01 What makes it unique
The Campsite Reserve 23SF has 2,882 lbs of cargo capacity between 4,818 lbs dry and its 7,700 lbs GVWR, 37% of that rating; filling its 52-gallon fresh tank at 8.3 lb a gallon uses 432 lbs of it (how to read trailer weights).
Tongue weight is 700 lbs, 15% of the dry weight as published; it rises as the trailer is loaded and counts against the tow vehicle’s tongue-weight and payload limits (tongue weight by size).
Off hookups: 66 gallons of grey and black capacity against 52 gallons of fresh water, so fresh water runs out first (tank sizes by length).
Against the rest of the Campsite Reserve roster this is the 6th of 22 floorplans by dry weight, in a line that runs from 3,764 lbs to 12,380 lbs. It sits in the lighter third of the line.
Plan the tow on loaded weight, not the 4,818 lbs dry figure: half the published cargo capacity brings this plan to about 6,259 lbs, and the published GVWR of 7,700 lbs is the limit (how to read trailer weights).
Forest River’s line listing and this floorplan’s own factory page agree on all 4 shared figures. Dry weight plus cargo capacity equals the published GVWR exactly. A missing row means Forest River does not publish that figure (how figures are verified).
Forest River publishes no floorplan description for this plan in the channel this page is built from - only the numeric specification block. Rather than describe a layout from the floorplan code, which would be a guess dressed as a fact, this page carries what the factory publishes and says where it stops. 23SF is a Campsite Reserve designation and this site does not decode it into a layout claim.
How the 23SF differs from the other 21 Campsite Reserve floorplans. Most distinctive first. How these ranks are worked out.
- Cargo capacity as a share of GVWR, 37.4%: third-largest of 21, between the 19KR (35.4%) and the 20AJ (37.8%).

- Dry weight, 4,818 lb: sixth-lightest of 22, between the 20AJ (4,693 lb) and the 19KR (4,993 lb).
- Length, 27 ft 6 in: seventh-shortest of 22, between the 19KR (26 ft) and the 23TS (28 ft).
- Exterior height, 10 ft 6 in: lowest of 22, level with the 20LJ, 25MW and 26CJ; next is the 29TJ (10 ft 7 in).
- Tongue weight as a share of dry weight, 14.5%: shared with the 19KR; of 22, seventeen smaller and three larger, nearest the 26RM (14.2%) and the 32GT (14.8%).
- GVWR, 7,700 lb: ninth-lowest of 22, between the 26CJ (7,674 lb) and the 19KR (7,725 lb).
- Tongue weight, 700 lb: ninth-lightest of 22, between the 26CJ (674 lb) and the 19KR (725 lb).
- Black tank, 28 gal: smallest of 22, level with the 16BC, 17LS and seven others; next are the 20LJ, 26CJ and five others (38 gal).
Next to the 20AJ, the nearest lighter floorplan by dry weight, the 23SF is 125 lb heavier by dry weight, has a GVWR 150 lb higher, has 25 lb more cargo capacity, has a tongue weight 150 lb heavier, is 2 ft 11 in longer and stands 2 in lower; the two publish the same fresh tank, grey tank and black tank.
Next to the 19KR, the nearest heavier floorplan by dry weight, the 23SF is 175 lb lighter by dry weight, has a GVWR 25 lb lower, has 150 lb more cargo capacity, has a tongue weight 25 lb lighter, is 1 ft 6 in longer and stands 5 in lower; the two publish the same fresh tank, grey tank and black tank.

