels 339SBH leaves Forest River's factory at 8,757 lbs dry with 2,092 lbs of cargo capacity. Forest River publishes no GVWR for this line, so the loaded rating is not quoted on this page and is not computed from the other two figures. What the cargo number covers is defined by the factory: fresh water, gear, food, batteries and every dealer-installed accessory come out of it. Fresh water is 8.3 lb per gallon, so filling the 53-gallon fresh tank spends 440 lbs of the 2,092 lbs before anything else goes in.
Pin weight is 1,462 lbs, which is 17% of the dry weight. That figure lands on the truck's rear axle and comes straight off its payload rating - not its towing rating, which is the number most often quoted and the wrong one for this decision. Pin weight rises as the trailer is loaded, and a fifth wheel loaded toward its cargo capacity will put substantially more than 1,462 lbs over the bed. Read the payload figure on your own door sticker rather than a brochure maximum for the model.
Tank capacities are 53 gallons fresh, 78 grey and 39 black, 117 gallons of waste capacity against 53 gallons of supply. The ratio is what governs how long the trailer can sit off hookups: waste capacity exceeds fresh, so the fresh tank is the binding constraint and refilling extends the stay. Forest River publishes these three figures per floorplan, and they are the factory's numbers rather than a segment average.
Against the rest of the Rockwood Signature Fifth Wheels roster this is the 3rd of 19 floorplans by dry weight, in a line that runs from 7,523 lbs to 12,824 lbs. It sits in the lighter third of the line. Comparing floorplans inside one line is more reliable than comparing across brands, because every figure here comes from the same factory channel on the same day.
A useful way to read these figures is to stop planning against the dry weight. Nobody tows a trailer at 8,757 lbs: that is the weight before water, batteries, propane, bedding, food, tools and anything the dealer bolted on. Load half the published cargo capacity and this plan is already near 9,803 lbs on the road. Because Forest River publishes no loaded rating for this line, the ceiling has to come from the trailer's own weight label rather than from this page, and the comparison you make against the tow vehicle should use the loaded figure.
Every number above was captured twice from Forest River and checked against itself before it was published. The line listing and the individual floorplan page are two separate factory renderings of the same trailer, and this plan's 4 shared figures agree exactly on both. There is no published GVWR on this line, so the usual arithmetic check - dry plus cargo equals the rating - has nothing to test against here. Where a figure is missing from this page it is because Forest River does not publish it in this channel, not because it was hard to find - and the row says so rather than being quietly dropped.
Forest River's own description of this floorplan reads: “This FW bunkhouse floorplan is designed for families, featuring a private front bedroom with a king bed, dual wardrobes, and washer/dryer prep, while the rear bunkhouse offers 48" x 74" double bunks and dedicated bunk storage. The spacious living area includes a 67" theater seat, fireplace, Televator and dining table with chairs and bench, plus a large 25' awning and pass-through storage for added convenience.” That is the factory's marketing copy rather than a specification, and nothing in it is treated as a verified field on this page - layout descriptions, sleeping arrangements and feature claims in factory copy are not carried into the spec table unless the factory also publishes them as specifications.
How the 339SBH differs from the other eighteen Rockwood Signature Fifth Wheels. Most distinctive first. Each rank counts only the siblings that publish that field, and a figure most of them share is left out. Not every one of these pages covers the same model years as this one (2027); each figure is the one its own page prints, so a rank compares pages, not one model year.

03 The Rockwood Signature Fifth Wheels floorplan family
Signature is where Rockwood stops being a bumper-pull range. Across the fourteen plans profiled here dry weight runs 7,523 to 12,824 lb and pin weight runs 1,280 to 2,205 lb, which is a payload question before it is a towing one -- pin weight lands on the truck's rear axle, and the heavier plans ask for more of it once passengers and a hitch are in. Pin sits in a band of 15.4 to 19.3 percent of dry weight across the whole roster, so the grouping scales predictably rather than hiding a nose-heavy outlier. Cargo capacity runs 1,461 to 2,674 lb and does not track size: the heaviest plan carries the most, but the second-least accommodating plan is a mid-weight one, so the spread is worth reading per plan rather than by length. Fresh water is 53 or 54 gallons on every plan in the roster; grey runs 78 to 131 gallons and black 39 to 92, so waste capacity is the variable that separates these plans off-grid, not fresh.

