01 What makes it unique
The Rockwood Signature 8393RK leaves Forest River's factory at 10,319 lbs dry with 2,082 lbs of cargo capacity. Forest River publishes no GVWR for this line, so the loaded rating is not quoted on this page and is not computed from the other two figures. What the cargo number covers is defined by the factory: fresh water, gear, food, batteries and every dealer-installed accessory come out of it. Fresh water is 8.3 lb per gallon, so filling the 54-gallon fresh tank spends 448 lbs of the 2,082 lbs before anything else goes in.
Tongue weight is 1,170 lbs, 11% of the dry weight as published; it rises as the trailer is loaded and counts against the tow vehicle’s tongue-weight and payload limits (tongue weight by size).
Off hookups: 184 gallons of grey and black capacity against 54 gallons of fresh water, so fresh water runs out first (tank sizes by length).
Against the rest of the Rockwood Signature roster this is the 10th of 12 floorplans by dry weight, in a line that runs from 7,709 lbs to 11,259 lbs. It sits in the heavier third of the line.
Plan the tow on loaded weight, not the 10,319 lbs dry figure: half the published cargo capacity brings this plan to about 11,360 lbs. Forest River publishes no loaded rating for this line, so the ceiling is the one on the trailer’s own weight label (how to read trailer weights).
Forest River’s line listing and this floorplan’s own factory page agree on all 4 shared figures. No GVWR is published for this line, so dry plus cargo has no rating to check against. A missing row means Forest River does not publish that figure (how figures are verified).
Forest River's own description of this floorplan reads: “Wide-body floorplan with a unique living area featuring theater seating, dining space, hidden pantry, and built-in workstation. Kitchen includes pantry storage, 12V fridge, and round table with chairs. Swing-out entertainment wall with fireplace and TV reveals hidden storage. Private front bedroom offers a king bed, wardrobe, dresser, and washer/dryer prep. Bathroom includes a fiberglass shower with seat and linen…” That is the factory's marketing copy rather than a specification, and nothing in it is treated as a verified field on this page - layout descriptions, sleeping arrangements and feature claims in factory copy are not carried into the spec table unless the factory also publishes them as specifications.

03 The Rockwood Signature floorplan family
Signature is a travel trailer with fifth-wheel numbers. Dry weight across the five plans runs 9,858 to 11,259 lb and tongue weight runs 1,170 to 1,385 lb -- tongue figures to check against your hitch and truck ratings. Cargo capacity runs 1,518 to 2,126 lb, which is a smaller payload allowance than the lighter Ultra Lite plans offer despite roughly 3,000 lb more trailer. What the size buys instead is waste capacity: grey is 131 gallons on every plan and black runs 53 to 106, against 54 gallons of fresh throughout.
| Floorplan | Nominal | Dry weight (lb) | Cargo, CCC (lb) | Notable |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 8336BH | 36' 8" | 9,858 | 1,518 | Signature Travel Trailers |
| 8392RL | 38' 8" | 10,304 | 2,092 | Signature Travel Trailers |
| 8393RK | 38' 8" | 10,319 | 2,082 | Signature Travel Trailers |
| 8391FK | 38' 8" | 10,409 | 2,087 | Signature Travel Trailers |
| 8421DB | 41' 10" | 11,259 | 2,126 | Signature Wide Body Travel Trailers |
Signature is the heaviest Rockwood travel-trailer grouping and the factory files its five 2027 floorplans under two headings, Signature Travel Trailers and Signature Wide Body Travel Trailers. All five publish dry weight, cargo capacity, tongue weight, all three exterior dimensions and all three tank capacities, and all five carry a factory floorplan description. No plan in the grouping publishes a GVWR, so loaded rating is shown as not published and is never derived. Forest River also builds a Signature fifth-wheel roster of eleven floorplans, which is catalogued separately and is not part of this travel-trailer grouping.
04 Notes on this floorplan
What Forest River does not publish for this line
Sleeping capacity, axle count, tire size and MSRP are not in Forest River’s specification channel for Rockwood Signature, so this page does not publish them and does not estimate them (how figures are verified).
There is no factory GVWR for this trailer
Forest River publishes dry weight, cargo capacity and tongue weight for every Rockwood Signature floorplan and publishes no GVWR for any of them. The factory's own glossary defines cargo capacity as GVWR minus UVW, which means the rating can be worked out - and a figure you worked out is not a figure the manufacturer published, so this page does not print one. Use the weight label on the trailer itself, which every Forest River unit carries.
Weigh it before you tow it
Forest River calls its unloaded weight an estimated average for a standard build, and options and dealer add-ons change it, so weigh your own trailer loaded the way you travel (how figures are verified).
05 How it compares
10,304 lbs dry against this plan's 10,319 lbs, a difference of 15 lbs.
10,409 lbs dry, 90 lbs more than this plan, and 2,087 lbs of cargo capacity against this one's 2,082 lbs.
2,730 lbs of cargo capacity, the highest of the 12 Rockwood Signature floorplans profiled here. If payload rather than length is the binding constraint, that is the plan to compare against.
06 Loading it for a trip
A full 54-gallon fresh tank is about 448 lb of water, 22% of the 8393RK’s 2,082 lb cargo capacity, leaving 1,634 lb. Across 12 Rockwood Signature floorplans the water share runs 16% to 30%, and 4 give up more than this one. Nearest on that share: Rockwood Signature 8391FK at 21% and Rockwood Signature 8263MBR at 22%.
07 Where this floorplan sits
Closest sibling: the Rockwood Signature 8392RL, nearest on the published figures. They match on length, fresh tank, grey tank and black tank.

11 NHTSA safety record
NHTSA holds 35 recall campaigns and 173 owner complaints (model years 2005 on) against the Rockwood & Flagstaff line (a recall and a complaint are not the same thing).
What to look at on a used one. Across the 173 complaints filed on this line the most-reported components are tires (22%), structure (17%) and wheels (17%).
Recall coverage here is not complete, and complaints are owners’ unverified reports (how this record is built). Check a specific VIN at NHTSA before you buy. Full tables are on the Rockwood & Flagstaff line page.
