01 What makes it unique

The Salem Hemisphere 275RL is the single-slide rear-living couples coach — a rear lounge wrapped in windows, a kitchen island amidships and a front private bedroom, in a 35-foot full-Hemisphere body. Where most rear-living plans need two or three slides, the 275RL achieves the layout with a single slide, which keeps weight and complexity down. Its twin in the Wildwood Heritage Glen 275RL is the identical trailer in different décor.

It carries the full-Hemisphere build: a vacuum-laminated “Aluma Frame” sidewall and floor with block-foam insulation, a WeatherShield one-piece fiberglass roof, 82-inch sidewalls, Nordic Marble counters, a 10-cubic-foot 12V refrigerator and an 18,000-BTU Furrion Chill Cube with a standard second 13,500-BTU air conditioner, a fireplace, JBL audio and a 50-inch TV. A 200-watt roof-solar package is optional.

With a 9,715-pound derived GVWR the 275RL leaves about 1,282 pounds of cargo capacity — the tightest payload in the line, a consequence of packing a rear-living coach onto a single-slide chassis, so weigh your loaded trailer and pack with care. At 8,433 pounds dry with a 915-pound tongue it tows behind a capable half-ton or three-quarter-ton. For two who want a windowed rear lounge and an island kitchen in the Hemisphere’s laminate build without stepping up to a triple-slide coach — with the identical Wildwood Heritage Glen to cross-shop — the 275RL is a distinctive rear-living option.

Loaded weight budget

Drawn from this page’s published figures. The bar runs from empty to GVWR: the dark band is dry weight, the light band is everything you are allowed to add — water, propane, batteries and gear all come out of it. This plan’s GVWR was derived as dry weight plus cargo capacity because no source published it directly.

Overall length and height are drawn true to scale from the published figures, and the end view uses the same scale. Axle count is as published; axle position, wheel size and the nose profile are schematic. This is a size drawing, not a floorplan, and not a claim about body shape.

Holding tanks

Published tank capacities on one scale. A full fresh tank is about 375 lbs of water — roughly 29% of this plan’s 1,282 lb cargo capacity, before you load anything else.

These graphics are generated from the same verified record that builds the table above, and are published under this site’s own licence — nothing here is traced from, or derived from, a manufacturer drawing or photo. Where a figure is not published for this plan, the graphic that would need it is omitted rather than estimated. The full record is in the published dataset.

What it takes to tow this

Built from this floorplan’s verified weights. We publish the trailer side only.

Minimum tow rating your vehicle needs9,715 lb*
Published dry tongue weight915 lb
Loaded tongue weight, typical range972–1,457 lb
Minimum receiver hitch capacity9,715 lb towed / 1,457 lb tongue
The tongue weight above is dry. It is the figure the manufacturer publishes for an empty trailer. Loaded — with water, propane, batteries and your gear — it runs higher, which is why the range row uses loaded weight. Sizing your truck off the dry number under-budgets your payload.
The arithmetic that actually binds. Open your driver’s door and read the payload figure on the yellow-and-white sticker — that number is specific to your truck as built. Subtract from it: loaded tongue weight (use the range above), every passenger, everything in the bed and cab, and the weight-distributing hitch itself where one is used. What is left is your margin. Payload, not tow rating, is what most half-ton owners run out of first.

We do not publish tow ratings for specific trucks. A single model can vary by thousands of pounds depending on engine, axle ratio, cab, drivetrain and package — the only authoritative figure is the one on your own door jamb. Loaded tongue percentages are industry convention for travel trailers (10–15% of loaded weight), not a measurement of this unit. Hitch classes are not used here as a rating: SAE J684 covers trailers to 10,000 lb GVWR and does not define Class V, and capacity boundaries differ between manufacturers — read the rating stamped on your hitch. The GVWR marked * is derived from published dry weight plus published cargo capacity, not printed as a single figure by the source.

03 Salem Hemisphere & Wildwood Heritage Glen floorplan family

Forest River's Salem Hemisphere and its twin the Wildwood Heritage Glen are the same premium-laminate travel trailers built on the same factory line, differing mainly in graphics and décor and sharing an identical floorplan roster. Hemisphere sits at the top of the Salem / Wildwood travel-trailer ladder — a vacuum-laminated "Aluma Frame" coach with a one-piece fiberglass roof, Nordic Marble counters, an 18,000-BTU Furrion Chill Cube and an automotive windshield — in two tiers: a lighter Hyper-Lyte series of half-ton plans and a heavier full-Hemisphere series of triple-slide family and couples' coaches. The 275RL on this page is highlighted; each other profiled plan links to its own page. The line runs to roughly two dozen travel-trailer floorplans plus a fifth-wheel range; the highest-demand layouts are detailed here and the rest are catalogued on the line hub.

