01 What makes it unique
The Jayco Seismic 399 is a fifth-wheel toy hauler in the MY2027 Seismic roster, with a 13' 6" garage behind the living space. Jayco publishes a dry weight of 15,585 pounds against a 21,000-pound GVWR, and the two tie out exactly with the published 5,415-pound cargo carrying capacity — 15,585 + 5,415 = 21,000. That arithmetic is checked on every plan in this catalogue, and a plan whose own figures disagree is catalogued without a page rather than quietly reconciled.
The dry pin weight is 3,265 pounds, or 21% of the dry weight. Fifth-wheel pin load lands in the truck bed and counts against the truck’s payload, not just its towing rating — it is the number that runs a truck out of payload before it runs out of tow capacity. Loaded pin runs higher than dry pin once the garage is filled. Payload is 5,415 pounds, 26% of GVWR — on a toy hauler that ceiling covers water, propane, cargo, dealer-fitted equipment AND whatever goes in the garage. Fresh water alone at 106 gallons is about 880 pounds when full.
Tanks are 106 gallons fresh, 87 grey and 87 black. Interior height is 8' 3" and the exterior measures 8' 6" wide on ST215/75R17.5'H' tyres. Jayco publishes two exterior heights for this floorplan: 12' 6" at the roofline and 13' 3" with the air conditioner. Both are printed above, neither is derived from the other, and it is the taller figure that has to clear your garage door. This page covers the MY2027 399 only. Jayco’s figures move between model years — measured on this very roster, the 395 loses more than a foot of published length between MY2026 and MY2027 — so nothing here is carried over from a neighbouring year, and no year is shown that Jayco has not published for this code.
How the 399 differs from the other sixteen Seismic fifth wheels. Most distinctive first. Sibling pages may cover other model years than this one (2024–2027). How these ranks are worked out.
- Cargo capacity, 5,415 lb: largest of seventeen; next is the 415 (5,410 lb).
- Cargo capacity as a share of GVWR, 25.8%: largest of seventeen; next are the 3815 and 4116 (25.5%).
- Dry pin weight as a share of dry weight, 20.9%: smallest of seventeen; next is the 359 (21.3%).
- Dry pin weight, 3,265 lb: fourth-lightest of seventeen, between the 3512 (3,220 lb) and the 4250 (3,340 lb).
- Sleeping capacity, 8: largest of nine, level with the Seismic Luxury Series 4113; next are the 3512, 3815 and two others (7).
- GVWR, 21,000 lb: shared with the 395; of seventeen, fourteen lower and one higher, nearest the Seismic Luxury Series 4113 (20,900 lb) and the 415 (22,000 lb).
- Exterior height, 12 ft 6 in: shared with the Seismic Luxury Series 4113; of eight, one lower and five taller, nearest the 395 (12 ft 5 in) and the 359 and 413 (12 ft 7 in).
- Dry weight, 15,585 lb: eighth-lightest of seventeen, between the 4250 (15,570 lb) and the 4125 (15,630 lb).
Next to the 4250 (2018 page), the nearest lighter floorplan by dry weight, the 399 is 15 lb heavier by dry weight, has a GVWR 1,000 lb higher, has 985 lb more cargo capacity, has a dry pin weight 75 lb lighter, has 4 in less interior height, has a fresh tank 40 gal smaller and has a grey tank 11 gal smaller; the two publish the same black tank.
Next to the 4125 (2019 page), the nearest heavier floorplan by dry weight, the 399 is 45 lb lighter by dry weight, has a GVWR 305 lb higher, has 350 lb more cargo capacity, has a dry pin weight 420 lb lighter and has a fresh tank 40 gal smaller.
Specifications by model year
This floorplan has a published factory record for 4 model years here, 2024 to 2027. The specification does not hold still: GVWR runs from 19,995 lb (2024) to 21,000 lb (2027); dry weight runs from 14,560 lb (2024) to 15,585 lb (2027); dry pin weight runs from 3,265 lb (2027) to 3,395 lb (2024). The published tire size changes over the run (215/75R17.5H, then ST215/75R17.5'H'). The published sleeping capacity changes across the years: up to 9 in 2024, up to 8 in 2025–2027. Each year’s complete record is printed separately below, carrying only that year’s own published figures and source. Nothing is copied across from a neighbouring year.
| Model year | Dry (UVW) | GVWR | Cargo (CCC) | Dry pin | Length | Sleeps | Tire size |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2024 | 14,560 | 19,995 | 5,435 | 3,395 | 45' 11" | up to 9 | 215/75R17.5H |
| 2025 | 14,950 | 20,400 | 5,450 | 3,370 | 45' 11" | up to 8 | 215/75R17.5H |
| 2026 | 14,950 | 20,400 | 5,450 | 3,310 | 46' 9" | up to 8 | 215/75R17.5H |
| 2027 | 15,585 | 21,000 | 5,415 | 3,265 | Not published | up to 8 | ST215/75R17.5'H' |
Every row is that model year’s own record from Jayco’s model page for that year. The figures in the tow-critical placard at the top of this page are the 2027 record from the source this catalogue originally profiled. On the weights, overall length and tire size, that record and Jayco’s own 2027 model page agree on every field both of them publish. Exterior height is not compared: Jayco publishes a bare height, a with-A/C height and a with-2nd-A/C height, and the single height row carried here cannot be matched to one of them, so no claim is made either way.

