Everything below is counted from this site's own catalogue of 1024 verified floorplan records across 110 lines and 11 brands. It is a description of what manufacturers publish, not a survey of what is sold: a figure appears here only because a named manufacturer or dealer-network source published it and this site transcribed it. Where publication is patchy, the gap is the finding.
What gets published, and what does not
| Field | Published | Of | Share |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dry weight | 1024 | 1024 | 100.0% |
| GVWR | 874 | 1024 | 85.4% |
| Hitch or pin weight | 1014 | 1024 | 99.0% |
The GVWR gap is the single most consequential omission in this catalogue. 150 floorplans — 14.6% of the total — carry no published GVWR at all. GVWR is the loaded ceiling, so its absence is the difference between a buyer being able to check a trailer against a tow rating and not being able to. This site does not close that gap by computing dry weight plus cargo capacity and printing the result as a factory figure; those rows read “Not published”.
Where the arithmetic disagrees with itself
874 of the 1024 floorplans that publish both a GVWR and a cargo capacity can be checked against their own arithmetic: dry weight plus cargo capacity should equal GVWR. 867 of 874 tie out exactly. 7 do not. The discrepancies run from 5 lb to 540 lb.
Not one of those 7 is corrected here. Each is published with its own conflicting figures and the arithmetic printed, on the published-figure conflicts page, because a buyer deciding what to tow is better served by knowing the manufacturer's numbers disagree than by being handed a tidied-up one. A trailer whose own paperwork is inconsistent by 540 lb is a fact about that trailer.
Travel trailers against fifth wheels
| Travel trailer | Fifth wheel | |
|---|---|---|
| Floorplans | 764 | 260 |
| Median dry weight | 6,180 lbs | 13,112 lbs |
| Lightest | 1,779 lbs | 7,000 lbs |
| Heaviest | 14,404 lbs | 19,271 lbs |
| Median hitch / pin weight | 740 lbs | 2,462 lbs |
| Median hitch as share of dry | 12.0% | 18.8% |
The last row is the one that decides the tow vehicle. A bumper-pull puts its tongue weight on the hitch behind the rear axle; a fifth wheel puts its pin weight in the bed, ahead of it. The published medians here are 12.0% and 18.8% of dry weight respectively, which is why a fifth wheel that looks tow-able on trailer weight alone can still be out of reach on payload.
