01 What Vanleigh publishes for the Beacon
Vanleigh RV lists 9 Beacon trailers in its 2023 Beacon product-update sheet. Vanleigh prints a dry weight for every one profiled here, and each has a page of its own. It prints a GVWR for every one too. It prints a net carrying capacity for 9; on the 9 that carry both that and a GVWR, the dry weight plus the carrying capacity equals the GVWR exactly on 9. (How the data is verified.)

Read from Vanleigh’s 2023 Beacon product-update sheet, 5 Nov 2026. “Not published” means the maker prints no figure; nothing is filled from another model, year or dealer.
03 Reading Vanleigh’s figures
A maker’s published weight is for a base trailer; options and dealer-installed equipment add weight to any particular unit. The federal weight label inside the trailer carries its own unloaded weight, cargo carrying capacity and GVWR (49 CFR 567 and 571.120): read it on the unit itself before any towing decision.

Coverage is not complete: this list is a starting point, not a clearance (how it is built), so check a specific VIN at NHTSA before you buy and again before you tow.
This count covers every Beacon campaign Vanleigh RV has filed, under both of its filer names.

| 29 May 2026 | Unknown or other | — | The frame of my 2021 Vanleigh Beacon 39FFB fifth wheel trailer has experienced a catastrophic structural failure in the primary load-bearing area near the king pin. The frame has fractured on both sides between the king pin structure and upper deck riser in a non-welded section of the frame. This… |
| 27 Jul 2024 | Suspension | — | While travelling on an interstate freeway, towing our 40 foot 5th wheel RV at 63 mph, our trailer lost its front drivers' side wheel & tire. Upon realizing something was wrong and stopping to investigate, I recognized the wheel spindle had separated from the axle at the welding point, which allowed… |
| 22 May 2024 | Suspension | — | This is my second report with two different incidents of failure. These failures are connected to the Lippert frame of my fifth wheel trailer. While, traveling in Indiana near Gary, Indiana my leafspring on the rear axle on the driver side gave away, causing the trailer to veer hard to the left… |
| 10 May 2024 | Structure › Body | — | There are several issues with my Vanleigh RV that I believe warrant investigation and recall. The main structural element I believe common with all my problems is the under-designed frame in its entirety. I have had to have the rear portion of my frame strengthened by the frame manufacturer… |
| 21 Mar 2024 | Structure › Body | — | This is a 2021 Vanleigh/Tiffin Beacon 41FLB 5th wheel. Upper deck frame welds broken causing wall structure frame to break and front slide outs to come loose. | 20 Mar 2024 | Structure › Body | — | The front frame of the RV has failed, welds are cracked. The unit can be inspected. The frame welds hold the walls on to the RV. The frame is the major structural component that could lead to wall collapse. Symptoms of the cracks are evident only when towing, meaning failure on the highway. Problem… |
| 4 Feb 2024 | Unknown or other | — | I purchased this vehicle new July 14, 2022. On its first trip, I noticed a gap starting on the side panels near the overhang of the 5th wheel. | 27 May 2022 | Electrical system › Integrated trailer brake… | 400,000 | The contact owns a 2022 Vanleigh Beacon RV Trader. The contact stated while his friend was driving his RV trader at 30 mph while trying to brake, he felt a delay in the brake pedal. The trader was taken to the dealer on a separate occasion. The dealer diagnosed that the brakes needed to be flushed… |
How this count is drawn. A report is counted here only when NHTSA’s own model field names this line. What the owner typed in the description is never used to attribute a report: our line names are ordinary English words, and an owner writing “imagine my surprise when the axle went” or naming the state of Montana is not reporting a Grand Design Imagine or a Keystone Montana.
Read these as reports, not as findings. Complaints are submitted by owners and NHTSA does not verify them; no complaint here has been confirmed as a defect, and none of them is a recall. The sample is also self-selected — only owners motivated to file appear in it — so a high count tracks how many units a line sold at least as much as how well it was built. Use the pattern, not the total: a component that keeps recurring is worth inspecting on any used unit. File or search complaints at NHTSA.
