01 What makes the 2026 18MBH different
The Jay Feather Air 18MBH is one of Jayco's Jay Feather Air travel trailers, the lighter air-framed tier of the Jay Feather range. This page covers one model year of it — the 2026 18MBH, exactly as Jayco published it — because the numbers that decide whether your truck can pull this trailer are not the same from one year to the next. Jayco publishes it at 8' 0" wide closed and 10' 0" with the slide-outs run out for the 2026 model year, which is the measurement that matters for a site pitch as well as for the road.
For the 2026 model year Jayco published a 5,700-pound GVWR on a 4,395-pound dry weight, 1,305 pounds of published cargo capacity, a 595-pound dry tongue weight. That dry tongue is 14% of the dry weight, inside the 10–15% band conventionally quoted for a bumper-pull trailer. Tongue weight is not fixed — it moves with how the trailer is loaded, and weight added ahead of the axles raises it. A tongue load in that range wants a weight-distribution hitch, and the tow vehicle's tongue-weight limit is a separate number from its trailer-weight limit — check the loaded tongue against the hitch receiver's rating and the vehicle's payload, not against the tow rating alone. The 2026 trailer left the factory on ST225/75R15'E' tyres; the load range in that code is part of the axle rating and a replacement set has to match it.
Against the 2025 build of the same floorplan, 6 published fields moved. The full comparison is in section 02, and it is drawn from two separate verified factory records rather than from one record and an assumption about the other.
A 2026 trailer is close to current as of 2026, but section 05 still applies: check it against its build date rather than its model year. Jayco commonly builds a model year well before the calendar year turns, and the tyre date codes have to be read against the build month, not the badge.
How the 18MBH differs from the other 46 Jay Feather floorplans. Most distinctive first. Sibling pages may cover other model years than this one (2025–2026). How these ranks are worked out.

Specifications by model year
This floorplan has a published factory record for 2 model years here, 2025 to 2026. The specification does not hold still: GVWR runs from 5,650 lb (2025) to 5,700 lb (2026); dry weight runs from 4,395 lb (2026) to 4,400 lb (2025); dry tongue weight runs from 535 lb (2025) to 595 lb (2026). The published tire size changes over the run (ST225/75R15E, then ST225/75R15'E'). Each year’s complete record is printed separately below, carrying only that year’s own published figures and source. Nothing is copied across from a neighbouring year.
| Model year | Dry (UVW) | GVWR | Cargo (CCC) | Dry tongue | Length | Sleeps | Tire size |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2025 | 4,400 | 5,650 | 1,250 | 535 | 23' 0" | up to 4 | ST225/75R15E |
| 2026 | 4,395 | 5,700 | 1,305 | 595 | 23' 0" | up to 4 | ST225/75R15'E' |
Every row is that model year’s own record from Jayco’s model page for that year. The figures in the tow-critical placard at the top of this page are the 2026 record from the source this catalogue originally profiled. On the weights, overall length and tire size, that record and Jayco’s own 2026 model page agree on every field both of them publish. Exterior height is not compared: Jayco publishes a bare height, a with-A/C height and a with-2nd-A/C height, and the single height row carried here cannot be matched to one of them, so no claim is made either way.

What changed for the 2025 model year
2025 is the earliest model year of the 18MBH on this site, so there is no earlier record to set it against. Section 01 compares it with 2026.
Source for 2025. Specifications reflect the 2025 model year as published by Jayco on its own 2025 model page for this floorplan, and are dry factory figures for a base unit. Options, dealer-installed equipment and cargo all add weight. A travel trailer puts its tongue load on the tow vehicle's hitch and through its rear axle, so the loaded tongue must be checked against the receiver's rating and the vehicle's payload, not against its tow rating. Dry weight plus cargo capacity ties out exactly to the published GVWR for this model year. CamperTrailers.com publishes verified manufacturer data and is not affiliated with Jayco, Inc.

Federal tire recalls naming this size. NHTSA’s recall file names ST225/75R15 in 2 tire recalls: 14T015000 (Dynamic Tire Corp., 2014; make TOWMAX STR; model ST); 17T014000 (Triangle Tire USA, 2017; make TRIANGLE; model TR643). A tire recall covers only the brands, lines and DOT date codes it lists, and this page does not know which brand of tire this trailer was built with, so read the brand and DOT code on your own sidewalls before relying on this list. Only 242 of NHTSA’s 788 tire recalls name a size in their summary, so a size with no match is not a clean record (NHTSA recall file, read 12 Oct 2026).

