01 What makes the 2025 240RBS different
The Jay Flight 240RBS is one of Jayco's Jay Flight travel trailers, the mass-market nameplate and the volume seller in Jayco's towable range. This page covers one model year of it — the 2025 240RBS, exactly as Jayco published it — because the numbers that decide whether your truck can pull this trailer are not the same from one year to the next. Jayco publishes it at 8' 0" wide closed and 11' 0" with the slide-outs run out for the 2025 model year, which is the measurement that matters for a site pitch as well as for the road.
For the 2025 model year Jayco published a 7,150-pound GVWR on a 5,760-pound dry weight, 1,390 pounds of published cargo capacity, a 685-pound dry tongue weight. That dry tongue is 12% of the dry weight, inside the 10–15% band conventionally quoted for a bumper-pull trailer. Tongue weight is not fixed — it moves with how the trailer is loaded, and weight added ahead of the axles raises it. A tongue load in that range wants a weight-distribution hitch, and the tow vehicle's tongue-weight limit is a separate number from its trailer-weight limit — check the loaded tongue against the hitch receiver's rating and the vehicle's payload, not against the tow rating alone. The 2025 trailer left the factory on ST205/75R14'D' tyres; the load range in that code is part of the axle rating and a replacement set has to match it.
Against the 2024 build of the same floorplan, 6 published fields moved. The full comparison is in section 02, and it is drawn from two separate verified factory records rather than from one record and an assumption about the other.
A 2025 trailer is close to current as of 2026, but section 05 still applies: check it against its build date rather than its model year. Jayco commonly builds a model year well before the calendar year turns, and the tyre date codes have to be read against the build month, not the badge.
How the 240RBS differs from the other 122 Jay Flight floorplans. Most distinctive first. Sibling pages may cover other model years than this one (2023–2025). How these ranks are worked out.

Specifications by model year
This floorplan has a published factory record for 3 model years here, 2023 to 2025. The specification does not hold still: GVWR runs from 6,750 lb (2023) to 7,150 lb (2025); dry weight runs from 5,465 lb (2023) to 5,760 lb (2025); dry tongue weight runs from 620 lb (2023) to 715 lb (2024). The published sleeping capacity changes across the years: up to 4 in 2023–2024, up to 2 in 2025. Each year’s complete record is printed separately below, carrying only that year’s own published figures and source. Nothing is copied across from a neighbouring year.
| Model year | Dry (UVW) | GVWR | Cargo (CCC) | Dry tongue | Length | Sleeps | Tire size |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2023 | 5,465 | 6,750 | 1,285 | 620 | 27' 4" | up to 4 | ST205/75R14'D' |
| 2024 | 5,690 | 7,000 | 1,310 | 715 | 27' 4" | up to 4 | ST205/75R14'D' |
| 2025 | 5,760 | 7,150 | 1,390 | 685 | 27' 4" | up to 2 | ST205/75R14'D' |
Every row is that model year’s own record from Jayco’s model page for that year. The figures in the tow-critical placard at the top of this page are the 2025 record from the source this catalogue originally profiled. On the weights, overall length and tire size, that record and Jayco’s own 2025 model page agree on every field both of them publish. Exterior height is not compared: Jayco publishes a bare height, a with-A/C height and a with-2nd-A/C height, and the single height row carried here cannot be matched to one of them, so no claim is made either way.

What changed for the 2023 model year
2023 is the earliest model year of the 240RBS on this site, so there is no earlier record to set it against. Section 01 compares it with 2024.
Source for 2023. Specifications reflect the 2023 model year as published by Jayco on its own 2023 model page for this floorplan, and are dry factory figures for a base unit. Options, dealer-installed equipment and cargo all add weight. A travel trailer puts its tongue load on the tow vehicle's hitch and through its rear axle, so the loaded tongue must be checked against the receiver's rating and the vehicle's payload, not against its tow rating. Dry weight plus cargo capacity ties out exactly to the published GVWR for this model year. CamperTrailers.com publishes verified manufacturer data and is not affiliated with Jayco, Inc.

