One of Elkhart's big towable names, relaunched. Heartland RV was founded in 2003, grew into a top-tier travel-trailer and fifth-wheel builder, joined THOR Industries in 2010, and in March 2025 was realigned under Jayco, Inc. The relaunched lineup that began shipping in fall 2025 runs five lines — the value Prowler, the laminated North Trail, the mid-tier Sundance, the luxury Bighorn and the Cyclone toy hauler. Three of the five are profiled in depth here with tri-source verified specs.

01 Who Heartland is

Heartland RV is an Elkhart, Indiana towable manufacturer founded in 2003 that grew fast on fifth wheels — the Bighorn and Cyclone names date to its independent years — and joined THOR Industries in 2010. In March 2025 THOR realigned Heartland under Jayco, Inc., and the brand relaunched its range for the 2026 model year with a focused five-line lineup that began shipping in fall 2025.

The relaunch runs a clean ladder. The Prowler is the value travel trailer — twenty-one 2026 floorplans across two build classes, including the single-axle Prowler Lynx plans, with factory Base MSRPs starting at $15,818. The North Trail is the laminated half-ton tier above it — nine plans on CoreShield vacuum-bonded walls and floors with a residential king on non-Murphy plans. The Bighorn is the luxury full-profile fifth wheel at the top — the complete seven-plan roster is profiled. The mid-tier Sundance fifth wheel and the Cyclone toy hauler round out the lineup and will be built out in demand order. Legacy Heartland lines — Mallard, Pioneer, Trail Runner and the other pre-relaunch nameplates — were retired from the current lineup and survive only on the used market.

All five relaunch lines are 2026-model-year products built in Elkhart under Jayco, Inc. The Bighorn Traveler sub-line is a separate, lighter product sold under the Bighorn name and is excluded from the Bighorn profile to keep its weight records clean. Legacy nameplates — Mallard, Pioneer, Trail Runner and other pre-relaunch lines — are not part of the current lineup.

03 How the range fits together

Heartland's ladder is short and legible. The Prowler is the volume foundation — the value family trailer fighting Dutchmen's Coleman, Forest River's Grey Wolf, Keystone's Springdale and Jayco's own Jay Flight SLX on price. The North Trail steps up to laminated construction against Forest River's Salem Hemisphere twins and Grand Design's Imagine. At the top, the Bighorn fights the full-size luxury fifth-wheel class — Keystone's Montana, Grand Design's Solitude and Forest River's Cedar Creek — with its mandatory Premium Package priced into the factory Base MSRP.
