01 What makes the 2025 29RL different
The Jay Feather 29RL is one of Jayco's Jay Feather travel trailers, the lightweight step-up line positioned above the value Jay Flight SLX and below the premium Eagle HT. This page covers one model year of it — the 2025 29RL, exactly as Jayco published it — because the numbers that decide whether your truck can pull this trailer are not the same from one year to the next. Jayco publishes it at 8' 0" wide closed and 11' 0" with the slide-outs run out for the 2025 model year, which is the measurement that matters for a site pitch as well as for the road.
Jayco’s 2025 Jay Feather brochure draws the 29RL with a 60-by-80-inch queen bed between nightstands, with overhead cabinets at the front. Mid-coach: a bath with a shower, a medicine cabinet, a linen cabinet and a wardrobe; a pantry and a refrigerator; a tri-fold sofa and a dinette in a slide; and a kitchen with a microwave, an LED TV and overhead cabinets. At the rear: a theater seat under overhead cabinets. It shows one slide-out. Outside it labels an LP quick connect. Layouts change with options; check the unit itself.
For the 2025 model year Jayco published a 8,650-pound GVWR on a 7,130-pound dry weight, 1,520 pounds of published cargo capacity, a 950-pound dry tongue weight. That dry tongue is 13% of the dry weight, inside the 10–15% band conventionally quoted for a bumper-pull trailer. Tongue weight is not fixed — it moves with how the trailer is loaded, and weight added ahead of the axles raises it. A tongue load in that range wants a weight-distribution hitch, and the tow vehicle's tongue-weight limit is a separate number from its trailer-weight limit — check the loaded tongue against the hitch receiver's rating and the vehicle's payload, not against the tow rating alone. The 2025 trailer left the factory on ST225/75R15'E' tyres; the load range in that code is part of the axle rating and a replacement set has to match it.
This is the only 29RL model year with a verified factory record in this catalogue.
A 2025 trailer is close to current as of 2026, but section 05 still applies: check it against its build date rather than its model year. Jayco commonly builds a model year well before the calendar year turns, and the tyre date codes have to be read against the build month, not the badge.
How the 29RL differs from the other 46 Jay Feather floorplans. Most distinctive first. Sibling pages may cover other model years than this one (2025). How these ranks are worked out.

- Cargo capacity, 1,520 lb: 23rd-largest of 47, between the 25RLSL (1,490 lb) and the 18RBF, 21MBH and 27RK (1,545 lb).
- Sleeping capacity, 6: shared with the 17BHSL, 21MBH and five others; of 47, 23 smaller and sixteen larger, nearest the 171BH (5) and the 22BH and 23MBD (7).
Next to the 26FK (2025–2027 page), the nearest lighter floorplan by dry weight, the 29RL is 40 lb heavier by dry weight, has a GVWR 50 lb lower, has 90 lb less cargo capacity, has a dry tongue weight 5 lb lighter, is 1 ft 6 in longer, stands 1 in taller, has a grey tank 61.5 gal smaller, has a black tank 9.5 gal larger and sleeps two more; the two publish the same interior height and fresh tank.
Next to the 30QB (2021–2023 page), the nearest heavier floorplan by dry weight, the 29RL is 135 lb lighter by dry weight, has a GVWR 150 lb higher, has 285 lb more cargo capacity, has a dry tongue weight 110 lb heavier, is 1 ft 7 in shorter, has a grey tank 31 gal smaller, has a black tank 9 gal larger and sleeps three fewer; the two publish the same exterior height, interior height and fresh tank.
Specifications by model year
2025 is the only model year this catalogue holds a verified factory record for the 29RL. That record is published here on its own, and it is not a general specification for the floorplan: Jayco revises published weights, ratings and even tire sizes from one model year to the next, so every figure below is evidence about 2025 and about no other year.
| Model year | Dry (UVW) | GVWR | Cargo (CCC) | Dry tongue | Sleeps | Tire size |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2025 | 7,130 | 8,650 | 1,520 | 950 | 6 | ST225/75R15'E' |
The row above is the 2025 model year’s own record from Jayco’s model page for that year. When a second model year is sourced for this floorplan, it joins the table above on this same page and at this same address — nothing moves and no link breaks. The figures in the tow-critical placard at the top of this page are that same 2025 record. On the weights, overall length and tire size, that record and Jayco’s own 2025 model page agree on every field both of them publish. Exterior height is not compared: Jayco publishes a bare height, a with-A/C height and a with-2nd-A/C height, and the single height row carried here cannot be matched to one of them, so no claim is made either way.

