2026 Cherokee Alpha Wolf26RL

The 26RL takes a layout that normally requires a fifth wheel and puts it on a bumper-pull chassis. Forest River describes it as one entry and two slide outs with a fiberglass exterior, and lists the interior as a kitchen island, a free-standing dinette option, a front bedroom and rear living. Its own copy is explicit about the intent: a popular fifth-wheel design brought into a smaller form factor, with a queen bed and ample wardrobe space up front, a spacious living area with oversized windows, and an island kitchen carrying a 12-volt refrigerator, oven and microwave.

Rear living means the back wall of the trailer is glass and seating rather than a bed or a bath, and that is the whole appeal — you sit facing the view instead of facing a wall. The two slides are what make it work at 34 feet 6 inches; without them the aisle would not exist. The awning arrangement is unusual too: two awnings at 11 feet and 9 feet rather than one long one, which follows the slide layout.

The weights are the most comfortable in the middle of the line. Forest River publishes 7,258 pounds dry against a 9,750-pound GVWR, giving 2,492 pounds of cargo — nearly double what the similarly-sized 25RB gets — with a 1,080-pound dry tongue. Tanks step up to 81 fresh, 70 grey and 35 black, and the height goes to 11 feet 2 inches. The build is the line-standard laminated fiberglass over block foam on a drop frame, with the Super Truss roof, lifetime PVC membrane, armored heated underbelly, tankless hot water, four power stabilizer jacks and the Juice Pack solar package.

Alpha Wolf is the laminated-fiberglass tier of Forest River's Cherokee travel-trailer family — a construction step above the metal-sided Grey Wolf and Wolf Den on the same drop-frame half-ton bumper-pull architecture, and a cross-shop against Forest River's own Salem / Wildwood, Jayco's Jay Flight, Keystone's Passport and Coachmen's Catalina. This floorplan carries its water comfortably. A full 81-gallon fresh tank is roughly 27% of the 2,492-pound cargo capacity, leaving the 26RL with a usable gear budget even when you tow full.

The published dry tongue weight of 1,080 pounds is 15% of the 7,258-pound dry weight, which sits inside the 10–15% band usually quoted for stable towing. It is still a dry figure: loading the front pass-through and the fresh tank both push it up.

Nothing above changes the ceiling. Loaded to its 9,750-pound GVWR the 26RL is towing 2,492 pounds more than its 7,258-pound dry figure, and that is the number your vehicle has to be rated for — not the brochure weight.

Tank balance is generous here: 81 gallons of fresh against 70 grey and 35 black, so waste capacity keeps pace with supply and the fresh tank is the constraint that ends a dry stay.