Towing it
Check your vehicle. Enter the ratings from your owner’s manual and the door-pillar placard.
Compares your figures with this page’s published GVWR (7,150 lb) and the upper loaded tongue estimate (1,072 lb, a rule of thumb). Your vehicle’s placard and the trailer’s own weight label govern.
Loaded range: 10–15% of GVWR on the tongue, a rule of thumb, not a measurement of this unit. No truck ratings or hitch classes (why; NHTSA, DOT HS 809 433).
03 What changed for the 2025 model year
Jayco changed 6 of the published fields between the 2024 and 2025 240RBS. Every figure in both columns is that model year's own factory record — nothing here is carried across from the other year.

Every row is that model year's own factory record, and each year links to its own page. The fuller table at the top of this page adds cargo capacity and names any model year that is deliberately not published here.
GVWR changed for 2025
GVWR was 7,000 for 2024 and is 7,150 for 2025 (+150 lb). Both figures are the manufacturer's own for their year.
Dry tongue weight changed for 2025
Dry tongue weight was 715 for 2024 and is 685 for 2025 (-30 lb). Both figures are the manufacturer's own for their year.
Sleeps changed for 2025
Sleeps was up to 4 for 2024 and is up to 2 for 2025. Both figures are the manufacturer's own for their year.
Where these numbers come from
Every figure on this page is read from Jayco's own 2025 model page for the 240RBS — one source, one model year, no blending. The all-years parent page sets this year beside every other model year we hold, and where the record this catalogue originally profiled disagrees with Jayco's own model page, both figures are published there and neither is adjusted.
Fields Jayco does not publish for 2025
For this model year the factory record omits: Furnace, Auto-ignition (BTU output). Those rows read “Not published” on this page. They are deliberately not filled in from an adjacent model year — a neighbouring year's figure is an inference about this one, not a measurement of it.
04 Buying a 2025 240RBS at 1 model years old
Tyres are the first thing to age out
RV tyres are usually replaced on age rather than tread, at roughly five to seven years from the DOT date code on the sidewall. On a 1-year-old trailer the originals (ST205/75R14'D') may still be fitted — read the four-digit date code, not the tread.
Roof and seam sealant is on a service interval
Travel trailers rely on sealant at every roof penetration, along the front cap and around every window and marker light. Inspection is typically annual and re-sealing every few years; ask for the service records rather than assuming.
Weigh it before you tow it
Every weight on this page is a DRY factory figure for the 2025 model year. A used trailer carries its previous owner's additions, and a travel trailer puts its tongue load on the tow vehicle's hitch and through its rear axle. Weigh the loaded rig at a public scale and check it against the tow vehicle's payload, rear-axle and hitch ratings.
05 How it compares — and to its other years
The same floorplan one model year earlier, with its own published weights.
Every Jay Flight floorplan this catalogue holds a verified factory record for, with its own published weights.
06 Loading it for a trip
A full 52-gallon fresh tank is about 432 lb of water (water counts as cargo: 49 CFR 571.110 S9.3.2), 31% of the 240RBS’s 1,390 lb cargo capacity, leaving 958 lb (479 lb per rated berth). Across 123 Jay Flight floorplans the water share runs 13% to 47%, and 33 give up more than this one. Nearest on that share: Jay Flight 32TSBH at 31% and Jay Flight 235MBH at 31%. Your own unit’s figure is on the label inside its entry door (49 CFR 571.110 S9.3.3).

NHTSA holds 25 recall campaigns and 75 owner complaints (model years 2005 on) against the Jay Flight line (a recall and a complaint are not the same thing).
What to look at on a used one. Across the 75 complaints filed on this line the most-reported components are equipment (43%), unknown or other (13%) and electrical system (11%).
Recall coverage here is not complete, and complaints are owners’ unverified reports (how this record is built). Check a specific VIN at NHTSA before you buy. Full tables are on the Jay Flight line page.