What changed for the 2024 model year
2024 is the earliest model year of the 399 on this site, so there is no earlier record to set it against. Section 01 compares it with 2025.
Source for 2024. Specifications reflect the 2024 model year as published by Jayco on its own 2024 model page for this floorplan, and are dry factory figures for a base unit. Options, dealer-installed equipment and cargo all add weight. A fifth wheel puts its pin load through the tow vehicle's rear axle, so the loaded pin must be checked against the truck's payload, rear-axle and hitch ratings, not against its tow rating. Dry weight plus cargo capacity ties out exactly to the published GVWR for this model year. CamperTrailers.com publishes verified manufacturer data and is not affiliated with Jayco, Inc.

Towing it
Check your vehicle. Enter the ratings from your owner’s manual and the door-pillar placard.
Compares your figures with this page’s published GVWR (21,000 lb) and the upper loaded pin estimate (5,250 lb, a rule of thumb). Your vehicle’s placard and the trailer’s own weight label govern.
Loaded range: 15–25% of GVWR on the pin, a rule of thumb, not a measurement of this unit. No truck ratings or hitch classes (why; NHTSA, DOT HS 809 433). The range starts at the published dry figure, because loaded is never lighter than dry.
03 The Seismic floorplan family
Seismic is Jayco's fifth-wheel toy-hauler flagship — a garage trailer built to carry motorcycles, side-by-sides or a track bike. Jayco's own floorplan titles call it a toy hauler, and the running gear is described around a Rota-Flex king pin, so the hitch figures on this page are PIN weights, carried in the truck bed and counted against the truck’s payload rating. The 399 on this page is highlighted; every other profiled plan links to its own page.

04 Notes on this floorplan
Figures are Jayco’s own, and they tie out
Dry 15,585 lb + cargo 5,415 lb = GVWR 21,000 lb exactly. Nothing on this page is computed from the other two, estimated from the segment, or taken from a dealer listing.
Dry means empty, and a toy hauler is never towed empty
15,585 lb is the unit as built, before water, propane, batteries, cargo, dealer-installed options — and before anything is loaded into the 13' 6" garage. Weigh the loaded trailer on a public scale before matching it to a tow vehicle.
Pin weight comes out of truck payload
3,265 lb of dry pin sits in the bed and counts against the truck’s payload rating, alongside passengers, fuel and the hitch itself. Loaded pin runs higher than dry pin, and on a garage trailer it moves with what is in the garage.
Jayco publishes no overall exterior length for this model year
The MY2027 factory page for this floorplan carries no Exterior Length (overall) row, so that row reads “Not published” above rather than being filled in from another year or from a sibling floorplan. Jayco does publish a separate Length figure of 45' 2", which is a different measurement and is not the same quantity — where this roster publishes both, they disagree in both directions (the MY2025 3815 runs 44′ 7″ overall against a 44′ 10″ length; the 4113 runs 46′ 1″ against 44′ 5″). Measure the unit itself before booking a site.
What this page does not publish
Jayco’s factory spec table for this floorplan carries no slide count, no bed size, no refrigerator or air-conditioner spec, no axle count and no MSRP. Those rows are absent here rather than filled from a sibling floorplan or a second source. Jayco’s published awning length is held in this catalogue’s saved copy of the factory page but not printed, because the catalogue tracks no awning field to print it into.
05 How it compares
Dry 13,490 lb against this plan’s 15,585 lb — 2,095 lb less to tow.
Dry 15,985 lb against this plan’s 15,585 lb — 400 lb more to tow.
Every Seismic floorplan catalogued here, with the plans this site refuses to publish and the reason for each.
06 Loading it for a trip
A full 106-gallon fresh tank is about 880 lb of water (water counts as cargo: 49 CFR 571.120 S10.4.2), 16% of the 399’s 5,415 lb cargo capacity, leaving 4,535 lb (567 lb per rated berth). Across 17 Seismic fifth-wheel floorplans the water share runs 16% to 27%, and this plan’s is the lowest. Nearest on that share: Seismic 415 at 16%. Your own unit’s figure is on the label inside its entry door (49 CFR 571.120 S10.4.3).
07 Where this floorplan sits
Closest sibling: the Seismic 4113, nearest on the published figures. It differs on 4 of the 8 fields both publish (this plan first): dry weight 15,585 lb vs 16,000 lb; GVWR 21,000 lb vs 20,900 lb; cargo capacity 5,415 lb vs 4,900 lb; hitch weight 3,265 lb vs 3,670 lb. They match on sleeps, fresh tank, grey tank and black tank.

11 NHTSA safety record
NHTSA holds 17 recall campaigns and 13 owner complaints (model years 2005 on) against the Seismic line (a recall and a complaint are not the same thing).
What to look at on a used one. Across the 13 complaints filed on this line the most-reported components are suspension (38%), unknown or other (23%) and service brakes (15%).
Recall coverage here is not complete, and complaints are owners’ unverified reports (how this record is built). Check a specific VIN at NHTSA before you buy. Full tables are on the Seismic line page.
