01 What makes it unique
The Jayco Jay Feather Micro 173MRB is a 20' 10" travel trailer in the MY2025 Jay Feather Micro roster. Jayco publishes a dry weight of 3,840 pounds against a 4,995-pound GVWR, and the two tie out exactly with the published 1,155-pound cargo carrying capacity — 3,840 + 1,155 = 4,995. That arithmetic is checked on every plan in this catalogue, and a plan whose own figures disagree is catalogued without a page rather than quietly reconciled.
The dry tongue weight is 490 pounds, or 13% of the dry weight. Tongue load transfers to the hitch and the rear axle, and a weight-distributing hitch redistributes it rather than removing it. Payload is 1,155 pounds, 23% of GVWR — that is the ceiling for water, propane, cargo and any dealer-fitted equipment combined. Fresh water alone at 55 gallons is about 457 pounds when full.
Tanks are 55 gallons fresh, 30 grey and 30 black. Interior height is 6' 6" and the exterior measures 7' 6" wide. Jayco publishes two exterior heights for this floorplan: 9' 9" at the roofline and 10' 5" with the air conditioner. Both are printed above, neither is derived from the other, and it is the taller figure that has to clear your garage. This page covers the MY2025 173MRB only. Jayco’s figures move between model years — measured on one Jayco floorplan across five consecutive years, 20 of 28 published fields changed, including a 290-pound swing in dry hitch weight — so nothing here is carried over from a neighbouring year, and no year is shown that Jayco has not published for this code.
How the 173MRB differs from the other 46 Jay Feather floorplans. Most distinctive first. Sibling pages may cover other model years than this one (2022–2025). How these ranks are worked out.

Specifications by model year
This floorplan has a published factory record for 4 model years here, 2022 to 2025. The specification does not hold still: dry weight runs from 3,840 lb (2025) to 3,980 lb (2023); dry tongue weight runs from 410 lb (2022) to 490 lb (2025). The published sleeping capacity changes across the years: 3 in 2022, up to 3 in 2023–2025. Each year’s complete record is printed separately below, carrying only that year’s own published figures and source. Nothing is copied across from a neighbouring year.
| Model year | Dry (UVW) | GVWR | Cargo (CCC) | Dry tongue | Length | Sleeps | Tire size |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2022 | 3,940 | 4,995 | 1,055 | 410 | 20' 10" | 3 | Not published |
| 2023 | 3,980 | 4,995 | 1,015 | 440 | 20' 10" | up to 3 | LT225/75R16'E' |
| 2024 | 3,900 | 4,995 | 1,095 | 415 | 20' 10" | up to 3 | LT225/75R16'E' |
| 2025 | 3,840 | 4,995 | 1,155 | 490 | 20' 10" | up to 3 | LT225/75R16'E' |
Every row is that model year’s own record from Jayco’s model page or factory brochure for that year, as the source line for each year names. The figures in the tow-critical placard at the top of this page are the 2025 record from the source this catalogue originally profiled. On the weights, overall length and tire size, that record and Jayco’s own 2025 model page agree on every field both of them publish. Exterior height is not compared: Jayco publishes a bare height, a with-A/C height and a with-2nd-A/C height, and the single height row carried here cannot be matched to one of them, so no claim is made either way.

What changed for the 2022 model year
2022 is the earliest model year of the 173MRB on this site, so there is no earlier record to set it against. Section 01 compares it with 2023.
Source for 2022. Specifications reflect the 2022 model year as published by Jayco on its own 2022 factory brochure for this product line, and are dry factory figures for a base unit. Options, dealer-installed equipment and cargo all add weight. A travel trailer puts its tongue load on the tow vehicle's hitch and through its rear axle, so the loaded tongue must be checked against the receiver's rating and the vehicle's payload, not against its tow rating. Dry weight plus cargo capacity ties out exactly to the published GVWR for this model year. CamperTrailers.com publishes verified manufacturer data and is not affiliated with Jayco, Inc.

Towing it
Check your vehicle. Enter the ratings from your owner’s manual and the door-pillar placard.
Compares your figures with this page’s published GVWR (4,995 lb) and the upper loaded tongue estimate (749 lb, a rule of thumb). Your vehicle’s placard and the trailer’s own weight label govern.
Loaded range: 10–15% of GVWR on the tongue, a rule of thumb, not a measurement of this unit. No truck ratings or hitch classes (why; NHTSA, DOT HS 809 433).
03 The Jay Feather Micro floorplan family
Jay Feather Micro was the smallest roster Jayco built under the Jay Feather name. Jayco's own floorplan index publishes Micro plans for MY2023 through MY2025 and no later model year, so the figures on this page are the last ones Jayco published for this floorplan. It is a factory sub-roster and is catalogued under the Jay Feather line hub. The 173MRB on this page is highlighted; every other profiled plan links to its own page.

04 Notes on this floorplan
Figures are Jayco’s own, and they tie out
Dry 3,840 lb + cargo 1,155 lb = GVWR 4,995 lb exactly. Nothing on this page is computed from the other two, estimated from the segment, or taken from a dealer listing.
Dry means empty, and you will not tow it empty
3,840 lb is the unit as built, before water, propane, batteries, cargo or dealer-installed options. Weigh the loaded trailer on a public scale before matching it to a tow vehicle.
Tongue load rides the rear axle
490 lb dry tongue transfers to the hitch and the rear axle. A weight-distributing hitch moves that load around; it does not make it disappear.
MY2025 is the last year Jayco published for this floorplan
Jayco’s own floorplan index carries Jay Feather Micro for MY2023, MY2024 and MY2025 and no later year, while the wider Jay Feather range runs to MY2027. This page therefore carries the last record Jayco published for this code, and there is no later year to compare it against. Nothing here is carried forward from a neighbouring roster.
What this page does not publish
Jayco’s factory spec table for this floorplan carries no slide count, no bed size, no refrigerator or air-conditioner spec, no tire size and no MSRP. Those rows are absent here rather than filled from a sibling floorplan or a second source. Jayco’s published awning length is held in this catalogue’s saved copy of the factory page but not printed, because the catalogue tracks no awning field to print it into.

11 NHTSA safety record
NHTSA holds 23 recall campaigns and 38 owner complaints (model years 2005 on) against the Jay Feather line (a recall and a complaint are not the same thing).
What to look at on a used one. Across the 38 complaints filed on this line the most-reported components are structure (18%), equipment (16%) and tires (16%).
Recall coverage here is not complete, and complaints are owners’ unverified reports (how this record is built). Check a specific VIN at NHTSA before you buy. Full tables are on the Jay Feather line page.
