01 What makes it unique
The Momentum G-Class 28G is a travel-trailer toy hauler 33 ft 11 in long with a 16 ft 6 in garage, on two axles with two slide-outs and a 30-gallon fuel station. Grand Design lists the 28G as a 2026 model sold from dealer stock; its page carries 2026 figures, and every figure on this page is from it.
Grand Design’s page lists an unloaded vehicle weight of 9,153 lb, a GVWR of 13,000 lb and a tongue weight of 1,368 lb. It publishes no cargo carrying capacity, so none is printed or computed here. Tanks are 90 gal fresh, 78 gal grey and 39 gal black, and it sleeps 6.
Grand Design’s page names the 23G (2026), 29GS (2027) and 21G (2027) as comparison floorplans; the year in brackets is the model year each one’s own page carries.
How the 28G differs from the other thirteen Momentum travel trailers. Most distinctive first. Each rank counts only the siblings that publish that field, and a figure most of them share is left out. Not every one of these pages covers the same model years as this one (2026); each figure is the one its own page prints, so a rank compares pages, not one model year.
- Dry weight, 9,153 lb: third-heaviest of fourteen, between the 30G (9,139 lb) and the 31G (9,700 lb).
- Tongue weight as a share of dry weight, 14.9%: third-smallest of fourteen, between the 21G and 28MAV (14.5%) and the 29GS (15.4%).
- Tongue weight, 1,368 lb: seventh-heaviest of fourteen, between the 23G (1,242 lb) and the 25G and 30MAV (1,400 lb).
- Grey tank, 78 gal: largest of fourteen, level with the 25G, 27G and two others; next are the 17MAV, 21G and six others (74 gal).
- Slide-out count, 2: most of ten, level with the 25G, 29GS and two others; next are the 21G, 23G and three others (1).
- Length, 33 ft 11 in: shared with the 28MAV; of fourteen, eight shorter and four longer, nearest the 27G (32 ft 3 in) and the 29GS (34 ft 6 in).
- GVWR, 13,000 lb: highest of fourteen, level with the 23G, 25G and four others; next is the 30MAV (12,000 lb).
- Black tank, 39 gal: shared with the 21G, 23G and four others; of fourteen, six smaller and one larger, nearest the 17MAV, 22MAV and four others (37 gal) and the 31G (76 gal).
Next to the 30G (2027 page), the nearest lighter floorplan by dry weight, the 28G is 14 lb heavier by dry weight, has a tongue weight 57 lb lighter, is 11 in shorter and sleeps one fewer; the two publish the same GVWR, exterior height, interior height, fresh tank, grey tank, black tank and slide-out count.
Next to the 31G (2027 page), the nearest heavier floorplan by dry weight, the 28G is 547 lb lighter by dry weight, has a tongue weight 204 lb lighter, is 2 ft shorter, has a grey tank 41 gal larger and has a black tank 37 gal smaller; the two publish the same GVWR, exterior height, interior height, fresh tank, sleeping capacity and slide-out count.

Towing it
Check your vehicle. Enter the ratings from your owner’s manual and the door-pillar placard.
Compares your figures with this page’s published GVWR (13,000 lb) and the upper loaded tongue estimate (1,950 lb, a rule of thumb). Your vehicle’s placard and the trailer’s own weight label govern.
Loaded range: 10–15% of GVWR on the tongue, a rule of thumb, not a measurement of this unit. No truck ratings or hitch classes (why; NHTSA, DOT HS 809 433). The range starts at the published figure, because loaded is never lighter than that.
03 The Momentum floorplan family
Momentum is Grand Design's toy-hauler family, and it spans four rosters across both tow types. The full-size Momentum fifth wheel is the flagship — a 101-inch wide-body coach on MORryde independent suspension with disc brakes, carrying a 60-gallon dual fuel station. The Momentum G-Class fifth wheel sits below it on MORryde CRE3000 suspension and a Rotoflex pin box with a 30-gallon fuel station, and the G-Class travel trailer puts that same garage behind a bumper pull. The Momentum MAV is the compact end — the lightest and cheapest way into a Momentum garage, and the one roster with no fuel station at all. The 28G on this page is highlighted; each other profiled plan links to its own page. The 28G is listed by Grand Design as a 2026 model sold from dealer stock; the roster descriptions in this paragraph come from Grand Design’s 2027 Momentum pages and are not asserted for this 2026 unit. Grand Design’s current Momentum roster, read 24 Oct 2026, runs to 28 floorplans across the four rosters, and every one has its own page here; the table below lists this plan’s own roster.

Each figure on this page is the one Grand Design’s own 2026 floorplan page prints for the 28G; the other rows are the 2027 figures their own pages print, so a comparison across this table crosses model years. Tongue weights grow with garage cargo — weigh the loaded trailer and confirm against your vehicle’s door-jamb placard.

11 NHTSA safety record
NHTSA holds 19 recall campaigns and 201 owner complaints (model years 2005 on) against the Momentum line. They are counted separately: a recall is a confirmed defect with a remedy, a complaint one owner’s unverified account.
What to look at on a used one. Across the 201 complaints filed on this line the most-reported components are structure (41%), unknown or other (19%) and suspension (10%).
Recall coverage here is not complete, and complaints are owners’ unverified reports (how this record is built). Check a specific VIN at NHTSA before you buy. Full tables are on the Momentum line page.
