01 What makes it unique

The 2201MDS spends its length on daytime space: the front Murphy bed folds away over the sofa, the large single slide opens the main room, and an 18-foot awning — the longest in the compact set — covers the camp side. The factory rates it for up to four, and dealer walkthroughs describe the big front-slide arrangement as the plan’s signature.

The build is the full tandem package: 13,500-BTU roof air (15,000 optional, with second-A/C-and-50-amp prep on the dual-axle option sheet), 30,000-BTU furnace, two LP bottles, 52/39/39 tanks, tankless water heater, 8-cubic-foot 12-volt refrigerator, TrussXL roof truss under the lifetime PVC membrane, MORryde steps, tandem 3,500-pound axles on 14-inch D-rated tires. The printed 6,900-pound GVWR equals 5,340 dry plus 1,560 cargo exactly.

At a 565-pound tongue this remains a friendly tow for the size. It is the most expensive plan in the compact half of the roster — the buyer paying for the Murphy formula executed with tandem margins. Couples wanting a fixed bed at similar length should read the 2103MKS.

03 Prowler floorplan family

Heartland's Prowler line — the value family of the fall-2025 Heartland relaunch under Jayco: twenty-one 2026 floorplans from a 16-foot micro bunk to a 37-foot-10 triple-slide rear-living flagship, every one on an integrated A-frame chassis with a TrussXL 4,500-pound roof truss under a limited-lifetime PVC membrane, a tankless water heater, an 8-cubic-foot 12-volt refrigerator and MORryde StepAbove steps standard, with the light single-axle plans wearing the Lynx Edition badge. Eight plans are profiled in depth; the full roster including catalogued plans lives on the Prowler hub with verified weights.

The Prowler roster splits into two build classes: single-axle compacts (the 1300–1800-series plus the 1802MBS — an 8,000-BTU wall air conditioner, one 20-lb LP bottle) and tandem-axle full-size plans (13,500-BTU roof air, two bottles, with 15,000-BTU and second-A/C-plus-50-amp options). The light plans wear Heartland's Lynx Edition badge — a trim identity, not a separate line. This is a published-GVWR-clean line on the factory pages for every profiled plan except the 2601RLS, whose published set does not sum and is flagged on its page. RVUSA's MSRPs run roughly $375–$525 below the current factory Base MSRP (stale records, logged; the 3301RLT gap is $9,525) and West-edition twins are excluded. Always confirm against the unit's weight sticker before towing.

04 What owners & reviewers report

The Murphy trade, done right

The bed folds over the sofa, so the floor plan lives double — bedroom by night, front lounge by day — without the weight of a dedicated bedroom.

The compact-set price ceiling

At $33,150 Base MSRP this is the priciest sub-28-foot Prowler — the step where the value line starts trading against laminated rivals. Street pricing runs lower; confirm with a dealer.

18 feet of awning

The longest awning in the compact set — the outdoor room is part of the plan.