Towing it
Check your vehicle. Enter the ratings from your owner’s manual and the door-pillar placard.
Compares your figures with this page’s published GVWR (7,700 lb) and the upper loaded tongue estimate (1,155 lb, a rule of thumb). Your vehicle’s placard and the trailer’s own weight label govern.
Loaded range: 10–15% of GVWR on the tongue, a rule of thumb, not a measurement of this unit. No truck ratings or hitch classes (why; NHTSA, DOT HS 809 433).
03 The Campsite Reserve floorplan family
Campsite Reserve is the widest single Forest River travel-trailer roster this site carries: dry weight runs 3,764 lb at the 16BC to 12,380 lb at the top of the loft group, and cargo capacity runs 1,020 to 4,336 lb. Tongue weight runs 431 to 1,425 lb and GVWR 5,531 to 14,000 lb. The loft plans are where the weight is -- the 39-series sits at the top of every column -- and the three toy haulers sit in the middle rather than the top, which is unusual for a line that carries both. Twenty-one of the twenty-two profileable plans tie out exactly against dry weight plus cargo capacity. The exception is 23TS, whose own arithmetic gives 7,795 lb against a published GVWR of 7,805; it is published on its own page with that disagreement stated rather than profiled with the rest.

Campsite Reserve is published in three factory groupings across twenty-three floorplans for 2026: fourteen Travel Trailers, five Travel Trailers with a loft, and three Toy Haulers. Every plan on the roster is a bumper-pull -- Forest River publishes a hitch weight, not a pin weight, on all of them, including the toy haulers -- so nothing on this line needs a fifth-wheel truck. One plan, 23CY, is marked dealer-stock-only on the factory roster and publishes no detail page, so it appears in the count of twenty-three and nowhere else on this site -- it is not catalogued and its specifications are not reproduced here. Forest River publishes dry weight, cargo capacity, tongue weight, GVWR, all three exterior dimensions and all three tank capacities for the remaining twenty-two. Sleeping capacity, axle count, tire size and MSRP are not published in this channel. Twenty of the twenty-two carry no factory floorplan description.
04 Notes on this floorplan
What Forest River does not publish for this line
Sleeping capacity, axle count, tire size and MSRP are not in Forest River’s specification channel for Campsite Reserve, so this page does not publish them and does not estimate them (how figures are verified).
Awning size is not published for this floorplan
Forest River publishes an awning size for some Campsite Reserve floorplans and not for this one. The row reads as unpublished rather than being filled from a neighbouring plan in the same roster.
Weigh it before you tow it
Forest River calls its unloaded weight an estimated average for a standard build, and options and dealer add-ons change it, so weigh your own trailer loaded the way you travel (how figures are verified).
05 How it compares
4,693 lbs dry against this plan's 4,818 lbs, a difference of 125 lbs.
4,993 lbs dry, 175 lbs more than this plan, and 2,732 lbs of cargo capacity against this one's 2,882 lbs.
4,336 lbs of cargo capacity, the highest of the 22 Campsite Reserve floorplans profiled here. If payload rather than length is the binding constraint, that is the plan to compare against.
06 Loading it for a trip
A full 52-gallon fresh tank is about 432 lb of water (water counts as cargo: 49 CFR 571.110 S9.3.2), 15% of the 23SF’s 2,882 lb cargo capacity, leaving 2,450 lb. Across 22 Campsite Reserve floorplans the water share runs 8% to 34%, and 15 give up more than this one. Nearest on that share: Campsite Reserve 20LJ at 15% and Campsite Reserve 20AJ at 15%. Your own unit’s figure is on the label inside its entry door (49 CFR 571.110 S9.3.3).
07 Where this floorplan sits
Closest sibling: the Campsite Reserve 19KR, nearest on the published figures. It differs on 5 of the 8 fields both publish (this plan first): length 27 ft 6 in vs 26 ft 0 in; dry weight 4,818 lb vs 4,993 lb; GVWR 7,700 lb vs 7,725 lb; cargo capacity 2,882 lb vs 2,732 lb; hitch weight 700 lb vs 725 lb. They match on fresh tank, grey tank and black tank.

11 NHTSA safety record
NHTSA holds 3 recall campaigns and 1 owner complaint (model years 2005 on) against the Campsite Reserve line (a recall and a complaint are not the same thing).
Too few reports to show a pattern. 1 complaint has been filed on this line — not enough to say what fails most often. It covers structure.
Recall coverage here is not complete, and complaints are owners’ unverified reports (how this record is built). Check a specific VIN at NHTSA before you buy. Full tables are on the Campsite Reserve line page.
