01 What makes the 2025 24BH different

The Jay Feather 24BH is one of Jayco's Jay Feather travel trailers, the lightweight step-up line positioned above the value Jay Flight SLX and below the premium Eagle HT. This page covers one model year of it — the 2025 24BH, exactly as Jayco published it — because the numbers that decide whether your truck can pull this trailer are not the same from one year to the next. Jayco publishes it at 8' 0" wide closed and 10' 11" with the slide-outs run out for the 2025 model year, which is the measurement that matters for a site pitch as well as for the road.

For the 2025 model year Jayco published a 7,500-pound GVWR on a 6,080-pound dry weight, 1,420 pounds of published cargo capacity, a 670-pound dry tongue weight. That dry tongue is 11% of the dry weight, inside the 10–15% band conventionally quoted for a bumper-pull trailer. Tongue weight is not fixed — it moves with how the trailer is loaded, and weight added ahead of the axles raises it. A tongue load in that range wants a weight-distribution hitch, and the tow vehicle's tongue-weight limit is a separate number from its trailer-weight limit — check the loaded tongue against the hitch receiver's rating and the vehicle's payload, not against the tow rating alone. The 2025 trailer left the factory on ST205/75R14'D' tyres; the load range in that code is part of the axle rating and a replacement set has to match it.

Against the 2024 build of the same floorplan, 5 published fields moved. The full comparison is in section 02, and it is drawn from two separate verified factory records rather than from one record and an assumption about the other.

A 2025 trailer is close to current as of 2026, but section 05 still applies: check it against its build date rather than its model year. Jayco commonly builds a model year well before the calendar year turns, and the tyre date codes have to be read against the build month, not the badge.

How the 24BH differs from the other 46 Jay Feather floorplans. Most distinctive first. Sibling pages may cover other model years than this one (2021–2025). How these ranks are worked out.

  • Cargo capacity as a share of GVWR, 18.9%: shared with the 29QBH; of 47, seven smaller and 38 larger, nearest the 27RK (18.8%) and the 24RL (19%).
  • Dry weight, 6,080 lb: sixteenth-heaviest of 47, between the 23MBD (6,045 lb) and the 27BHB (6,210 lb).
  • Dry tongue weight as a share of dry weight, 11%: shared with the 21MBH and 22BH; of 47, eleven smaller and 33 larger, nearest the 23MBD (10.9%) and the 25BH (11.1%).
  • Sleeping capacity, 8: shared with the 16DB, 199MBS and four others; of 47, 33 smaller and seven larger, nearest the 22BH and 23MBD (7) and the 27BHB and 30QB (9).

Next to the 27BHB (2021–2024 page), the nearest heavier floorplan by dry weight, the 24BH is 130 lb lighter by dry weight, has a GVWR 100 lb lower, has 30 lb more cargo capacity, has a dry tongue weight 40 lb lighter, is 3 ft 6 in shorter and sleeps one fewer; the two publish the same exterior height, interior height, fresh tank, grey tank and black tank.

Specifications by model year

This floorplan has a published factory record for 5 model years here, 2021 to 2025. The specification does not hold still: GVWR runs from 7,250 lb (2021) to 7,500 lb (2025); dry weight runs from 6,000 lb (2024) to 6,220 lb (2021); dry tongue weight runs from 660 lb (2021) to 740 lb (2023). The published sleeping capacity changes across the years: 7-8 in 2021, 6-8 in 2022, up to 6 in 2023–2024, up to 8 in 2025. Each year’s complete record is printed separately below, carrying only that year’s own published figures and source. Nothing is copied across from a neighbouring year.

Every row is that model year’s own record from Jayco’s model page or factory brochure for that year, as the source line for each year names. The figures in the tow-critical placard at the top of this page are the 2025 record from the source this catalogue originally profiled. On the weights, overall length and tire size, that record and Jayco’s own 2025 model page agree on every field both of them publish. Exterior height is not compared: Jayco publishes a bare height, a with-A/C height and a with-2nd-A/C height, and the single height row carried here cannot be matched to one of them, so no claim is made either way.

What changed for the 2021 model year

2021 is the earliest model year of the 24BH on this site, so there is no earlier record to set it against. Section 01 compares it with 2022.

Source for 2021. Specifications reflect the 2021 model year as published by Jayco on its own 2021 factory brochure for this product line, and are dry factory figures for a base unit. Options, dealer-installed equipment and cargo all add weight. A travel trailer puts its tongue load on the tow vehicle's hitch and through its rear axle, so the loaded tongue must be checked against the receiver's rating and the vehicle's payload, not against its tow rating. Dry weight plus cargo capacity ties out exactly to the published GVWR for this model year. CamperTrailers.com publishes verified manufacturer data and is not affiliated with Jayco, Inc.

Payload check. Budget loaded, not dry: subtract the loaded range, every passenger, the bed and cab load and a weight-distributing hitch from the payload on your tow vehicle’s door-pillar placard (49 CFR 571.110 S4.3).

Check your vehicle. Enter the ratings from your owner’s manual and the door-pillar placard.

Compares your figures with this page’s published GVWR (7,500 lb) and the upper loaded tongue estimate (1,125 lb, a rule of thumb). Your vehicle’s placard and the trailer’s own weight label govern.

Loaded range: 10–15% of GVWR on the tongue, a rule of thumb, not a measurement of this unit. No truck ratings or hitch classes (why; NHTSA, DOT HS 809 433).

Every row is that model year's own factory record, and each year links to its own page. The fuller table at the top of this page adds cargo capacity and names any model year that is deliberately not published here.

Sleeps changed for 2025

Sleeps was up to 6 for 2024 and is up to 8 for 2025. Both figures are the manufacturer's own for their year.

Where these numbers come from

Every figure on this page is read from Jayco's own 2025 model page for the 24BH — one source, one model year, no blending. The all-years parent page sets this year beside every other model year we hold, and where the record this catalogue originally profiled disagrees with Jayco's own model page, both figures are published there and neither is adjusted.

Fields Jayco does not publish for 2025

For this model year the factory record omits: Furnace, Auto-ignition (BTU output). Those rows read “Not published” on this page. They are deliberately not filled in from an adjacent model year — a neighbouring year's figure is an inference about this one, not a measurement of it.

04 Buying a 2025 24BH at 1 model years old

Tyres are the first thing to age out

RV tyres are usually replaced on age rather than tread, at roughly five to seven years from the DOT date code on the sidewall. On a 1-year-old trailer the originals (ST205/75R14'D') may still be fitted — read the four-digit date code, not the tread.

Roof and seam sealant is on a service interval

Travel trailers rely on sealant at every roof penetration, along the front cap and around every window and marker light. Inspection is typically annual and re-sealing every few years; ask for the service records rather than assuming.

Weigh it before you tow it

Every weight on this page is a DRY factory figure for the 2025 model year. A used trailer carries its previous owner's additions, and a travel trailer puts its tongue load on the tow vehicle's hitch and through its rear axle. Weigh the loaded rig at a public scale and check it against the tow vehicle's payload, rear-axle and hitch ratings.

06 Loading it for a trip

A full 55-gallon fresh tank is about 457 lb of water (water counts as cargo: 49 CFR 571.110 S9.3.2), 32% of the 24BH’s 1,420 lb cargo capacity, leaving 964 lb (120 lb per rated berth). Across 47 Jay Feather floorplans the water share runs 23% to 43%, and 16 give up more than this one. Nearest on that share: Jay Feather 16DB at 32% and Jay Feather 21MML at 32%.
