Travel Trailer · Discontinued Line (built 2005–2026) · Used-Fleet Reference

KeystoneOutback

A two-decade Keystone travel-trailer nameplate — built from 2005 through the 2026 model year and then dropped from the brand's directory. The used fleet is what remains, and this hub is its spec record: eight MY2024 floorplans profiled with a complete, factory-cross-checked weight set, and the 2025 and final 2026 rosters catalogued exactly as far as their published record reaches.

01 Line status — measured, not assumed

Keystone no longer lists the Outback. That is a measured finding, verified twice on this site: the line is absent from Keystone's product-line directory and from the brand's travel-trailer type page, and the Outback floorplan URLs on keystonerv.com now redirect to a generic category page. Search-engine result snippets still show cached Outback pages; following them lands on the redirect. The final model year is 2026.

For a used buyer this changes what a spec record means. There is no factory page to check a listing against, so the governing sources become the published archival record — and the trailer itself. This hub anchors on model year 2024, the newest year whose published record carries the complete cardinal weight set (dry weight, GVWR, payload and hitch weight): RVUSA's structured 2024 floorplan records publish all four for every plan, and Keystone's own 2024 factory brochure prints a specification table that matches those records cell for cell — 53 of 54 weight and tank cells identical, with the single disagreement documented below rather than resolved.

02 MY2024 floorplans profiled in depth

Eight of the nine 2024 floorplans are profiled with the full published weight set; dry weight plus payload equals GVWR exactly on every one. The ninth (343DB) is catalogued below with its published-source conflict displayed. Each code links to a full plan page with dimensions, tanks, the factory 2024 equipment list and used-buyer checks.

Weights are the published 2024 base-unit figures (RVUSA structured records, matched against the factory brochure table). On any used unit the federal weight sticker on the trailer governs — options change every figure above.

03 One plan, two published numbers — 343DB

The 2024 Outback 343DB carries a published-source conflict this site displays rather than resolves. RVUSA's structured record publishes dry 8,265 lb, payload 2,050 lb and an explicit GVWR of 10,315 lb — and those three tie out exactly. Keystone's 2024 factory brochure prints the same dry weight but a carrying capacity of 2,235 lb, which implies the 10,500 lb GVWR the rest of the roster carries.

Both sources are in-class and neither can be dismissed from the desk. Until a unit's own federal weight sticker settles it, the 343DB is catalogued here — dry 8,265 lb, hitch 1,165 lb, tanks and dimensions matching its stablemates — and not profiled to a single GVWR. If you are shortlisting a 343DB, read the sticker on the specific trailer: it states that unit's GVWR and cargo capacity as built, and it outranks both published figures above.

04 The roster, year to year

The Outback roster moved sharply in its last three years: nine floorplans in 2024, fourteen in 2025 as Keystone added a run of smaller plans alongside the carried-over nine, and ten in the final 2026 year after the largest plans were cut. The 2025 and 2026 records publish hitch weight, payload (2026), tanks, dimensions and MSRP — but no dry weight and no GVWR in any verifiable source: the factory site is gone, the 2025 brochure prints a single unlabeled weight with several plans marked TBD, and the 2026 brochure carries no specification table at all. Those fields are shown below as exactly what they are: not published.

2025 roster (14 plans, catalogued): 212RB, 221MD, 252RD, 271FK, 291BH, 328RL, 330RL, 332ML, 335CG, 340BH, 341RD, 342CG, 343DB, 370BH. The nine 2024 codes carried over unchanged; the five smaller plans (212RB, 221MD, 252RD, 271FK, 291BH) joined for 2025 and defined the final-year line.

MY2026 figures are RVUSA's published structured records for the final year. "Not published" means exactly that — no in-class source publishes the field, and this site does not estimate. MSRPs where published ran $51,752–$77,748.

05 What every MY2024 Outback has

The factory's 2024 brochure publishes one Premium standard-feature set across the roster: a 10.5-inch Norco BAL Z-channel huck-bolted frame, a fully walkable roof under a one-piece Alpha Super Flex TPO membrane with a limited lifetime warranty, a heated and enclosed underbelly with electric tank heating pads, tandem 5,100-pound Dexter E-Z Lube axles with 10-inch electric brakes on leaf springs, 15-inch radial tires on aluminum wheels, Lippert SolidStep entry steps, dual 30-pound propane bottles with auto-changeover, a Girard tankless on-demand water heater, 50-amp shore power, a Coleman-Mach Quiet Series 15K ducted air conditioner, a 35,000-BTU furnace with the Elements extended-season climate package, SolarFlex solar power and a 10-cubic-foot 12-volt refrigerator. Every plan is a bumper-pull travel trailer — the line never included another tow type. Fresh/grey/black tankage runs 54/76/38 gallons across the 2024 roster (2024 figures; the 2026 small plans vary and are tabled above).

Coverage is not complete, and this matters. These campaigns come from two passes over NHTSA’s public record: a query-by-query harvest of the recall API (1,556 queries, of which 0 failed and 242 returned an explicit zero), and a sweep of NHTSA’s complete recall flat file (325,618 rows), which added 41 campaigns the API harvest had missed. It missed them because the roster it worked from was built by a catalog endpoint that refuses most requests, so entire manufacturer names were never asked about — NHTSA files several Forest River sub-brands as makes of their own. Two limits remain: NHTSA sometimes files a roster under a parent name, and some matches below rest on the wording of the recall rather than its model field. Campaigns affecting only pre-2005 units fall outside this catalog’s range and are not listed. This page is a starting point, not a clearance. Check a specific VIN at NHTSA before you buy, and again before you tow.

How this count is drawn. A report is counted here only when NHTSA’s own model field names this line. What the owner typed in the description is never used to attribute a report: our line names are ordinary English words, and an owner writing “imagine my surprise when the axle went” or naming the state of Montana is not reporting a Grand Design Imagine or a Keystone Montana.

Read these as reports, not as findings. Complaints are submitted by owners and NHTSA does not verify them; no complaint here has been confirmed as a defect, and none of them is a recall. The sample is also self-selected — only owners motivated to file appear in it — so a high count tracks how many units a line sold at least as much as how well it was built. Use the pattern, not the total: a component that keeps recurring is worth inspecting on any used unit. File or search complaints at NHTSA.
