01 What makes it unique
The 20FB steps the Caravel up to a full three-piece bathroom — separate shower and toilet, with their own grey and black tanks — and a queen set forward in a wrap of panoramic windows. The galley is where the Caravel earns its name: a stainless three-burner cast-iron range, a Baraldi cooking vent, a Moen faucet, and an optional convection microwave.
All of that finish adds weight. At 4,300 pounds dry the Caravel 20FB runs roughly 400 pounds heavier than the Bambi built on the same plan, with a 5,000-pound GVWR, a 565-pound tongue, and 700 pounds of payload. Tanks run 23 fresh, 30 grey, 18 black; a 4.3-cubic-foot fridge and JL Audio surround round it out, with 200 watts of solar and an optional lithium upgrade for off-grid trips.
The 20FB is the Caravel sweet spot: a real bathroom, a bright front bedroom, and a residential galley in a single-axle trailer a mid-size truck tows without fuss. At $83,500 it commands a clear premium over the Bambi 20FB — aimed squarely at buyers who want the finishes.

03 Caravel floorplan family
The current Caravel line — three single-axle floorplans sharing the Bambi's shell in Airstream's upscale trim. The 20FB on this page is highlighted; each other plan links to its own profile.
| Floorplan | Nominal | Bedroom | Sleeps | Notable |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 16RB | 16 ft | Rear | 4 | Lightest; wet bath; premium trim |
| 20FB | 20 ft | Front | 4 | Full bath; 3-burner galley |
| 22FB | 22 ft | Front | 4 | Largest; full rear bath; 54" bed |
The 19CB corner-bed floorplan was part of the Caravel line through roughly 2024 and was dropped for the 2025 model year; it is documented separately. The Bambi line offers these same floorplans on the same shell at a lower price and trim level.
04 What owners & reviewers report
Residential galley
A stainless three-burner cast-iron range, Baraldi vent, Moen faucet, and optional convection microwave set the Caravel apart from the Bambi's two-burner setup.
Full bath, panoramic bed
Separate shower and toilet with their own tanks, plus a queen wrapped in front windows — the practical heart of the line.
Heavier than the Bambi
At 4,300 lb dry it's ~400 lb over the Bambi 20FB; payload drops to 700 lb against the 5,000-lb GVWR.
Off-grid ready
200W of solar with an optional lithium battery makes it a credible boondocker for its size.
05 How it compares
Shorter and ~800 lb lighter, with a wet bath and a single combined waste tank — the most affordable Caravel.
A foot longer with a 54-inch bed and a full-width rear bath, at the same GVWR but lower tongue weight.
The same plan and shell in standard trim — ~400 lb lighter, several thousand dollars less, two-burner galley.
