01 What makes it unique
KZ lists the 2027 Sportster X 22X at 7,940 lb unloaded (UVW), with a GVWR of 12,000 lb, a cargo carrying capacity of 3,950 lb and a dry hitch weight of 1,210 lb. KZ’s own figures do not add up — a conflict, stated not resolved: UVW plus cargo capacity is 11,890 lb, against a GVWR of 12,000 lb. All three are printed as KZ gives them and none is corrected; the federal label on the trailer is the one to trust.
It is 28' 5" long and 12' 6" high with the air conditioner, with 94 gal fresh, 76 gal grey and 40 gal black tanks. Fresh water weighs about 8.3 lb per US gallon, so a full fresh tank uses roughly 780 lb of the cargo capacity before anything else is loaded.
Among the 7 Sportster X floorplans KZ lists for 2027 with a published weight, it is number 2 by unloaded weight, in a range from 7,080 lb (20X) to 14,620 lb (3914X). Every figure in that comparison is KZ’s, for the same model year.
Every number on this page was read on 5 Nov 2026 from KZ’s own floorplan page for the Sportster X 22X, whose floorplan drawing KZ labels 2027. KZ notes that its UVW reflects a rolling average for the model and that your trailer will vary with optional equipment.

Towing it
Check your vehicle. Enter the ratings from your owner’s manual and the door-pillar placard.
Compares your figures with this page’s published GVWR (12,000 lb) and the upper loaded tongue estimate (1,800 lb, a rule of thumb). Your vehicle’s placard and the trailer’s own weight label govern. This floorplan’s published dry weight plus cargo capacity comes to 11,890 lb, which is not its published GVWR; the check uses the published GVWR.
Loaded range: 10–15% of GVWR on the tongue, a rule of thumb, not a measurement of this unit. No truck ratings or hitch classes (why; NHTSA, DOT HS 809 433). The range starts at the published dry figure, because loaded is never lighter than dry.

What KZ does not publish for the 22X
KZ’s page prints no axle count and no price against this floorplan, so none is given. Nothing is filled from a sibling floorplan, a different model year or a dealer listing.
Read the label on the trailer
Federal rules put a load-carrying label inside every RV trailer: its unloaded weight with full propane, its cargo carrying capacity and its GVWR (49 CFR 571.110 and 571.120). Those figures come from the trailer itself and govern the towing decision.
05 How it compares
7,080 lb UVW and 10,000 lb GVWR, against this plan’s 7,940 lb and 12,000 lb.
8,530 lb UVW and 12,750 lb GVWR, against this plan’s 7,940 lb and 12,000 lb.
06 Loading it for a trip
A full 94-gallon fresh tank is about 780 lb of water (water counts as cargo: 49 CFR 571.120 S10.4.2), 20% of the 22X’s 3,950 lb cargo capacity, leaving 3,170 lb (528 lb per rated berth). Across 7 Sportster X floorplans the water share runs 15% to 34%, and 3 give up more than this one. Nearest on that share: Sportster X 3018X at 19% and Sportster X 33X at 25%. Your own unit’s figure is on the label inside its entry door (49 CFR 571.120 S10.4.3).
