01 What makes the 2025 38FLGS different

The Pinnacle 38FLGS is one of Jayco's Pinnacle coaches, the flagship of the Jayco towable lineup, above the North Point and Eagle fifth wheels. This page covers one model year of it — the 2025 38FLGS, exactly as Jayco published it — because the numbers that decide whether your truck can pull this trailer are not the same from one year to the next. Jayco publishes it at 8' 6" wide closed and 13' 6" with the slide-outs run out for the 2025 model year, which is the measurement that matters for a site pitch as well as for the road.

For the 2025 model year Jayco published a 18,500-pound GVWR on a 15,455-pound dry weight, 3,045 pounds of published cargo capacity, a 2,900-pound dry pin weight. Check the loaded pin against the truck's payload and rear-axle ratings rather than against the tow rating alone. The 2025 coach left the factory on 215/75R17.5'H' tyres; the load range in that code is part of the axle rating and a replacement set has to match it.

Against the 2024 build of the same floorplan, 5 published fields moved. The full comparison is in section 02, and it is drawn from two separate verified factory records rather than from one record and an assumption about the other.

A 2025 coach is close to current as of 2026, but section 05 still applies: check it against its build date rather than its model year. Jayco commonly builds a model year well before the calendar year turns, and the tyre date codes have to be read against the build month, not the badge.

How the 38FLGS differs from the other twelve Pinnacle floorplans. Most distinctive first. Sibling pages may cover other model years than this one (2022–2025). How these ranks are worked out.

  • Dry pin weight as a share of dry weight, 18.8%: second-smallest of thirteen, between the 36FBTS (17.8%) and the 38FBRK (19%).
  • Length, 44 ft 5 in: second-longest of eight, between the 38FBRK (43 ft 10 in) and the 39FLOK (44 ft 6 in).
  • Dry weight, 15,455 lb: fourth-heaviest of thirteen, between the 38FBRK (15,448 lb) and the 39FBRL (15,570 lb).
  • GVWR, 18,500 lb: fifth-highest of thirteen, between the 37MDQS (18,400 lb) and the 38SSWS and 39FBRL (18,700 lb).
  • Dry pin weight, 2,900 lb: fifth-lightest of thirteen, between the 38KPTS (2,870 lb) and the 36SSWS (2,915 lb).
  • Grey tank, 82.5 gal: smallest of twelve, level with the 39FLOK; next are the 32RLTS, 36FBTS and seven others (87 gal).
  • Cargo capacity, 3,045 lb: sixth-largest of twelve, between the 32RLTS (2,955 lb) and the 36KPTS (3,080 lb).
  • Sleeping capacity, 6: shared with the 39FLOK; of twelve, eight smaller and two larger, nearest the 32RLTS, 36FBTS and six others (4) and the 37MDQS and 39DSDB (8).
  • Cargo capacity as a share of GVWR, 16.5%: shared with the 36SSWS; of twelve, four smaller and six larger, nearest the 38FLWS (16%) and the 39FBRL (16.7%).
  • Black tank, 74 gal: shared with the 39FLOK; of thirteen, seven smaller and four larger, nearest the 32RLTS, 36KPTS and four others (50 gal) and the 36FBTS, 38FBRK and two others (87 gal).
  • Exterior height, 12 ft 7 in: shared with the 32RLTS, 36FBTS and three others; of twelve, two lower and four taller, nearest the 37MDQS (12 ft 6 in) and the 39FBRL (12 ft 8 in).

Next to the 38FBRK (2024–2027 page), the nearest lighter floorplan by dry weight, the 38FLGS is 7 lb heavier by dry weight, has a GVWR 300 lb higher, has 293 lb more cargo capacity, has a dry pin weight 40 lb lighter, is 7 in longer, stands 10 in lower, has a grey tank 4.5 gal smaller, has a black tank 13 gal smaller and sleeps two more; the two publish the same fresh tank.

Next to the 39FBRL (2027 page), the nearest heavier floorplan by dry weight, the 38FLGS is 115 lb lighter by dry weight, has a GVWR 200 lb lower, has 85 lb less cargo capacity, has a dry pin weight 230 lb lighter, stands 1 in lower, has a grey tank 4.5 gal smaller, has a black tank 13 gal smaller and sleeps two more; the two publish the same interior height and fresh tank.

Specifications by model year

This floorplan has a published factory record for 4 model years here, 2022 to 2025. The specification does not hold still: GVWR runs from 17,750 lb (2022) to 18,500 lb (2025); dry weight runs from 14,835 lb (2023) to 15,455 lb (2025); dry pin weight runs from 2,805 lb (2023) to 2,965 lb (2022). The published tire size changes over the run (ST255/85R16'E', then 215/75R17.5'H'). The published sleeping capacity changes across the years: 4-6 in 2022, up to 6 in 2023–2025. Each year’s complete record is printed separately below, carrying only that year’s own published figures and source. Nothing is copied across from a neighbouring year.

