01 What makes the 2026 21MBH different
The Jay Feather 21MBH is one of Jayco's Jay Feather travel trailers, the lightweight step-up line positioned above the value Jay Flight SLX and below the premium Eagle HT. This page covers one model year of it — the 2026 21MBH, exactly as Jayco published it — because the numbers that decide whether your truck can pull this trailer are not the same from one year to the next. Jayco publishes it at 8' 0" wide closed and 10' 11" with the slide-outs run out for the 2026 model year, which is the measurement that matters for a site pitch as well as for the road.
For the 2026 model year Jayco published a 6,995-pound GVWR on a 5,450-pound dry weight, 1,545 pounds of published cargo capacity, a 600-pound dry tongue weight. That dry tongue is 11% of the dry weight, inside the 10–15% band conventionally quoted for a bumper-pull trailer. Tongue weight is not fixed — it moves with how the trailer is loaded, and weight added ahead of the axles raises it. A tongue load in that range wants a weight-distribution hitch, and the tow vehicle's tongue-weight limit is a separate number from its trailer-weight limit — check the loaded tongue against the hitch receiver's rating and the vehicle's payload, not against the tow rating alone. The 2026 trailer left the factory on ST205/75R14'D' tyres; the load range in that code is part of the axle rating and a replacement set has to match it.
Against the 2025 build of the same floorplan, 5 published fields moved. The full comparison is in section 02, and it is drawn from two separate verified factory records rather than from one record and an assumption about the other.
A 2026 trailer is close to current as of 2026, but section 05 still applies: check it against its build date rather than its model year. Jayco commonly builds a model year well before the calendar year turns, and the tyre date codes have to be read against the build month, not the badge.
How the 21MBH differs from the other 46 Jay Feather floorplans. Most distinctive first. Sibling pages may cover other model years than this one (2024–2026). How these ranks are worked out.

Next to the 26BHSL (2026–2027 page), the nearest heavier floorplan by dry weight, the 21MBH is 105 lb lighter by dry weight, has a GVWR 205 lb lower, has 100 lb less cargo capacity, has a dry tongue weight 80 lb lighter, is 3 ft 9 in shorter, stands 1 in taller, has a grey tank 7.5 gal smaller, has a black tank 7.5 gal smaller and sleeps four fewer; the two publish the same interior height and fresh tank.
Specifications by model year
This floorplan has a published factory record for 3 model years here, 2024 to 2026. The specification does not hold still: dry weight runs from 5,450 lb (2026) to 5,545 lb (2025); dry tongue weight runs from 587 lb (2024) to 615 lb (2025). The published sleeping capacity changes across the years: up to 8 in 2024–2025, up to 6 in 2026. Each year’s complete record is printed separately below, carrying only that year’s own published figures and source. Nothing is copied across from a neighbouring year.
| Model year | Dry (UVW) | GVWR | Cargo (CCC) | Dry tongue | Length | Sleeps | Tire size |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2024 | 5,484 | 6,995 | 1,511 | 587 | 27' 3" | up to 8 | ST205/75R14'D' |
| 2025 | 5,545 | 6,995 | 1,450 | 615 | 26' 8" | up to 8 | ST205/75R14'D' |
| 2026 | 5,450 | 6,995 | 1,545 | 600 | 26' 8" | up to 6 | ST205/75R14'D' |
Every row is that model year’s own record from Jayco’s model page for that year. The figures in the tow-critical placard at the top of this page are the 2026 record from the source this catalogue originally profiled. On the weights, overall length and tire size, that record and Jayco’s own 2026 model page agree on every field both of them publish. Exterior height is not compared: Jayco publishes a bare height, a with-A/C height and a with-2nd-A/C height, and the single height row carried here cannot be matched to one of them, so no claim is made either way.

What changed for the 2024 model year
2024 is the earliest model year of the 21MBH on this site, so there is no earlier record to set it against. Section 01 compares it with 2025.
Source for 2024. Specifications reflect the 2024 model year as published by Jayco on its own 2024 model page for this floorplan, and are dry factory figures for a base unit. Options, dealer-installed equipment and cargo all add weight. A travel trailer puts its tongue load on the tow vehicle's hitch and through its rear axle, so the loaded tongue must be checked against the receiver's rating and the vehicle's payload, not against its tow rating. Dry weight plus cargo capacity ties out exactly to the published GVWR for this model year. CamperTrailers.com publishes verified manufacturer data and is not affiliated with Jayco, Inc.

