01 What makes it unique
The Campsite Reserve 26RM has 1,432 lbs of cargo capacity between 6,488 lbs dry and its 7,920 lbs GVWR, 18% of that rating; filling its 52-gallon fresh tank at 8.3 lb a gallon uses 432 lbs of it (how to read trailer weights).
Tongue weight is 920 lbs, 14% of the dry weight as published; it rises as the trailer is loaded and counts against the tow vehicle’s tongue-weight and payload limits (tongue weight by size).
Off hookups: 76 gallons of grey and black capacity against 52 gallons of fresh water, so fresh water runs out first (tank sizes by length).
Against the rest of the Campsite Reserve roster this is the 13th of 22 floorplans by dry weight, in a line that runs from 3,764 lbs to 12,380 lbs. It sits in the middle of the line by weight.
Plan the tow on loaded weight, not the 6,488 lbs dry figure: half the published cargo capacity brings this plan to about 7,204 lbs, and the published GVWR of 7,920 lbs is the limit (how to read trailer weights).
Forest River’s line listing and this floorplan’s own factory page agree on all 4 shared figures. Dry weight plus cargo capacity equals the published GVWR exactly. A missing row means Forest River does not publish that figure (how figures are verified).
Forest River publishes no floorplan description for this plan in the channel this page is built from - only the numeric specification block. Rather than describe a layout from the floorplan code, which would be a guess dressed as a fact, this page carries what the factory publishes and says where it stops. 26RM is a Campsite Reserve designation and this site does not decode it into a layout claim.
How the 26RM differs from the other 21 Campsite Reserve floorplans. Most distinctive first. How these ranks are worked out.

- Exterior height, 10 ft 8 in: shared with the 20AJ, 23JW and three others; of 22, five lower and eleven taller, nearest the 29TJ (10 ft 7 in) and the 18LM (10 ft 9 in).
- Black tank, 38 gal: shared with the 20LJ, 26CJ and four others; of 22, ten smaller and five larger, nearest the 16BC, 17LS and eight others (28 gal) and the 20JW, 39GB and 39LA (40 gal).
Next to the 26CJ, the nearest lighter floorplan by dry weight, the 26RM is 67 lb heavier by dry weight, has a GVWR 246 lb higher, has 179 lb more cargo capacity, has a tongue weight 246 lb heavier, is 4 in longer, stands 2 in taller and has a grey tank 10 gal larger; the two publish the same fresh tank and black tank.
Next to the 27MR, the nearest heavier floorplan by dry weight, the 26RM is 755 lb lighter by dry weight, has a GVWR 2,065 lb lower, has 1,310 lb less cargo capacity, has a tongue weight 30 lb lighter and is 1 ft 7 in shorter; the two publish the same exterior height, fresh tank, grey tank and black tank.

Towing it
Check your vehicle. Enter the ratings from your owner’s manual and the door-pillar placard.
Compares your figures with this page’s published GVWR (7,920 lb) and the upper loaded tongue estimate (1,188 lb, a rule of thumb). Your vehicle’s placard and the trailer’s own weight label govern.
Loaded range: 10–15% of GVWR on the tongue, a rule of thumb, not a measurement of this unit. No truck ratings or hitch classes (why; NHTSA, DOT HS 809 433). The range starts at the published figure, because loaded is never lighter than that.
03 The Campsite Reserve floorplan family
Campsite Reserve is the widest single Forest River travel-trailer roster this site carries: dry weight runs 3,764 lb at the 16BC to 12,380 lb at the top of the loft group, and cargo capacity runs 1,020 to 4,336 lb. Tongue weight runs 431 to 1,425 lb and GVWR 5,531 to 14,000 lb. The loft plans are where the weight is -- the 39-series sits at the top of every column -- and the three toy haulers sit in the middle rather than the top, which is unusual for a line that carries both. Twenty-one of the twenty-two profileable plans tie out exactly against dry weight plus cargo capacity. The exception is 23TS, whose own arithmetic gives 7,795 lb against a published GVWR of 7,805; it is published on its own page with that disagreement stated rather than profiled with the rest.

Campsite Reserve is published in three factory groupings across twenty-three floorplans for 2026: fourteen Travel Trailers, five Travel Trailers with a loft, and three Toy Haulers. Every plan on the roster is a bumper-pull -- Forest River publishes a hitch weight, not a pin weight, on all of them, including the toy haulers -- so nothing on this line needs a fifth-wheel truck. One plan, 23CY, is marked dealer-stock-only on the factory roster and publishes no detail page, so it appears in the count of twenty-three and nowhere else on this site -- it is not catalogued and its specifications are not reproduced here. Forest River publishes dry weight, cargo capacity, tongue weight, GVWR, all three exterior dimensions and all three tank capacities for the remaining twenty-two. Sleeping capacity, axle count, tire size and MSRP are not published in this channel. Twenty of the twenty-two carry no factory floorplan description.
04 Notes on this floorplan
What Forest River does not publish for this line
Sleeping capacity, axle count, tire size and MSRP are not in Forest River’s specification channel for Campsite Reserve, so this page does not publish them and does not estimate them (how figures are verified).
Awning size is not published for this floorplan
Forest River publishes an awning size for some Campsite Reserve floorplans and not for this one. The row reads as unpublished rather than being filled from a neighbouring plan in the same roster.
Weigh it before you tow it
Forest River calls its unloaded weight an estimated average for a standard build, and options and dealer add-ons change it, so weigh your own trailer loaded the way you travel (how figures are verified).
05 How it compares
6,421 lbs dry against this plan's 6,488 lbs, a difference of 67 lbs.
7,243 lbs dry, 755 lbs more than this plan, and 2,742 lbs of cargo capacity against this one's 1,432 lbs.
4,336 lbs of cargo capacity, the highest of the 22 Campsite Reserve floorplans profiled here. If payload rather than length is the binding constraint, that is the plan to compare against.
06 Loading it for a trip
A full 52-gallon fresh tank is about 432 lb of water (water counts as cargo: 49 CFR 571.110 S9.3.2), 30% of the 26RM’s 1,432 lb cargo capacity, leaving 1,000 lb. Across 22 Campsite Reserve floorplans the water share runs 8% to 34%, and 2 give up more than this one. Nearest on that share: Campsite Reserve 25MW at 25% and Campsite Reserve 39JD at 33%. Your own unit’s figure is on the label inside its entry door (49 CFR 571.110 S9.3.3).
07 Where this floorplan sits
Closest sibling: the Campsite Reserve 26CJ, nearest on the published figures. It differs on 6 of the 8 fields both publish (this plan first): length 33 ft 1 in vs 32 ft 9 in; dry weight 6,488 lb vs 6,421 lb; GVWR 7,920 lb vs 7,674 lb; cargo capacity 1,432 lb vs 1,253 lb; hitch weight 920 lb vs 674 lb; grey tank 38 gal vs 28 gal. They match on fresh tank and black tank.

11 NHTSA safety record
NHTSA holds 3 recall campaigns and 1 owner complaint (model years 2005 on) against the Campsite Reserve line (a recall and a complaint are not the same thing).
Too few reports to show a pattern. 1 complaint has been filed on this line — not enough to say what fails most often. It covers structure.
Recall coverage here is not complete, and complaints are owners’ unverified reports (how this record is built). Check a specific VIN at NHTSA before you buy. Full tables are on the Campsite Reserve line page.