Towing it
Check your vehicle. Enter the ratings from your owner’s manual and the door-pillar placard.
Compares your figures with this page’s published GVWR (5,700 lb) and the upper loaded tongue estimate (855 lb, a rule of thumb). Your vehicle’s placard and the trailer’s own weight label govern.
Loaded range: 10–15% of GVWR on the tongue, a rule of thumb, not a measurement of this unit. No truck ratings or hitch classes (why; NHTSA, DOT HS 809 433). The range starts at the published dry figure, because loaded is never lighter than dry.
03 What changed for the 2026 model year
Jayco changed 6 of the published fields between the 2025 and 2026 18MBH. Every figure in both columns is that model year's own factory record — nothing here is carried across from the other year.

Every row is that model year's own factory record, and each year links to its own page. The fuller table at the top of this page adds cargo capacity and names any model year that is deliberately not published here.
GVWR changed for 2026
GVWR was 5,650 for 2025 and is 5,700 for 2026 (+50 lb). Both figures are the manufacturer's own for their year.
Dry tongue weight changed for 2026
Dry tongue weight was 535 for 2025 and is 595 for 2026 (+60 lb). Both figures are the manufacturer's own for their year.
Tire size changed for 2026
Tire size was ST225/75R15E for 2025 and is ST225/75R15'E' for 2026. Both figures are the manufacturer's own for their year.
Where these numbers come from
Every figure on this page is read from Jayco's own 2026 model page for the 18MBH — one source, one model year, no blending. The all-years parent page sets this year beside every other model year we hold, and where the record this catalogue originally profiled disagrees with Jayco's own model page, both figures are published there and neither is adjusted.
Fields Jayco does not publish for 2026
For this model year the factory record omits: Furnace, Auto-ignition (BTU output), # of outside storage compartments. Those rows read “Not published” on this page. They are deliberately not filled in from an adjacent model year — a neighbouring year's figure is an inference about this one, not a measurement of it.
04 Buying a 2026 18MBH today
Still in warranty
A current-model-year trailer is normally inside Jayco's structural and component warranties. Get the delivery PDI paperwork and confirm the warranty start date is the date of sale, not the date of build.
Check the build date, not the model year
Model-year 2026 units can be built well before the calendar year turns. The federal certification label inside the entry door carries the real month of manufacture, and it is what the tyre date codes should be read against.
Weigh it before you tow it
Every weight on this page is a DRY factory figure for the 2026 model year. A used trailer carries its previous owner's additions, and a travel trailer puts its tongue load on the tow vehicle's hitch and through its rear axle. Weigh the loaded rig at a public scale and check it against the tow vehicle's payload, rear-axle and hitch ratings.
05 How it compares — and to its other years

Every Jay Feather Air floorplan this catalogue holds a verified factory record for, with its own published weights.
06 Loading it for a trip
A full 55-gallon fresh tank is about 457 lb of water (water counts as cargo: 49 CFR 571.110 S9.3.2), 35% of the 18MBH’s 1,305 lb cargo capacity, leaving 848 lb (212 lb per rated berth). Across 47 Jay Feather floorplans the water share runs 23% to 43%, and 9 give up more than this one. Nearest on that share: Jay Feather 15MRB at 35% and Jay Feather 17FK at 36%. Your own unit’s figure is on the label inside its entry door (49 CFR 571.110 S9.3.3).
07 Where this floorplan sits
Closest sibling: the Jay Feather 17FK, nearest on the published figures. It differs on 6 of the 9 fields both publish (this plan first): length 23 ft 0 in vs 22 ft 0 in; dry weight 4,395 lb vs 4,225 lb; GVWR 5,700 lb vs 5,495 lb; cargo capacity 1,305 lb vs 1,270 lb; hitch weight 595 lb vs 640 lb; grey tank 38 gal vs 40 gal. They match on sleeps, fresh tank and black tank.

11 NHTSA safety record
NHTSA holds 23 recall campaigns and 38 owner complaints (model years 2005 on) against the Jay Feather line (a recall and a complaint are not the same thing).
What to look at on a used one. Across the 38 complaints filed on this line the most-reported components are structure (18%), equipment (16%) and tires (16%).
Recall coverage here is not complete, and complaints are owners’ unverified reports (how this record is built). Check a specific VIN at NHTSA before you buy. Full tables are on the Jay Feather line page.
