01 What makes it unique
Keystone publishes three weights for the Cougar Half-Ton 22MLS: a shipping weight of 6,335 lb, a carrying capacity of 1,565 lb and a hitch weight of 700 lb. Those are Keystone’s own terms, and this page keeps them. Keystone does not call the first figure dry or unloaded weight, does not say the hitch figure is measured dry, and publishes no GVWR for any Cougar Half-Ton floorplan, so none of the three is renamed here and no loaded rating is worked out from them. The trailer’s own federal weight label, inside the door, is the document that carries its UVW, cargo capacity and GVWR.
Tank capacities are 54 gal fresh, 40 gal gray and 40 gal waste, as Keystone lists them. Fresh water weighs about 8.3 lb per US gallon, so a full fresh tank is roughly 448 lb on the road before anything else is loaded. The tire size Keystone lists is ST225/75R15E.
Against the 11 Cougar Half-Ton floorplans profiled here, this one is the 2nd by Keystone’s shipping weight, in a range from 6,090 lb (21LBK) to 9,590 lb (30REP). Every figure in that comparison comes from the same Keystone page type for the same model year, so the comparison inside the series is like for like.
Every number on this page was read on 19 Oct 2026 from Keystone’s own floorplan page for the Cougar Half-Ton 22MLS. That page carries no model year, so the year comes from the roster page that links it, which lists the Cougar Half-Ton floorplans under the heading “2027 Floorplans”. Keystone notes that its website reflects the most recent production run and that features and specifications change during the year.
How the 22MLS differs from the other six Cougar Half-Ton travel trailers. Most distinctive first. Each rank counts only the siblings that publish that field, and a figure most of them share is left out.
- Hitch weight as Keystone lists it, 700 lb: lightest of seven; next is the 21LBK (760 lb).
- Grey tank, 40 gal: smallest of seven; next are the 21LBK, 25FKD and four others (80 gal).
- Shipping weight (Keystone’s term), 6,335 lb: second-lightest of seven, between the 21LBK (6,090 lb) and the 25MLE (6,970 lb).
- Carrying capacity (Keystone’s term), 1,565 lb: second-smallest of seven, between the 25FKD (1,395 lb) and the 21LBK (1,910 lb).
- Length, 26 ft 5 in: second-shortest of seven, between the 21LBK (25 ft 11 in) and the 25FKD and 25MLE (29 ft 11 in).
- Hitch weight as a share of shipping weight, 11%: smallest of seven, level with the 29RKE; next is the 25MLE (12.1%).
- Sleeping capacity, 4: smallest of seven, level with the 21LBK; next are the 25FKD, 25MLE and three others (6).

04 Notes on this floorplan
What Keystone does not publish for the Cougar Half-Ton
No GVWR, no unloaded (dry) weight under that name, no dry hitch weight and no exterior width appear on Keystone’s floorplan pages for this series, so those rows read as not published. Nothing is filled from a sibling floorplan, a different model year or a dealer listing.
Read the label on the trailer
Federal rules put a load-carrying label inside every RV trailer: its unloaded weight with full propane, its cargo carrying capacity and its GVWR (49 CFR 571.110 and 571.120). On a Cougar Half-Ton those figures come from the trailer, not from this page, and they govern the towing decision.
05 How it compares
6,090 lb shipping weight against this plan’s 6,335 lb (Keystone’s figures, same series, same model year).
6,970 lb shipping weight and 2,675 lb carrying capacity, against this plan’s 6,335 lb and 1,565 lb.
07 Where this floorplan sits

Reports that name the 22MLS
1 of those record name this floorplan specifically rather than the line as a whole.
| Type | Date | Reference | What it says |
|---|---|---|---|
| Recall | 18 Dec 2020 | 20V801000 | Since it is not connected properly to the breaker, if the Solar Prep wiring experiences an electrical short, it will increase the risk of a fire. |
Recall coverage here is not complete, and complaints are owners’ unverified reports (how this record is built). Check a specific VIN at NHTSA before you buy. Full tables are on the Cougar line page.
