01 What makes it unique

The Coachmen Apex Ultra-Lite 241BHS leaves Coachmen's factory at 5,874 lbs dry, with a published GVWR of 7,752 lbs and 1,878 lbs of cargo capacity between the two. Cargo capacity is 24% of the loaded rating, and cargo capacity is what remains for fresh water, gear, food, batteries and every dealer-installed accessory. Fresh water alone is 8.3 lb per gallon, so filling this trailer's 50-gallon fresh tank spends 415 lbs of that 1,878 lbs before anything else is loaded.

Tongue weight is 752 lbs, or 13% of the dry weight. Ten to fifteen percent is the conventional band for a bumper-pull trailer, and this plan sits inside it as published. Tongue weight is not fixed: it moves with how the trailer is loaded, and weight added ahead of the axles raises it. A weight-distribution hitch is the normal fitment at this tongue load, and the tow vehicle's tongue-weight limit is a separate number from its trailer-weight limit.

Tank capacities are 50 gallons fresh, 35 grey and 35 black, 70 gallons of waste capacity against 50 gallons of supply. The ratio is what governs how long the trailer can sit off hookups: waste capacity exceeds fresh, so the fresh tank is the binding constraint and refilling extends the stay. Coachmen publishes these three figures per floorplan, and they are the factory's numbers rather than a segment average.

Against the rest of the Coachmen Apex Ultra-Lite roster this is the 2nd of 5 floorplans by dry weight, in a line that runs from 5,772 lbs to 7,304 lbs. It sits in the middle of the line by weight. Comparing floorplans inside one line is more reliable than comparing across brands, because every figure here comes from the same factory channel on the same day.

A useful way to read the pair of weights is to stop planning against the dry figure. Nobody tows a trailer at 5,874 lbs: that is the weight before water, batteries, propane, bedding, food, tools and anything the dealer bolted on. Load half the published cargo capacity, which is modest for a family trip, and this plan is already near 6,813 lbs on the road. Compare that number against the tow vehicle, not the dry weight, and leave margin on top of it - the published GVWR of 7,752 lbs is a limit rather than a target.

Every number above was read from one factory document: Coachmen's own 2026 brochure for this line, and each figure was read back against that document's text before it was published. This is a single-channel record rather than the two-page cross-check this site runs on saved factory web pages, and it is described that way rather than dressed up as more. Dry weight plus cargo capacity also equals the published GVWR exactly, which is the arithmetic check this site runs on every profiled floorplan. Where a figure is missing from this page it is because the brochure does not publish it, not because it was hard to find - and the row says so rather than being quietly dropped.

Coachmen publishes no floorplan description for this plan in the channel this page is built from - only the numeric specification block. Rather than describe a layout from the floorplan code, which would be a guess dressed as a fact, this page carries what the factory publishes and says where it stops. 241BHS is a Coachmen Apex Ultra-Lite designation and this site does not decode it into a layout claim.

How the 241BHS differs from the other five Coachmen Apex Ultra-Lite floorplans. Most distinctive first. Each rank counts only the siblings that publish that field, and a figure most of them share is left out.

  • Length, 28 ft: shortest of six; next is the 242BARV (28 ft 10 in).
  • Cargo capacity, 1,878 lb: second-largest of five, between the 242BARV (1,828 lb) and the 293RLDS (2,314 lb).
  • GVWR, 7,752 lb: third-lowest of five, between the 244RBS (7,654 lb) and the 291TBSS (7,980 lb).
  • Tongue weight, 752 lb: third-lightest of five, between the 242BARV (740 lb) and the 293RLDS (818 lb).
  • Grey tank, 35 gal: smallest of six, level with the 242BARV and 291TBSS; next are the 244RBS, 246BARV and 293RLDS (70 gal).

Next to the 242BARV, the nearest longer floorplan by length, the 241BHS has a GVWR 152 lb higher, has 50 lb more cargo capacity, has a tongue weight 12 lb heavier and is 10 in shorter; the two publish the same fresh tank, grey tank and black tank.

Payload check. Budget loaded, not dry: subtract the loaded range, every passenger, the bed and cab load and a weight-distributing hitch from the payload on your tow vehicle’s door-pillar placard (49 CFR 571.110 S4.3).

Check your vehicle. Enter the ratings from your owner’s manual and the door-pillar placard.

Compares your figures with this page’s published GVWR (7,752 lb) and the upper loaded tongue estimate (1,163 lb, a rule of thumb). Your vehicle’s placard and the trailer’s own weight label govern.

Loaded range: 10–15% of GVWR on the tongue, a rule of thumb, not a measurement of this unit. No truck ratings or hitch classes (why; NHTSA, DOT HS 809 433).

03 The Coachmen Apex Ultra-Lite floorplan family

The 241BHS is the sixth floorplan in Coachmen's 2026 Apex Ultra-Lite table and the lightest of the six by unloaded weight. The other five have had pages on this site since the line was first profiled from Coachmen's floorplan web pages; this one is added from the brochure, where dry weight plus cargo capacity equals the published GVWR exactly.

Coachmen publishes the Apex Ultra-Lite as one table of 6 floorplans in the 2026 Apex brochure, under the heading "Apex Ultra-Lite, 8 ft. wide". Coachmen publishes hitch weight, cargo capacity, unloaded weight, GVWR, exterior length, exterior height including the roof air conditioner, interior height, awning length and all three tank capacities for every floorplan in this table, and the section heading states the width. It publishes no sleeping capacity, axle count, tire size or MSRP in the brochure, so those rows read not published rather than estimated. Coachmen RV is a division of Forest River, Inc.

04 Notes on this floorplan

What Coachmen does not publish for this line

Sleeping capacity, axle count, tire size and MSRP are absent from Coachmen's specification channel for Coachmen Apex Ultra-Lite, so they are absent here. They are not estimated from the segment, not carried over from a sibling floorplan, and not taken from a dealer listing quoting itself. A tire size in particular is a safety-relevant number that differs between two codes a digit apart, and this site does not guess one.

Weigh it before you tow it

Every figure on this page is a factory publication for a standard build. The brochure itself notes that a unit may differ from what it publishes because of changes in the manufacturing process and equipment, and options, dealer-installed accessories and the previous owner's additions all move it. The only weight that governs your towing decision is the one under your own trailer on a scale, loaded the way you actually travel.

05 How it compares

06 Loading it for a trip

A full 50-gallon fresh tank is about 417 lb of water (water counts as cargo: 49 CFR 571.110 S9.3.2), 22% of the 241BHS’s 1,878 lb cargo capacity, leaving 1,461 lb. Across 5 Coachmen Apex Ultra-Lite floorplans the water share runs 18% to 38%, and 3 give up more than this one. Nearest on that share: Coachmen Apex Ultra-Lite 293RLDS at 18% and Coachmen Apex Ultra-Lite 242BARV at 23%. Your own unit’s figure is on the label inside its entry door (49 CFR 571.110 S9.3.3).
