01 What makes it unique
The Nightfall 22N has 4,617 lbs of cargo capacity between 6,758 lbs dry and its 11,375 lbs GVWR, 41% of that rating; filling its 102-gallon fresh tank at 8.3 lb a gallon uses 847 lbs of it (how to read trailer weights).
Tongue weight is 1,175 lbs, 17% of the dry weight as published; it rises as the trailer is loaded and counts against the tow vehicle’s tongue-weight and payload limits (tongue weight by size).
Off hookups: 120 gallons of grey and black capacity against 102 gallons of fresh water, so fresh water runs out first (tank sizes by length).
Against the rest of the Nightfall travel-trailer roster this is the 1st of 4 travel trailers by dry weight, in a line that runs from 6,758 lbs to 9,383 lbs. It is the lightest travel trailer in the line, which makes it the one to look at first if the tow vehicle is the constraint.
Plan the tow on loaded weight, not the 6,758 lbs dry figure: half the published cargo capacity brings this plan to about 9,066 lbs, and the published GVWR of 11,375 lbs is the limit (how to read trailer weights).
Forest River’s line listing and this floorplan’s own factory page agree on all 4 shared figures. Dry weight plus cargo capacity equals the published GVWR exactly. A missing row means Forest River does not publish that figure (how figures are verified).
Forest River publishes no floorplan description for this plan in the channel this page is built from - only the numeric specification block. Rather than describe a layout from the floorplan code, which would be a guess dressed as a fact, this page carries what the factory publishes and says where it stops. 22N is a Nightfall designation and this site does not decode it into a layout claim.
How the 22N differs from the other three Nightfall travel trailers. Most distinctive first. How these ranks are worked out.
- Dry weight, 6,758 lb: lightest of four; next is the 24N (7,328 lb).
- GVWR, 11,375 lb: lowest of four; next is the 24N (11,400 lb).
- Cargo capacity as a share of GVWR, 40.6%: largest of four; next is the 28N (37.8%).
- Tongue weight, 1,175 lb: lightest of four; next is the 24N (1,200 lb).
- Length, 28 ft 6 in: shortest of four; next is the 24N (30 ft).
- Cargo capacity, 4,617 lb: second-largest of four, between the 29N (4,112 lb) and the 28N (5,107 lb).
- Tongue weight as a share of dry weight, 17.4%: second-largest of four, between the 24N (16.4%) and the 28N (17.9%).
- Exterior height, 12 ft 6 in: lowest of four, level with the 24N; next is the 29N (12 ft 7 in).
Next to the 24N, the nearest heavier floorplan by dry weight, the 22N is 570 lb lighter by dry weight, has a GVWR 25 lb lower, has 545 lb more cargo capacity, has a tongue weight 25 lb lighter and is 1 ft 6 in shorter; the two publish the same exterior height, fresh tank, grey tank and black tank.

Towing it
Check your vehicle. Enter the ratings from your owner’s manual and the door-pillar placard.
Compares your figures with this page’s published GVWR (11,375 lb) and the upper loaded tongue estimate (1,706 lb, a rule of thumb). Your vehicle’s placard and the trailer’s own weight label govern.
Loaded range: 10–15% of GVWR on the tongue, a rule of thumb, not a measurement of this unit. No truck ratings or hitch classes (why; NHTSA, DOT HS 809 433). The range starts at the published figure, because loaded is never lighter than that.
The 2027 model year, as Forest River lists it
Forest River’s own floorplan page lists the 2027 Nightfall 22N with the figures below (read 22 Oct 2026). They are that year’s record. The specifications above are the 2026 record; the two are not merged, and neither fills a gap in the other. Every weight, dimension and tank figure in it matches the 2026 record above. Unloaded weight plus cargo capacity equals the 2027 GVWR exactly.

03 The Nightfall floorplan family
Nightfall is published as one roster that spans two different towing propositions, and the split is the first thing to understand about it. Forest River files fourteen floorplans under the name in three groupings - travel-trailer toy haulers, fifth-wheel toy haulers and HD fifth-wheel toy haulers - plus four more sold dealer-stock only. The bumper-pull plans run 6,758 to 9,383 lb dry with 1,175 to 1,500 lb on the tongue. The fifth wheels run 9,459 to 15,679 lb dry with 2,165 to 3,765 lb on the pin. Those are not two ends of one range; they are two trailer types sharing a badge, and the grouping a plan belongs to says more about its weight than its floorplan number does. Both are in the table below.
| Floorplan | Nominal | Dry weight (lb) | GVWR (lb) | Notable |

Nightfall is Forest River's blacked-out toy hauler line, published across fourteen floorplans for 2026. Forest River publishes dry weight, GVWR, cargo capacity, hitch weight, all three exterior dimensions and all three tank capacities for the roster. Every one of the fourteen ties out exactly - dry weight plus cargo capacity equals the published GVWR on all of them, with GVWR running 11,260 to 21,000 lb and cargo capacity 3,281 to 5,326 lb. Four plans are marked dealer-stock only and carry no published body type at all, so they are catalogued with their weights and are not profiled: Forest River files them under a stock status rather than a grouping, and this site will not infer a hitch type for a trailer from its floorplan number. Sleeping capacity, axle count, tire size and MSRP are not published in this channel, and neither is garage length.
04 Notes on this floorplan
What Forest River does not publish for this line
Sleeping capacity, axle count, tire size and MSRP are not in Forest River’s specification channel for Nightfall, so this page does not publish them and does not estimate them (how figures are verified).
Weigh it before you tow it
Forest River calls its unloaded weight an estimated average for a standard build, and options and dealer add-ons change it, so weigh your own trailer loaded the way you travel (how figures are verified).
05 How it compares
7,328 lbs dry, 570 lbs more than this plan, and 4,072 lbs of cargo capacity against this one's 4,617 lbs.
5,107 lbs of cargo capacity, the highest of the 4 Nightfall travel trailers profiled here. If payload rather than length is the binding constraint, that is the plan to compare against.
06 Loading it for a trip
A full 102-gallon fresh tank is about 847 lb of water (water counts as cargo: 49 CFR 571.120 S10.4.2), 18% of the 22N’s 4,617 lb cargo capacity, leaving 3,770 lb. Across 4 Nightfall travel-trailer floorplans the water share runs 17% to 21%, and 2 give up more than this one. Nearest on that share: Nightfall 28N at 17% and Nightfall 29N at 21%. Your own unit’s figure is on the label inside its entry door (49 CFR 571.120 S10.4.3).
07 Where this floorplan sits