Every Salem Hemisphere and Wildwood Heritage Glen trailer is built on a vacuum-laminated "Aluma Frame" sidewall and floor with block-foam insulation, a WeatherShield one-piece fiberglass roof, 82-inch sidewalls and wide-stance 42-inch axles, and ships with an Elevated Value Package (one-piece fiberglass roof, 60,000-BTU tankless water heater, JBL audio, flush-floor slides) and an Expedition Package (60-by-80 or 72-by-80 beds, 18,000-BTU Furrion main A/C, enclosed underbelly with 12V tank heaters, washer/dryer prep). The full-Hemisphere plans add a standard second 13,500-BTU air conditioner (not the 261FKRB or 265BSRB), an electric fireplace on most models, a 50-inch smart TV and an outside kitchen on the larger bunk and rear-living plans. A roof-mounted 200-watt solar package is optional on every plan. Lengths, weights and equipment change with options, region and model year — always confirm against the unit's own weight sticker. Additional Hemisphere travel-trailer floorplans (and the Hemisphere fifth-wheel range) are catalogued on the line hub.

04 What owners & reviewers report

A rear lounge on a single slide

A panoramic-window rear living area and a kitchen island, with a front private bedroom — a rear-living layout achieved with just one slide-out, unusual for the configuration and lighter for it.

Tightest payload in the line

At a 9,715-lb derived GVWR over an 8,433-lb dry weight, the 275RL leaves about 1,282 lb of cargo capacity — the lowest of any Hemisphere travel trailer. Weigh the loaded trailer and pack deliberately, especially with full water.

Awning size not published

The factory floorplan record does not state the 275RL’s awning length; the power awning is standard but its size is shown unverified and excluded from the completeness figure.

GVWR is derived, not published

Forest River publishes UVW (8,433) and CCC (1,282) but not GVWR; the 9,715-lb figure is UVW + CCC, Forest River’s own definition. Flagged.

Sleeps figure varies

Forest River omits a sleeping count; dealers list the 275RL at two to four (the queen plus a convertible). Shown as “up to 4”.

Selling price, not MSRP

Dealer MSRP placards on this plan run into the $60,000s while selling prices cluster around $46,000; the figure shown is dealer-typical and flagged.

06 Loading it for a trip

This floorplan carries its water comfortably. A full 45-gallon fresh tank is roughly 29% of the 1,282-pound cargo capacity, leaving the 275RL with a usable gear budget even when you tow full.

Weight budgetFigureWhat it means
Cargo capacity as published (CCC)1,282 lbEverything you add: gear, water, propane, batteries, food, people’s belongings.

Cargo budget left with a full fresh tank907 lb29% of this plan’s capacity is spent before a single bag is loaded.
Per sleeping position, water aboard227 lbA rough share of what is left across the 4 berths this plan sleeps.

The published dry tongue weight of 915 pounds is 11% of the 8,433-pound dry weight, which sits inside the 10–15% band usually quoted for stable towing. It is still a dry figure: loading the front pass-through and the fresh tank both push it up.

Nothing above changes the ceiling. Loaded to its 9,715-pound GVWR the 275RL is towing 1,282 pounds more than its 8,433-pound dry figure, and that is the number your vehicle has to be rated for — not the brochure weight.

Tank balance is generous here: 45 gallons of fresh against 60 grey and 30 black, so waste capacity keeps pace with supply and the fresh tank is the constraint that ends a dry stay.

07 Where this floorplan sits

Ranked by GVWR, the 275RL sits 5 of 12 in the Salem Hemisphere & Heritage Glen line: 9,715 pounds against a line that runs from 7,595 to 11,665 pounds. That position is the useful thing to know, because the plans immediately either side of it are the real alternatives.

Either side of it in the same line: Salem Hemisphere & Heritage Glen 28RKHL is 75 pounds lighter at 9,640 lb GVWR; and Salem Hemisphere & Heritage Glen 265BSRB is 25 pounds heavier at 9,740 lb GVWR.