Towing it
Check your vehicle. Enter the ratings from your owner’s manual and the door-pillar placard.
Compares your figures with this page’s published GVWR (6,995 lb) and the upper loaded tongue estimate (1,049 lb, a rule of thumb). Your vehicle’s placard and the trailer’s own weight label govern.
Loaded range: 10–15% of GVWR on the tongue, a rule of thumb, not a measurement of this unit. No truck ratings or hitch classes (why; NHTSA, DOT HS 809 433).
The 2027 model year, as Jayco lists it
For 2027, Jayco’s Jay Feather 21MBH page differs from the 2026 record above in 4 figures: unloaded weight 5,450 lb → 5,510 lb; cargo capacity 1,545 lb → 1,485 lb; hitch weight 600 lb → 625 lb; exterior height 9' 11" → 10' 1". Unchanged: GVWR, fresh tank, grey tank, black tank, width, overall length. Unloaded weight plus cargo capacity equals the 2027 GVWR exactly.

03 What changed for the 2026 model year
Jayco changed 5 of the published fields between the 2025 and 2026 21MBH. Every figure in both columns is that model year's own factory record — nothing here is carried across from the other year.

Every row is that model year's own factory record, and each year links to its own page. The fuller table at the top of this page adds cargo capacity and names any model year that is deliberately not published here.
Dry tongue weight changed for 2026
Dry tongue weight was 615 for 2025 and is 600 for 2026 (-15 lb). Both figures are the manufacturer's own for their year.
Sleeps changed for 2026
Sleeps was up to 8 for 2025 and is up to 6 for 2026. Both figures are the manufacturer's own for their year.
Where these numbers come from
Every figure on this page is read from Jayco's own 2026 model page for the 21MBH — one source, one model year, no blending. The all-years parent page sets this year beside every other model year we hold, and where the record this catalogue originally profiled disagrees with Jayco's own model page, both figures are published there and neither is adjusted.
Fields Jayco does not publish for 2026
For this model year the factory record omits: Furnace BTU. Those rows read “Not published” on this page. They are deliberately not filled in from an adjacent model year — a neighbouring year's figure is an inference about this one, not a measurement of it.
04 Buying a 2026 21MBH today
Still in warranty
A current-model-year trailer is normally inside Jayco's structural and component warranties. Get the delivery PDI paperwork and confirm the warranty start date is the date of sale, not the date of build.
Check the build date, not the model year
Model-year 2026 units can be built well before the calendar year turns. The federal certification label inside the entry door carries the real month of manufacture, and it is what the tyre date codes should be read against.
Weigh it before you tow it
Every weight on this page is a DRY factory figure for the 2026 model year. A used trailer carries its previous owner's additions, and a travel trailer puts its tongue load on the tow vehicle's hitch and through its rear axle. Weigh the loaded rig at a public scale and check it against the tow vehicle's payload, rear-axle and hitch ratings.
05 How it compares — and to its other years
The same floorplan one model year earlier, with its own published weights.
Every Jay Feather floorplan this catalogue holds a verified factory record for, with its own published weights.
06 Loading it for a trip
A full 55-gallon fresh tank is about 457 lb of water (water counts as cargo: 49 CFR 571.110 S9.3.2), 30% of the 21MBH’s 1,545 lb cargo capacity, leaving 1,088 lb (181 lb per rated berth). Across 47 Jay Feather floorplans the water share runs 23% to 43%, and 23 give up more than this one. Nearest on that share: Jay Feather 18RBF at 30% and Jay Feather 17RBSL at 30%. Your own unit’s figure is on the label inside its entry door (49 CFR 571.110 S9.3.3).
07 Where this floorplan sits
Closest sibling: the Jay Feather 24RL, nearest on the published figures. It differs on 7 of the 9 fields both publish (this plan first): length 26 ft 8 in vs 28 ft 0 in; dry weight 5,450 lb vs 5,670 lb; GVWR 6,995 lb vs 7,000 lb; cargo capacity 1,545 lb vs 1,330 lb; hitch weight 600 lb vs 675 lb; grey tank 30.5 gal vs 30 gal; black tank 30.5 gal vs 30 gal. They match on sleeps and fresh tank.

11 NHTSA safety record
NHTSA holds 23 recall campaigns and 38 owner complaints (model years 2005 on) against the Jay Feather line (a recall and a complaint are not the same thing).
What to look at on a used one. Across the 38 complaints filed on this line the most-reported components are structure (18%), equipment (16%) and tires (16%).
Recall coverage here is not complete, and complaints are owners’ unverified reports (how this record is built). Check a specific VIN at NHTSA before you buy. Full tables are on the Jay Feather line page.
