01 What East to West publishes for the Tandara

East to West RV, a division of Forest River, Inc. lists 8 Tandara fifth wheels in its 2027 Tandara model pages. East to West prints a dry weight for every one profiled here, and each has a page of its own. It prints a GVWR for 0 of them. It prints a net carrying capacity for 8; on the 0 that carry both that and a GVWR, the dry weight plus the carrying capacity equals the GVWR exactly on 0. (How the data is verified.)

Read from East to West’s 2027 Tandara model pages, 5 Nov 2026. “Not published” means the maker prints no figure; nothing is filled from another model, year or dealer.

03 Reading East to West’s figures

A maker’s published weight is for a base trailer; options and dealer-installed equipment add weight to any particular unit. The federal weight label inside the trailer carries its own unloaded weight, cargo carrying capacity and GVWR (49 CFR 567 and 571.120): read it on the unit itself before any towing decision.

05 Recalls

NHTSA lists 3 recall campaigns affecting this line. The earliest was reported 29 Jul 2022 and the most recent 22 Sep 2023.

ReportedCampaignComponentWhat can go wrong
22 Sep 202323V648000StructureA ladder that detaches can increase the risk of injury.
13 Apr 202323V262000EquipmentLoose hardware can cause the solar panels to detach from the vehicle during transit, increasing the risk of a crash.
29 Jul 202222V556000EquipmentAn awning that drops or extends beyond normal operation can increase the risk of injury.

Coverage is not complete: this list is a starting point, not a clearance (how it is built), so check a specific VIN at NHTSA before you buy and again before you tow.

This count covers campaigns NHTSA files under the East to West Tandara name. The Blackthorn / Tandara page counts the same campaigns; one 2024 campaign (23V648000) names both badges.

19 Sep 2026Structure › Body—Well, they have already admitted to forgetting a weld in the aluminum framing which cause another weld to break causing a ton of other problems. They worked on it at the factory and said it was all fixed. It is not. The bolts holding the walls to the chassis on the upper deck still move up and down…
17 Dec 2025Structure—I have a [XXX] . VIN is [XXX] but doesn’t pull anything up when searched. I tried calling to report my concern but I am now making another complaint as what the call taker typed, is not even close to what I reported. There was a missing weld in the aluminum framing which caused another weld to…

The contact stated that after a visual inspection, he became aware that the bolts used to secure the RV's body to the frame were missing in several locations. The RV was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the frame welding, resulting…

This trip on the passenger side the front tire blew out. The first blow out caused damage to the rear portion of my Rv. These tires will cause an accident on a major…
4 May 2023Tires—We have a 2022 Tandara East to West Fifth Wheel we bought in January 2022. On vacation in Arizona we had a blow out on the fifth wheel the Castle Rock tires. This camper is only 15 months old and we took it out maybe 5 times last year camping around our home. The driver front tire blew out did…

How this count is drawn. A report is counted here only when NHTSA’s own model field names this line. What the owner typed in the description is never used to attribute a report: our line names are ordinary English words, and an owner writing “imagine my surprise when the axle went” or naming the state of Montana is not reporting a Grand Design Imagine or a Keystone Montana.

Read these as reports, not as findings. Complaints are submitted by owners and NHTSA does not verify them; no complaint here has been confirmed as a defect, and none of them is a recall. The sample is also self-selected — only owners motivated to file appear in it — so a high count tracks how many units a line sold at least as much as how well it was built. Use the pattern, not the total: a component that keeps recurring is worth inspecting on any used unit. File or search complaints at NHTSA.

What reviewers say

Independent reviews of this line, summarised in this site’s own words and linked to the original. Each says whether the reviewer actually towed or inspected the trailer. Reviews are opinions about the year and floorplan they looked at; every figure on this site still comes only from the maker’s own documents.

RV Travel (RVtravel.com) · not stated 321RL-OK (also 320RL) · by Tony Barthel, 2022-08-22

Not a hands-on test: written from the maker’s information and the reviewer’s own research.

Tony Barthel says this Tandara is more than OK: heated underbelly without floor vents, a real 22-inch oven, a one-hand folding couch, a wall-mounted table, a shower with a seat and fridge access with the slide in. He dislikes door-less cabinets and a four-inch upstairs bath fan, notes no standard solar and an outdoor kitchen without a sink.
