01 What makes it unique
The Jay Flight 245BHS is the 36th-lightest of the 56 MY2027 Jay Flight floorplans this site carries from Jayco’s own 2027 model pages, with 35 plans below it and 20 above. Its 5,555 lbs dry and 7,200 lbs GVWR leave 1,645 lbs of cargo capacity — 23% of the loaded rating, which is the figure that actually decides what you can put in it.
Fresh water is the load most owners forget to count. The 52 gallon fresh tank weighs about 432 lbs full, which is 26% of this plan's 1,645 lbs of cargo capacity before a single bag goes in. Grey and black hold 39 and 39 gallons. Travelling with full fresh and empty waste tanks is the arrangement that leaves the most room for everything else.
It runs two axles. Jayco's own factory page for this floorplan settles that; the aggregator spec block reports one axle for it, which the factory contradicts. Where the two disagree the factory governs, and the discrepancy is set out in section 02.
How the 245BHS differs from the other 122 Jay Flight floorplans. Most distinctive first. Sibling pages may cover other model years than this one (2026–2027). How these ranks are worked out.

Specifications by model year
This floorplan has a published factory record for 2 model years here, 2026 to 2027. The specification does not hold still: GVWR runs from 7,000 lb (2026) to 7,200 lb (2027); dry weight runs from 5,460 lb (2026) to 5,555 lb (2027); dry tongue weight runs from 635 lb (2026) to 640 lb (2027). The published sleeping capacity changes across the years: up to 6 in 2026, up to 8 in 2027. Each year’s complete record is printed separately below, carrying only that year’s own published figures and source. Nothing is copied across from a neighbouring year.
| Model year | Dry (UVW) | GVWR | Cargo (CCC) | Dry tongue | Length | Sleeps | Tire size |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2026 | 5,460 | 7,000 | 1,540 | 635 | 28' 7" | up to 6 | ST205/75R14'D' |
| 2027 | 5,555 | 7,200 | 1,645 | 640 | 28' 7" | up to 8 | ST205/75R14'D' |
Every row is that model year’s own record from Jayco’s model page for that year. Jayco titles its 2026 model page for this floorplan Jay Flight SLX 245BHS. The figures in the tow-critical placard at the top of this page are the 2027 record from the source this catalogue originally profiled. On the weights, overall length and tire size, that record and Jayco’s own 2027 model page agree on every field both of them publish. Exterior height is not compared: Jayco publishes a bare height, a with-A/C height and a with-2nd-A/C height, and the single height row carried here cannot be matched to one of them, so no claim is made either way.

What changed for the 2026 model year
2026 is the earliest model year of the 245BHS on this site, so there is no earlier record to set it against. Section 01 compares it with 2027.
Source for 2026. Specifications reflect the 2026 model year as published by Jayco on its own 2026 model page for this floorplan, which Jayco titles Jay Flight SLX 245BHS, and are dry factory figures for a base unit. Options, dealer-installed equipment and cargo all add weight. A travel trailer puts its tongue load on the tow vehicle's hitch and through its rear axle, so the loaded tongue must be checked against the receiver's rating and the vehicle's payload, not against its tow rating. Dry weight plus cargo capacity ties out exactly to the published GVWR for this model year. CamperTrailers.com publishes verified manufacturer data and is not affiliated with Jayco, Inc.

Towing it
Check your vehicle. Enter the ratings from your owner’s manual and the door-pillar placard.
Compares your figures with this page’s published GVWR (7,200 lb) and the upper loaded tongue estimate (1,080 lb, a rule of thumb). Your vehicle’s placard and the trailer’s own weight label govern.
Loaded range: 10–15% of GVWR on the tongue, a rule of thumb, not a measurement of this unit. No truck ratings or hitch classes (why; NHTSA, DOT HS 809 433).
03 Jay Flight floorplan family
All 56 MY2027 Jay Flight floorplans this site carries, ordered lightest to heaviest by published dry weight. Jayco markets 2027 as the line's 25th-anniversary year. Floorplans whose code ends in W are built at Jayco's western plant and carry their own published figures — they are not duplicates of the eastern build.

Layout descriptions are decoded from Jayco's own floorplan-code suffixes (BH bunkhouse, MB Murphy bed, RLS rear living, QB queen bed, TBS two-bedroom slide, and so on). They describe the code, not a measured interior: this site publishes no interior dimensions for this line and therefore no floorplan diagrams.
04 Reading these numbers
Cargo capacity in context
GVWR minus dry weight is 1,645 lbs on this plan, 23% of the loaded rating. Across the 56 MY2027 Jay Flight floorplans this site carries, the same figure runs from 18% to 38%. Dry weight is a base-unit number: options, batteries and a full propane bottle all come out of the cargo figure, not the dry one.
Axle count — aggregator data corrected
Jayco's own factory page for the 245BHS lists it as a 2-axle unit, and its mandatory equipment package is the double-axle package. Factory data outranks aggregator data here, so this page publishes 2. The discrepancy is recorded rather than quietly dropped: anyone cross-checking against that aggregator will see one axle and should not trust it on this line.
Eastern and western builds differ
Jayco builds this floorplan at two plants and publishes separate figures for each. The 245BHS is 95 lbs heavier dry than the 245BHSW (5,555 vs 5,460), and the fresh tank differs too (52 gal vs 76 gal). Neither number is a typo for the other — check which build a given unit is.
What this page does not publish
Every figure on this page is from Jayco’s own 2027 model page for this floorplan, tongue weight, tire size and axle count included. Jayco publishes no room-by-room interior dimensions, which is why this page carries no floorplan diagram.
05 How it compares
5,460 lbs dry against this plan's 5,555, 28' 7" of length, sleeps 6, from $37,043. The nearest lighter floorplan in the MY2027 line.
5,765 lbs dry, 7,600 lbs GVWR, sleeps 10, from $38,406. The nearest heavier floorplan — 210 lbs more trailer than this one.
The same floorplan from Jayco's other plant: 5,460 lbs dry, 7,000 lbs GVWR, 76 gal fresh, from $37,043.
06 Loading it for a trip
A full 52-gallon fresh tank is about 432 lb of water (water counts as cargo: 49 CFR 571.110 S9.3.2), 26% of the Jay Flight 245BHS’s 1,645 lb cargo capacity, leaving 1,213 lb (152 lb per rated berth). Across 123 Jay Flight floorplans the water share runs 13% to 47%, and 62 give up more than this one. Nearest on that share: Jay Flight 130RD at 26% and Jay Flight 401FLTS at 26%. Your own unit’s figure is on the label inside its entry door (49 CFR 571.110 S9.3.3).
07 Where this floorplan sits
Closest sibling: the Jay Flight 235MBH, nearest on the published figures. It differs on 5 of the 9 fields both publish (this plan first): length 28 ft 7 in vs 27 ft 10 in; dry weight 5,555 lb vs 5,620 lb; GVWR 7,200 lb vs 7,000 lb; cargo capacity 1,645 lb vs 1,380 lb; hitch weight 640 lb vs 645 lb. They match on sleeps, fresh tank, grey tank and black tank.
