01 What makes it unique
Keystone publishes three weights for the Cougar Half-Ton 21LBK: a shipping weight of 6,090 lb, a carrying capacity of 1,910 lb and a hitch weight of 760 lb. Those are Keystone’s own terms, and this page keeps them. Keystone does not call the first figure dry or unloaded weight, does not say the hitch figure is measured dry, and publishes no GVWR for any Cougar Half-Ton floorplan, so none of the three is renamed here and no loaded rating is worked out from them. The trailer’s own federal weight label, inside the door, is the document that carries its UVW, cargo capacity and GVWR.
Tank capacities are 54 gal fresh, 80 gal gray and 40 gal waste, as Keystone lists them. Fresh water weighs about 8.3 lb per US gallon, so a full fresh tank is roughly 448 lb on the road before anything else is loaded. The tire size Keystone lists is ST225/75R15E.
Against the 11 Cougar Half-Ton floorplans profiled here, this one is the 1st by Keystone’s shipping weight, in a range from 6,090 lb (21LBK) to 9,590 lb (30REP). Every figure in that comparison comes from the same Keystone page type for the same model year, so the comparison inside the series is like for like.
Every number on this page was read on 19 Oct 2026 from Keystone’s own floorplan page for the Cougar Half-Ton 21LBK. That page carries no model year, so the year comes from the roster page that links it, which lists the Cougar Half-Ton floorplans under the heading “2027 Floorplans”. Keystone notes that its website reflects the most recent production run and that features and specifications change during the year.
How the 21LBK differs from the other six Cougar Half-Ton travel trailers. Most distinctive first. Each rank counts only the siblings that publish that field, and a figure most of them share is left out.
- Shipping weight (Keystone’s term), 6,090 lb: lightest of seven; next is the 22MLS (6,335 lb).
- Length, 25 ft 11 in: shortest of seven; next is the 22MLS (26 ft 5 in).
- Hitch weight as Keystone lists it, 760 lb: second-lightest of seven, between the 22MLS (700 lb) and the 25MLE (845 lb).
- Carrying capacity (Keystone’s term), 1,910 lb: third-smallest of seven, between the 22MLS (1,565 lb) and the 26LBW (2,400 lb).
- Sleeping capacity, 4: smallest of seven, level with the 22MLS; next are the 25FKD, 25MLE and three others (6).
- Hitch weight as a share of shipping weight, 12.5%: shared with the 29RLP; of seven, three smaller and two larger, nearest the 25MLE (12.1%) and the 26LBW (12.7%).
Next to the 22MLS, the nearest heavier floorplan by shipping weight, the 21LBK is 245 lb lighter by shipping weight, has 345 lb more carrying capacity, has a hitch weight 60 lb heavier, is 6 in shorter and has a grey tank 40 gal larger; the two publish the same exterior height, fresh tank and sleeping capacity.

04 Notes on this floorplan
What Keystone does not publish for the Cougar Half-Ton
No GVWR, no unloaded (dry) weight under that name, no dry hitch weight and no exterior width appear on Keystone’s floorplan pages for this series, so those rows read as not published. Nothing is filled from a sibling floorplan, a different model year or a dealer listing.
Read the label on the trailer
Federal rules put a load-carrying label inside every RV trailer: its unloaded weight with full propane, its cargo carrying capacity and its GVWR (49 CFR 571.110 and 571.120). On a Cougar Half-Ton those figures come from the trailer, not from this page, and they govern the towing decision.
05 How it compares
6,335 lb shipping weight and 1,565 lb carrying capacity, against this plan’s 6,090 lb and 1,910 lb.
07 Where this floorplan sits

11 NHTSA safety record
NHTSA holds 47 recall campaigns and 148 owner complaints against the Cougar line. They are counted separately: a recall is a confirmed defect with a remedy, a complaint one owner’s unverified account.
What to look at on a used one. Across the 148 complaints filed on this line the most-reported components are tires (34%), structure (16%) and equipment (15%).
Recall coverage here is not complete, and complaints are owners’ unverified reports (how this record is built). Check a specific VIN at NHTSA before you buy. Full tables are on the Cougar line page.
