01 What makes it unique
The 22FB sits at the top of the Caravel line and is the most appointed single-axle trailer Airstream builds. A full bathroom spans the entire rear — shower, toilet, and vanity across the width — while the largest bed in the compact range, a 54-by-80 queen, sits forward. For 2025 a full-height wood divider replaces the old plexiglass panel between the bedroom and galley, adding real privacy.
It carries Caravel finish throughout: a stainless three-burner cast-iron range, JL Audio surround sound with a subwoofer, a Moen faucet, Ultraleather cushions, and the new decor packages. At 4,200 pounds dry, a 5,000-pound GVWR, and just 525 on the hitch, it tows lighter on the tongue than the shorter 20FB — the rear bath is the reason. Tanks run 23 fresh, 30 grey, 17 black, with a 4.3-cubic-foot fridge.
The 22FB is for buyers who want the most livable compact Airstream without stepping up to a dual-axle trailer — and who'll pay flagship money for near-Flying-Cloud interior quality in a 22-foot package. At $86,800 it's the most expensive single-axle Airstream, and roughly $17,000 above the Bambi built on the same plan.

03 Caravel floorplan family
The current Caravel line — three single-axle floorplans sharing the Bambi's shell in Airstream's upscale trim. The 22FB on this page is highlighted; each other plan links to its own profile.
| Floorplan | Nominal | Bedroom | Sleeps | Notable |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 16RB | 16 ft | Rear | 4 | Lightest; wet bath; premium trim |
| 20FB | 20 ft | Front | 4 | Full bath; 3-burner galley |
| 22FB | 22 ft | Front | 4 | Largest; full rear bath; 54" bed |
The 19CB corner-bed floorplan was part of the Caravel line through roughly 2024 and was dropped for the 2025 model year; it is documented separately. The Bambi line offers these same floorplans on the same shell at a lower price and trim level.
04 What owners & reviewers report
Most appointed compact Airstream
Stainless three-burner range, JL Audio surround with subwoofer, Moen and Ultraleather finishes — the flagship of the single-axle trailers.
Full-width rear bath + biggest bed
A rear bath across the trailer and a 54-by-80 queen make it the most livable layout in the compact range.
New wood divider for 2025
A full-height wood panel replaces the older plexiglass divider between bedroom and galley for greater privacy.
Flagship price
At $86,800 it's the priciest single-axle Airstream — about $17k over the Bambi 22FB on the same plan.
05 How it compares
A foot shorter with a smaller front bed and a rear three-piece bath — slightly more tongue weight, a bit less space.
The smallest dual-axle Airstream: more tank, cargo, and capability, but a real jump in weight and a different tow class.
The same plan and shell in standard trim — ~300 lb lighter and roughly $17k less, with a simpler interior.
