01 What makes it unique

The Coachmen Apex Nano 208BHS leaves Coachmen's factory at 4,434 lbs dry, with a published GVWR of 6,000 lbs and 1,566 lbs of cargo capacity between the two. Cargo capacity is 26% of the loaded rating, and cargo capacity is what remains for fresh water, gear, food, batteries and every dealer-installed accessory. Fresh water alone is 8.3 lb per gallon, so filling this trailer's 52-gallon fresh tank spends 432 lbs of that 1,566 lbs before anything else is loaded.

Tongue weight is 586 lbs, or 13% of the dry weight. Ten to fifteen percent is the conventional band for a bumper-pull trailer, and this plan sits inside it as published. Tongue weight is not fixed: it moves with how the trailer is loaded, and weight added ahead of the axles raises it. A weight-distribution hitch is the normal fitment at this tongue load, and the tow vehicle's tongue-weight limit is a separate number from its trailer-weight limit.

Tank capacities are 52 gallons fresh, 35 grey and 35 black, 70 gallons of waste capacity against 52 gallons of supply. The ratio is what governs how long the trailer can sit off hookups: waste capacity exceeds fresh, so the fresh tank is the binding constraint and refilling extends the stay. Coachmen publishes these three figures per floorplan, and they are the factory's numbers rather than a segment average.

Against the rest of the Coachmen Apex Nano roster this is the 10th of 13 floorplans by dry weight, in a line that runs from 3,420 lbs to 4,632 lbs. It sits in the heavier third of the line. Comparing floorplans inside one line is more reliable than comparing across brands, because every figure here comes from the same factory channel on the same day.

A useful way to read the pair of weights is to stop planning against the dry figure. Nobody tows a trailer at 4,434 lbs: that is the weight before water, batteries, propane, bedding, food, tools and anything the dealer bolted on. Load half the published cargo capacity, which is modest for a family trip, and this plan is already near 5,217 lbs on the road. Compare that number against the tow vehicle, not the dry weight, and leave margin on top of it - the published GVWR of 6,000 lbs is a limit rather than a target.

Every number above was read from one factory document: Coachmen's own 2026 brochure for this line, and each figure was read back against that document's text before it was published. This is a single-channel record rather than the two-page cross-check this site runs on saved factory web pages, and it is described that way rather than dressed up as more. Dry weight plus cargo capacity also equals the published GVWR exactly, which is the arithmetic check this site runs on every profiled floorplan. Where a figure is missing from this page it is because the brochure does not publish it, not because it was hard to find - and the row says so rather than being quietly dropped.

Coachmen publishes no floorplan description for this plan in the channel this page is built from - only the numeric specification block. Rather than describe a layout from the floorplan code, which would be a guess dressed as a fact, this page carries what the factory publishes and says where it stops. 208BHS is a Coachmen Apex Nano designation and this site does not decode it into a layout claim.

How the 208BHS differs from the other twelve Coachmen Apex Nano floorplans. Most distinctive first. Each rank counts only the siblings that publish that field, and a figure most of them share is left out.

  • Tongue weight, 586 lb: second-heaviest of thirteen, between the 216RKS (570 lb) and the 213RDS (590 lb).
  • Cargo capacity, 1,566 lb: third-largest of thirteen, between the 224RBS (1,548 lb) and the 213RDS (1,790 lb).
  • Dry weight, 4,434 lb: fourth-heaviest of thirteen, between the 213RDS (4,210 lb) and the 224RBS (4,452 lb).
  • Length, 24 ft 11 in: fifth-longest of thirteen, between the 203RBK (23 ft 5 in) and the 213RDS (25 ft 2 in).
  • Cargo capacity as a share of GVWR, 26.1%: sixth-largest of thirteen, between the 224RBS (25.8%) and the 185BH (27.1%).
  • GVWR, 6,000 lb: highest of thirteen, level with the 203RBK, 213RDS and three others; next are the 181RB, 183BH and five others (4,700 lb).
  • Tongue weight as a share of dry weight, 13.2%: shared with the 183BH and 186BH; of thirteen, seven smaller and three larger, nearest the 181RB, 187RB and 203RBK (12.7%) and the 213RDS (14%).
  • Grey tank, 35 gal: shared with the 190RBS, 203RBK and two others; of thirteen, six smaller and two larger, nearest the 181RB, 183BH and four others (27 gal) and the 216RKS and 224RBS (70 gal).

Next to the 213RDS, the nearest lighter floorplan by dry weight, the 208BHS is 224 lb heavier by dry weight, has 224 lb less cargo capacity, has a tongue weight 4 lb lighter and is 3 in shorter; the two publish the same GVWR, exterior height, fresh tank, grey tank and black tank.