Every row is that model year’s own record from Jayco’s model page or factory brochure for that year, as the source line for each year names. The figures in the tow-critical placard at the top of this page are the 2025 record from the source this catalogue originally profiled. On the weights, overall length and tire size, that record and Jayco’s own 2025 model page agree on every field both of them publish. Exterior height is not compared: Jayco publishes a bare height, a with-A/C height and a with-2nd-A/C height, and the single height row carried here cannot be matched to one of them, so no claim is made either way.

What changed for the 2022 model year

2022 is the earliest model year of the 38FLGS on this site, so there is no earlier record to set it against. Section 01 compares it with 2023.

Source for 2022. Specifications reflect the 2022 model year as published by Jayco on its own 2022 factory brochure for this product line, and are dry factory figures for a base unit. Options, dealer-installed equipment and cargo all add weight. A fifth wheel puts its pin load through the tow vehicle's rear axle, so the loaded pin must be checked against the truck's payload, rear-axle and hitch ratings, not against its tow rating. Dry weight plus cargo capacity ties out exactly to the published GVWR for this model year. CamperTrailers.com publishes verified manufacturer data and is not affiliated with Jayco, Inc.

Payload check. Budget loaded, not dry: subtract the loaded range, every passenger and the bed and cab load from the payload on your tow vehicle’s door-pillar placard (49 CFR 571.110 S4.3).

Check your vehicle. Enter the ratings from your owner’s manual and the door-pillar placard.

Compares your figures with this page’s published GVWR (18,500 lb) and the upper loaded pin estimate (4,625 lb, a rule of thumb). Your vehicle’s placard and the trailer’s own weight label govern.

Loaded range: 15–25% of GVWR on the pin, a rule of thumb, not a measurement of this unit. No truck ratings or hitch classes (why; NHTSA, DOT HS 809 433). The range starts at the published dry figure, because loaded is never lighter than dry.

GVWR changed for 2025

GVWR was 18,000 for 2024 and is 18,500 for 2025 (+500 lb). Both figures are the manufacturer's own for their year.

Dry pin weight changed for 2025

Dry pin weight was 2,865 for 2024 and is 2,900 for 2025 (+35 lb). Both figures are the manufacturer's own for their year.

Where these numbers come from

Every figure on this page is read from Jayco's own 2025 model page for the 38FLGS — one source, one model year, no blending. The all-years parent page sets this year beside every other model year we hold, and where the record this catalogue originally profiled disagrees with Jayco's own model page, both figures are published there and neither is adjusted.

Fields Jayco does not publish for 2025

For this model year the factory record omits: Water Heater, Furnace, Auto-ignition (BTU output). Those rows read “Not published” on this page. They are deliberately not filled in from an adjacent model year — a neighbouring year's figure is an inference about this one, not a measurement of it.

04 Buying a 2025 38FLGS at 1 model years old

Tyres are the first thing to age out

RV tyres are usually replaced on age rather than tread, at roughly five to seven years from the DOT date code on the sidewall. On a 1-year-old coach the originals (215/75R17.5'H') may still be fitted — read the four-digit date code, not the tread.

Roof and seam sealant is on a service interval

Laminated-wall fifth wheels rely on sealant at every roof penetration and along the front cap. Inspection is typically annual and re-sealing every few years; ask for the service records rather than assuming.

Weigh it before you tow it

Every weight on this page is a DRY factory figure for the 2025 model year. A used coach carries its previous owner's additions, and a fifth wheel puts roughly 15-25% of the load through the truck's rear axle. Weigh the loaded rig at a public scale and check it against the truck's payload, rear-axle and hitch ratings.

06 Loading it for a trip

A full 75-gallon fresh tank is about 622 lb of water (water counts as cargo: 49 CFR 571.120 S10.4.2), 20% of the 38FLGS’s 3,045 lb cargo capacity, leaving 2,422 lb (404 lb per rated berth). Across 13 Pinnacle floorplans the water share runs 19% to 26%, and 6 give up more than this one. Nearest on that share: Pinnacle 36KPTS at 20% and Pinnacle 32RLTS at 21%. Your own unit’s figure is on the label inside its entry door (49 CFR 571.120 S10.4.3).

Recall coverage here is not complete, and complaints are owners’ unverified reports (how this record is built). Check a specific VIN at NHTSA before you buy. Full tables are on the Pinnacle line page.
