01 What makes it unique

The Wildwood X-Lite 28ICE leaves Forest River's factory at 6,688 lbs dry with 987 lbs of cargo capacity. Forest River publishes no GVWR for this line, so the loaded rating is not quoted on this page and is not computed from the other two figures. What the cargo number covers is defined by the factory: fresh water, gear, food, batteries and every dealer-installed accessory come out of it. Fresh water is 8.3 lb per gallon, so filling the 44-gallon fresh tank spends 365 lbs of the 987 lbs before anything else goes in.

Forest River’s 2026 Wildwood / X-Lite brochure draws the 28ICE with a Versa-Tilt custom king bed with a closet and overhead cabinets at the front. Mid-coach: a bath with a walk-in shower, a closet and a linen cabinet; an entertainment center with a fireplace; a dinette, a Versa-Lounge and a fridge in a slide; a hidden pantry; and a kitchen with overhead cabinets. At the rear: a bunk room with a bunk above and a bunk below. It shows one slide-out and an 18-foot awning. Outside it labels an outside fridge and full pass-through storage. That brochure prints UVW 6,708 lb, hitch weight 770 lb, length 32' 11" for the 28ICE; the figures above, from Forest River’s own floorplan page, read 6,688 lb, 675 lb, 32' 2". Two 2026 Forest River records differ: the figures on this page are the floorplan page’s, and the drawing described here is the brochure’s. Layouts change with options; check the unit itself.

Tongue weight is 675 lbs, 10% of the dry weight as published; it rises as the trailer is loaded and counts against the tow vehicle’s tongue-weight and payload limits (tongue weight by size).

Off hookups: 60 gallons of grey and black capacity against 44 gallons of fresh water, so fresh water runs out first (tank sizes by length).

Against the rest of the Wildwood X-Lite roster this is the 10th of 10 floorplans by dry weight, in a line that runs from 5,063 lbs to 6,688 lbs. It is the heaviest plan in the line, so the tow vehicle should be settled before the floorplan is.

Plan the tow on loaded weight, not the 6,688 lbs dry figure: half the published cargo capacity brings this plan to about 7,182 lbs. Forest River publishes no loaded rating for this line, so the ceiling is the one on the trailer’s own weight label (how to read trailer weights).

Forest River’s line listing and this floorplan’s own factory page agree on all 4 shared figures. No GVWR is published for this line, so dry plus cargo has no rating to check against. A missing row means Forest River does not publish that figure (how figures are verified).

Forest River publishes no written floorplan description for this plan; the layout described above is read off Forest River’s own floorplan drawing for this model year. 28ICE is a Wildwood X-Lite designation, and this site does not decode the code itself into a layout claim.

How the 28ICE differs from the other nine Wildwood X-Lite floorplans. Most distinctive first. Sibling pages may cover other model years than this one (2026). How these ranks are worked out.

  • Dry weight, 6,688 lb: heaviest of ten; next is the 23ZEN (6,398 lb).
  • Cargo capacity, 987 lb: smallest of ten; next is the 23ZEN (1,432 lb).
  • Tongue weight as a share of dry weight, 10.1%: smallest of ten; next is the 25RLXL (10.5%).
  • Exterior height, 10 ft 3 in: lowest of ten; next are the 240BHXL, 25ICE and four others (10 ft 4 in).
  • Tongue weight, 675 lb: fourth-lightest of ten, between the 240BHXL (570 lb) and the 273QBXL (680 lb).
  • Length, 32 ft 2 in: fourth-longest of ten, between the 263BHXL (31 ft 9 in) and the 26ICE (32 ft 9 in).
  • Grey tank, 30 gal: shared with the 24RLXL and 273QBXL; of ten, one smaller and six larger, nearest the 28VBXL (28 gal) and the 23ZEN (40 gal).

Next to the 23ZEN, the nearest lighter floorplan by dry weight, the 28ICE is 290 lb heavier by dry weight, has 445 lb less cargo capacity, has a tongue weight 155 lb lighter, is 1 ft 1 in longer, stands 2 in lower and has a grey tank 10 gal smaller; the two publish the same fresh tank and black tank.

03 The Wildwood X-Lite floorplan family

Wildwood X-Lite is the value-tier travel trailer in the Wildwood family, seventeen published floorplans from 3,836 to 8,143 lb dry on lengths of 22 feet 8 inches to 34 feet 7 inches. Tongue weight runs 520 to 965 lb across the whole roster, which is light for the length. Eight of the seventeen plans are dealer-stock-only, including a separate West Coast dealer-stock grouping the factory lists on its own. Forest River publishes no GVWR for any X-Lite floorplan.

Wildwood X-Lite is Forest River's lightweight Wildwood travel trailer, seventeen floorplans published, eight of them dealer-stock-only - one grouping of which the factory labels West Coast. Forest River publishes dry weight, cargo capacity, tongue weight, all three exterior dimensions, all three tank capacities and awning size for every plan, and no GVWR for any of them. Sleeping capacity, axle count, tire size and MSRP are not published in this channel.

04 Notes on this floorplan

What Forest River does not publish for this line

Sleeping capacity, axle count, tire size and MSRP are not in Forest River’s specification channel for Wildwood X-Lite, so this page does not publish them and does not estimate them (how figures are verified).

There is no factory GVWR for this trailer

Forest River publishes dry weight, cargo capacity and tongue weight for every Wildwood X-Lite floorplan and publishes no GVWR for any of them. The factory's own glossary defines cargo capacity as GVWR minus UVW, which means the rating can be worked out - and a figure you worked out is not a figure the manufacturer published, so this page does not print one. Use the weight label on the trailer itself, which every Forest River unit carries.

Weigh it before you tow it

Forest River calls its unloaded weight an estimated average for a standard build, and options and dealer add-ons change it, so weigh your own trailer loaded the way you travel (how figures are verified).

05 How it compares

Lighter
Wildwood X-Lite 23ZEN

6,398 lbs dry against this plan's 6,688 lbs, a difference of 290 lbs.

Most cargo in the line
Wildwood X-Lite 24RLXL

2,487 lbs of cargo capacity, the highest of the 10 Wildwood X-Lite floorplans profiled here. If payload rather than length is the binding constraint, that is the plan to compare against.

06 Loading it for a trip

A full 44-gallon fresh tank is about 365 lb of water, 37% of the 28ICE’s 987 lb cargo capacity, leaving 622 lb. Across 10 Wildwood X-Lite floorplans the water share runs 15% to 37%, and this plan’s is the highest. Nearest on that share: Wildwood X-Lite 23ZEN at 26%.

07 Where this floorplan sits