Next to the 224RBS, the nearest heavier floorplan by dry weight, the 208BHS is 18 lb lighter by dry weight, has 18 lb more cargo capacity, has a tongue weight 40 lb heavier, is 7 in shorter and has a grey tank 35 gal smaller; the two publish the same GVWR, exterior height, fresh tank and black tank.

Payload check. Budget loaded, not dry: subtract the loaded range, every passenger, the bed and cab load and a weight-distributing hitch from the payload on your tow vehicle’s door-pillar placard (49 CFR 571.110 S4.3).

Check your vehicle. Enter the ratings from your owner’s manual and the door-pillar placard.

Compares your figures with this page’s published GVWR (6,000 lb) and the upper loaded tongue estimate (900 lb, a rule of thumb). Your vehicle’s placard and the trailer’s own weight label govern.

Loaded range: 10–15% of GVWR on the tongue, a rule of thumb, not a measurement of this unit. No truck ratings or hitch classes (why; NHTSA, DOT HS 809 433).

03 The Coachmen Apex Nano floorplan family

Apex Nano is the narrow, light end of the Apex family: every floorplan is 7.5 ft wide, against 8 ft for the Ultra-Lite and X-Series. The 13 plans in Coachmen's 2026 table run from 3,420 lb to 4,632 lb unloaded, on published hitch weights of 423 to 590 lb, and they carry one of only 2 GVWR figures between them: 4,700 lb and 6,000 lb. So the line splits cleanly into a lighter group rated 4,700 lb and a longer group rated 6,000 lb, and inside each group the plan with the higher unloaded weight has less cargo capacity left, because the rating does not move. Dry weight plus cargo capacity equals the published GVWR on 13 of 13.

Apex Nano is published by Coachmen in one specification table of 13 floorplans in its 2026 Apex brochure, under the heading "Apex Nano, 7.5 ft. wide". All 13 are profiled here. Two pairs publish identical figures on every row of that table (181RB and 187RB; 183BH and 186BH): the brochure draws them as different floorplans, so they are different trailers, and the numbers alone do not tell them apart. Coachmen publishes hitch weight, cargo capacity, unloaded weight, GVWR, exterior length, exterior height including the roof air conditioner, interior height, awning length and all three tank capacities for every floorplan in this table, and the section heading states the width. It publishes no sleeping capacity, axle count, tire size or MSRP in the brochure, so those rows read not published rather than estimated. Coachmen RV is a division of Forest River, Inc.

04 Notes on this floorplan

What Coachmen does not publish for this line

Sleeping capacity, axle count, tire size and MSRP are absent from Coachmen's specification channel for Coachmen Apex Nano, so they are absent here. They are not estimated from the segment, not carried over from a sibling floorplan, and not taken from a dealer listing quoting itself. A tire size in particular is a safety-relevant number that differs between two codes a digit apart, and this site does not guess one.

Weigh it before you tow it

Every figure on this page is a factory publication for a standard build. The brochure itself notes that a unit may differ from what it publishes because of changes in the manufacturing process and equipment, and options, dealer-installed accessories and the previous owner's additions all move it. The only weight that governs your towing decision is the one under your own trailer on a scale, loaded the way you actually travel.

05 How it compares

Lighter
Coachmen Apex Nano 213RDS

4,210 lbs dry against this plan's 4,434 lbs, a difference of 224 lbs. Same line, same factory channel, same model year - so the gap is a real one rather than a difference in how two brands measure.

Heavier
Coachmen Apex Nano 224RBS

4,452 lbs dry, 18 lbs more than this plan, and 1,548 lbs of cargo capacity against this one's 1,566 lbs. Stepping up a floorplan usually buys length before it buys payload.

Most cargo in the line
Coachmen Apex Nano 203RBK

1,842 lbs of cargo capacity, the highest of the 13 Coachmen Apex Nano floorplans profiled here. If payload rather than length is the binding constraint, that is the plan to compare against.

06 Loading it for a trip

A full 52-gallon fresh tank is about 434 lb of water (water counts as cargo: 49 CFR 571.110 S9.3.2), 28% of the 208BHS’s 1,566 lb cargo capacity, leaving 1,132 lb. Across 13 Coachmen Apex Nano floorplans the water share runs 24% to 57%, and 10 give up more than this one. Nearest on that share: Coachmen Apex Nano 213RDS at 24% and Coachmen Apex Nano 224RBS at 28%. Your own unit’s figure is on the label inside its entry door (49 CFR 571.110 S9.3.3).

07 Where this floorplan sits