Signature is the only Rockwood grouping built as a fifth wheel, and Forest River publishes fourteen floorplans for 2027 under two headings: nine as Signature Fifth Wheels and five as Signature Traveler Series Fifth Wheels, the lighter group at 7,523 to 9,762 lb dry against 8,764 to 12,824 lb. Every plan in the roster publishes dry weight, cargo capacity, pin weight, all three exterior dimensions and all three tank capacities, and thirteen of the fourteen carry a factory floorplan description. No plan publishes a GVWR, so loaded rating is shown as not published throughout and is never derived from dry weight plus cargo capacity. Sleeping capacity, axle count, tire size and MSRP are not published in this channel either, and are absent rather than estimated. Two cargo figures changed on Forest River's own floorplan pages between this site's readings of 31 Jul and 21 Oct 2026: the 301SRK's moved from 7,523 lb, the same figure to the pound as its dry weight, to 2,440 lb, and the R361RLS's from 1,730 lb to 2,197 lb. Both plans are profiled from the revised figures, and the earlier ones are not used.
04 Notes on this floorplan
What Forest River does not publish for this line
Sleeping capacity, axle count, tire size and MSRP are absent from Forest River's specification channel for Rockwood Signature Fifth Wheels, so they are absent here. They are not estimated from the segment, not carried over from a sibling floorplan, and not taken from a dealer listing quoting itself. A tire size in particular is a safety-relevant number that differs between two codes a digit apart, and this site does not guess one.
There is no factory GVWR for this trailer
Forest River publishes dry weight, cargo capacity and pin weight for every Rockwood Signature Fifth Wheels floorplan and publishes no GVWR for any of them. The factory's own glossary defines cargo capacity as GVWR minus UVW, which means the rating can be worked out - and a figure you worked out is not a figure the manufacturer published, so this page does not print one. Use the weight label on the trailer itself, which every Forest River unit carries.
Weigh it before you tow it
Every figure on this page is a factory publication for a standard build. Forest River's own footnote on unloaded weight calls it an estimated average based on a standard build with optional equipment, and options, dealer-installed accessories and the previous owner's additions all move it. The only weight that governs your towing decision is the one under your own trailer on a scale, loaded the way you actually travel.
05 How it compares
7,733 lbs dry against this plan's 8,757 lbs, a difference of 1,024 lbs. Same line, same factory channel, same model year - so the gap is a real one rather than a difference in how two brands measure.
8,764 lbs dry, 7 lbs more than this plan, and 2,134 lbs of cargo capacity against this one's 2,092 lbs. Stepping up a floorplan usually buys length before it buys payload.
2,674 lbs of cargo capacity, the highest of the 19 Rockwood Signature Fifth Wheels floorplans profiled here. If payload rather than length is the binding constraint, that is the plan to compare against.
06 Loading it for a trip
A full 53-gallon fresh tank is about 440 lb of water, 21% of the 339SBH’s 2,092 lb cargo capacity, leaving 1,652 lb. Across 19 Rockwood Signature Fifth Wheels floorplans the water share runs 17% to 31%, and 11 give up more than this one. Nearest on that share: Rockwood Signature Fifth Wheels 290SFK at 21% and Rockwood Signature Fifth Wheels 332SRL at 22%.
07 Where this floorplan sits
Closest sibling: the Rockwood Signature Fifth Wheels 332SRL, nearest on the published figures. It differs on 4 of the 7 fields both publish (this plan first): length 36 ft 7 in vs 35 ft 0 in; dry weight 8,757 lb vs 8,943 lb; cargo capacity 2,092 lb vs 2,046 lb; hitch weight 1,462 lb vs 1,535 lb. They match on fresh tank, grey tank and black tank.

11 NHTSA safety record
NHTSA holds 35 recall campaigns and 173 owner complaints (model years 2005 on) against the Rockwood & Flagstaff line. They are counted separately: a recall is a confirmed defect with a remedy, a complaint one owner’s unverified account.
What to look at on a used one. Across the 173 complaints filed on this line the most-reported components are tires (22%), structure (17%) and wheels (17%).
Recall coverage here is not complete, and complaints are owners’ unverified reports (how this record is built). Check a specific VIN at NHTSA before you buy. Full tables are on the Rockwood & Flagstaff line page.