How these published figures sit against the rest of the catalogue: travel trailer tongue weight by size; fresh, grey and black tank sizes; camper trailer size chart.
Federal tire recalls naming this size. NHTSA’s recall file names ST225/75R15 in 2 tire recalls: 14T015000 (Dynamic Tire Corp., 2014; make TOWMAX STR; model ST); 17T014000 (Triangle Tire USA, 2017; make TRIANGLE; model TR643). A tire recall covers only the brands, lines and DOT date codes it lists, and this page does not know which brand of tire this trailer was built with, so read the brand and DOT code on your own sidewalls before relying on this list. Only 242 of NHTSA’s 788 tire recalls name a size in their summary, so a size with no match is not a clean record (NHTSA recall file, read 12 Oct 2026).

Towing it
Check your vehicle. Enter the ratings from your owner’s manual and the door-pillar placard.
Compares your figures with this page’s published GVWR (8,650 lb) and the upper loaded tongue estimate (1,298 lb, a rule of thumb). Your vehicle’s placard and the trailer’s own weight label govern.
Loaded range: 10–15% of GVWR on the tongue, a rule of thumb, not a measurement of this unit. No truck ratings or hitch classes (why; NHTSA, DOT HS 809 433). The range starts at the published dry figure, because loaded is never lighter than dry.
04 Buying a 2025 29RL at 1 model years old
Tyres are the first thing to age out
RV tyres are usually replaced on age rather than tread, at roughly five to seven years from the DOT date code on the sidewall. On a 1-year-old trailer the originals (ST225/75R15'E') may still be fitted — read the four-digit date code, not the tread.
Roof and seam sealant is on a service interval
Travel trailers rely on sealant at every roof penetration, along the front cap and around every window and marker light. Inspection is typically annual and re-sealing every few years; ask for the service records rather than assuming.
Weigh it before you tow it
Every weight on this page is a DRY factory figure for the 2025 model year. A used trailer carries its previous owner's additions, and a travel trailer puts its tongue load on the tow vehicle's hitch and through its rear axle. Weigh the loaded rig at a public scale and check it against the tow vehicle's payload, rear-axle and hitch ratings.
05 How it compares
Every Jay Feather floorplan this catalogue holds a verified factory record for, with its own published weights.
06 Loading it for a trip
A full 55-gallon fresh tank is about 457 lb of water (water counts as cargo: 49 CFR 571.110 S9.3.2), 30% of the 29RL’s 1,520 lb cargo capacity, leaving 1,064 lb (177 lb per rated berth). Across 47 Jay Feather floorplans the water share runs 23% to 43%, and 21 give up more than this one. Nearest on that share: Jay Feather 17RBSL at 30% and Jay Feather 25RLSL at 31%. Your own unit’s figure is on the label inside its entry door (49 CFR 571.110 S9.3.3).

11 NHTSA safety record
NHTSA holds 23 recall campaigns and 38 owner complaints (model years 2005 on) against the Jay Feather line (a recall and a complaint are not the same thing).
What to look at on a used one. Across the 38 complaints filed on this line the most-reported components are structure (18%), equipment (16%) and tires (16%).
Recall coverage here is not complete, and complaints are owners’ unverified reports (how this record is built). Check a specific VIN at NHTSA before you buy. Full tables are on the Jay Feather line page.