Against the 275RL: the Transcend Xplor 27DBX is 9 lb heavier and 3 ft shorter and sleeps 2 more; the Puma Tracks 3060RKTS is 12 lb lighter and 2 ft longer; the Viking 282DORM is 15 lb heavier and 2 ft longer. Those are differences in the published numbers only — what they cost, how they are built and how they live are separate questions each of those pages answers on its own terms.

Those are the nearest travel trailers from other lines by weight — one per line, picked by proximity on that figure and nothing else. They are listed so the same tow vehicle can be checked against real alternatives, not because they are equivalent inside; layout, build and price diverge sharply across that group.

For scale, the Salem Hemisphere & Heritage Glen floorplans profiled here run 4,883 to 9,893 pounds dry and 25 to 39 feet of exterior length across 12 plans. Where a floorplan falls in that spread usually says more about which vehicle can tow it, and which site it fits, than the layout name does.

08 Common questions about the 275RL

How much does the 275RL weigh?

It leaves the factory at 8,433 pounds dry, and its manufacturer-set loaded ceiling (GVWR) is 9,715 pounds. Real towing weight lands between the two and depends entirely on what you load. Use the GVWR when matching a tow vehicle; the dry figure is only useful for comparing floorplans against each other.

How much can the 275RL carry?

Cargo carrying capacity is 1,282 pounds. That is the whole budget: water, propane, batteries, gear and everything you bring. Filling the 45-gallon fresh tank uses about 375 pounds of that.

What is the tongue weight of the 275RL?

The published dry tongue weight is 915 pounds. It is measured empty; loaded, it runs higher, and it comes out of your tow vehicle’s payload rather than its tow rating.

What size tow vehicle does the 275RL need?

Your vehicle needs a tow rating of at least 9,715 pounds — this floorplan’s GVWR — and enough payload left over for the hitch load, passengers and anything in the bed. This site does not publish tow ratings for specific vehicles, because one truck model varies by thousands of pounds across engine, axle ratio, cab and package. The figure that governs is the payload sticker on your own door jamb.

How many people does the 275RL sleep?

It is rated to sleep 4. Rated sleeping positions include convertible furniture, so count the beds against how you actually travel rather than against the number.

What are the tank capacities on the 275RL?

Fresh 45 gallons, grey 60 gallons, black 30 gallons. Tank sizes set how long the floorplan can sit away from hookups, and the smallest of the three is what ends the stay.

How long is the 275RL?

Exterior length is 35' 0". Measure against your site length and your storage before committing — the exterior figure is the one that has to fit, and it includes the tongue or pin box.

Every figure in these answers is read from this page’s verified specification table. Where the manufacturer publishes nothing, the question is not answered rather than estimated.

09 What this page publishes, and what it does not

This catalog tracks 18 specification fields per floorplan. Named sources publish 16 of them for the 275RL. The rest are not shown, because the alternative is reading a figure across from a sibling floorplan or from what the segment usually does — and a number nobody published is worth less than an admitted gap.

Not published for this floorplan: interior height, awning, tire size (a tire description is published, a size is not). If you find one of these in a manufacturer document for this plan, it belongs on this page.

The completeness figure at the foot of this page (93%) measures the same thing on the full field set: it is a measurement of how much this floorplan’s manufacturer publishes, not of how much research went into the page.

Values on this page carrying an asterisk were derived by arithmetic from published figures, or come from a single source, rather than being printed directly by the manufacturer. The flag travels with the number into the downloadable spec sheet.

How every figure here was sourced and checked is set out on the methodology page.

11 NHTSA safety record

NHTSA files neither recalls nor complaints under the name Salem Hemisphere & Heritage Glen. That is a filing convention and not a clean record — the roster sits under the parent line, Salem & Wildwood.

Recall coverage is not complete — our harvest of NHTSA’s recall API ran 1,556 queries, of which 0 failed and 242 returned an explicit zero. A line can still be under-reported where NHTSA files a roster under a parent name, or where a match rests on the wording of the recall rather than its model field. Complaints come from the complete bulk file but are unverified and self-selected: a high count tracks how many units a line sold at least as much as how well it was built. Check a specific VIN at NHTSA before you buy. Full tables are on the Salem & Wildwood line page.
