01 What makes it unique
The 27SGS is Arctic Wolf’s entry point and the lightest, shortest coach in the line — and the only Arctic Wolf under a 10,000-pound GVWR, which makes it the broadest in tow compatibility. It is a rear-living couple’s plan built on a popular best-selling layout: a rear living room with two recliners, a middle table and a tri-fold sleeper sofa, a free-standing table-and-ottoman option, a private front bedroom, an electric fireplace and panoramic rear windows. Two dual-opposing slide-outs open the kitchen and living area and close them off in transit, and it sleeps four. At about 7,893 pounds dry it is the lightest Arctic Wolf, on the line’s lowest derived GVWR of 9,995 pounds. It rides the full Arctic Wolf build: a 2-inch full-cage aluminum frame, laminated exterior walls under the Elemental Protection Package, an enclosed heated underbelly and automatic leveling.
Forest River publishes a 7,893-pound UVW and a 2,102-pound CCC, which derive a 9,995-pound GVWR (the manufacturer’s own definition is that CCC equals GVWR minus UVW), against a 1,525-pound dry pin. A 15,000-BTU central air conditioner (prepped for a second), a 35,000-BTU furnace, a 5,200-BTU electric fireplace, a tankless water heater, a 10-cubic-foot 12-volt refrigerator, solid-surface counters and an 81-gallon Niagara fresh tank are standard, with a mandatory 100-watt Juice Pack solar package (expandable to 500 watts), a Series 27 battery and a 30-amp charge controller, under a 12-foot power awning.
US street pricing commonly runs in the low-to-mid $40,000s. It is the entry, couple’s Arctic Wolf — the easiest in the line to tow and the only one under a 10,000-pound GVWR. For a couple who wants a rear living room, dual opposing slides and a private front bedroom in the shortest, lightest full-size fifth wheel of the line — towable behind a properly rated half-ton-plus or three-quarter-ton truck — the 27SGS is the line’s value entry plan.

Arctic Wolf is Forest River's value-mid full-size fifth wheel — a step below the brand's own premium-mainstream sibling Sandpiper, and the value entry to Forest River full-size fifth-wheel ownership. Six of the most distinct 2026 floorplans are profiled here in full; the remaining catalogued retail plans (285OPT, 387ML, 3650SUITE, 3750SUITE, 38DST, 3950SUITE) and one Dealer Stock Only plan (the rear-deck 3800DECK) are listed on the hub but not profiled. Every plan is built on a 2-inch full-cage aluminum frame with laminated exterior walls under the Elemental Protection Package, an enclosed and heated underbelly with 12-volt tank heat pads, automatic leveling, a 50-amp service, a tankless water heater, a 35,000-BTU furnace, a 5,200-BTU electric fireplace, a 15,000-BTU central air conditioner, solid-surface counters, an 81-gallon Niagara fresh tank line-wide and a mandatory 100-watt Juice Pack solar package (expandable to 500 watts) with a Series 27 battery and a 30-amp charge controller as standard. Hitch weight, UVW and CCC are published per plan on the Forest River factory page; GVWR is derived as UVW plus CCC per the manufacturer's own definition. The numeric per-axle GAWR is not separately published for Arctic Wolf (the line splits between 7,000-lb and 8,000-lb tandem axle groups by plan). UVW is a factory estimated average; real loaded pin weights run higher — always weigh the loaded coach and confirm against your truck's payload and rear-axle ratings.
04 What owners & reviewers report
Lightest, shortest, and the only one under 10,000 GVWR
At about 7,893 lb dry and 29 feet 11 inches on a derived 9,995-lb GVWR it is the most towable Arctic Wolf and the only plan in the line under a 10,000-lb GVWR — the broadest in tow compatibility.
Rear living + dual opposing slides
A rear living room with two recliners, a tri-fold sofa and panoramic windows, opened by two dual-opposing slides that close off the kitchen and living area in transit — a couple’s entertainer.
Value-mid equipment standard
A 15,000-BTU A/C prepped for a second, a tankless water heater, a 35,000-BTU furnace, an electric fireplace, solid-surface counters and a mandatory 100-watt solar package come standard — a well-equipped value coach at the line’s lowest price.
Exterior height is line-typical, not separately confirmed
Forest River’s current page does not separately print this plan’s exterior height; a line-typical figure is shown here (an earlier listing showed roughly 12 feet 11 inches). Confirm the height on the specific unit if clearance matters.
05 How it compares
The next step up — a newer dual-opposing panoramic rear-living plan with a second air conditioner standard.
Forest River’s premium-mainstream full-size fifth wheel one tier above — the same full-size layouts with a richer construction and equipment package at a higher price.
Keystone’s half-ton-friendly fifth wheel — a mainstream cross-shop a tier across.
