01 What makes the 2024 265RLSW different

The Jay Flight 265RLSW is one of Jayco's Jay Flight travel trailers, the mass-market nameplate and the volume seller in Jayco's towable range. This page covers one model year of it — the 2024 265RLSW, exactly as Jayco published it — because the numbers that decide whether your truck can pull this trailer are not the same from one year to the next. Jayco publishes it at 8' 0" wide closed and 11' 0" with the slide-outs run out for the 2024 model year, which is the measurement that matters for a site pitch as well as for the road.

For the 2024 model year Jayco published a 7,850-pound GVWR on a 6,205-pound dry weight, 1,645 pounds of published cargo capacity, a 790-pound dry tongue weight. That dry tongue is 13% of the dry weight, inside the 10–15% band conventionally quoted for a bumper-pull trailer. Tongue weight is not fixed — it moves with how the trailer is loaded, and weight added ahead of the axles raises it. A tongue load in that range wants a weight-distribution hitch, and the tow vehicle's tongue-weight limit is a separate number from its trailer-weight limit — check the loaded tongue against the hitch receiver's rating and the vehicle's payload, not against the tow rating alone. The 2024 trailer left the factory on ST225/75R15'E' tyres; the load range in that code is part of the axle rating and a replacement set has to match it.

This is the earliest 265RLSW model year with a verified factory record in this catalogue. Later years are linked at the foot of the page, each with its own published figures.

A 2024 trailer is close to current as of 2026, but section 05 still applies: check it against its build date rather than its model year. Jayco commonly builds a model year well before the calendar year turns, and the tyre date codes have to be read against the build month, not the badge.

How the 265RLSW differs from the other 122 Jay Flight floorplans. Most distinctive first. Sibling pages may cover other model years than this one (2024–2025). How these ranks are worked out.

Specifications by model year

One other model year of the 265RLSW has its own published record here: 2024. It is printed in full below, with its own source, and nothing in it is copied from the record at the top of this page.

Every row is that model year’s own record from Jayco’s model page for that year. Jayco also lists this floorplan for 2023, but that model page publishes “no specification rows published” and no specification table, so there is no page for that year and no row above — it is not filled in from the year either side of it. The figures in the tow-critical placard at the top of this page are the 2024 record from the source this catalogue originally profiled. On the weights, overall length and tire size, that record and Jayco’s own 2024 model page agree on every field both of them publish. Exterior height is not compared: Jayco publishes a bare height, a with-A/C height and a with-2nd-A/C height, and the single height row carried here cannot be matched to one of them, so no claim is made either way.

Federal tire recalls naming this size. NHTSA’s recall file names ST225/75R15 in 2 tire recalls: 14T015000 (Dynamic Tire Corp., 2014; make TOWMAX STR; model ST); 17T014000 (Triangle Tire USA, 2017; make TRIANGLE; model TR643). A tire recall covers only the brands, lines and DOT date codes it lists, and this page does not know which brand of tire this trailer was built with, so read the brand and DOT code on your own sidewalls before relying on this list. Only 242 of NHTSA’s 788 tire recalls name a size in their summary, so a size with no match is not a clean record (NHTSA recall file, read 12 Oct 2026).

What changed for the 2024 model year

2024 is the earliest model year of the 265RLSW on this site, so there is no earlier record to set it against.

Source for 2024. Specifications reflect the 2024 model year as published by Jayco on its own 2024 model page for this floorplan, and are dry factory figures for a base unit. Options, dealer-installed equipment and cargo all add weight. A travel trailer puts its tongue load on the tow vehicle's hitch and through its rear axle, so the loaded tongue must be checked against the receiver's rating and the vehicle's payload, not against its tow rating. Dry weight plus cargo capacity ties out exactly to the published GVWR for this model year. CamperTrailers.com publishes verified manufacturer data and is not affiliated with Jayco, Inc.

Payload check. Budget loaded, not dry: subtract the loaded range, every passenger, the bed and cab load and a weight-distributing hitch from the payload on your tow vehicle’s door-pillar placard (49 CFR 571.110 S4.3).

Check your vehicle. Enter the ratings from your owner’s manual and the door-pillar placard.

Compares your figures with this page’s published GVWR (7,850 lb) and the upper loaded tongue estimate (1,178 lb, a rule of thumb). Your vehicle’s placard and the trailer’s own weight label govern.

Loaded range: 10–15% of GVWR on the tongue, a rule of thumb, not a measurement of this unit. No truck ratings or hitch classes (why; NHTSA, DOT HS 809 433). The range starts at the published dry figure, because loaded is never lighter than dry.

03 What changed for the 2024 model year

The earliest model year of the 265RLSW with a verified factory record here is 2024. Jayco’s 2025 record changes only its published sleeping capacity (up to 8 in 2024, up to 6 in 2025), and no tow-critical figure moves, so 2025 has no page of its own: both years’ records are in the tables on this page, and 2024 links to its own page.

20256,2057,8507906ST225/75R15'E'

Every row is that model year's own factory record. 2024 links to its own page; 2025, which differs from it on no tow-critical field, has no page of its own and is this row. The fuller table at the top of this page adds cargo capacity.

Sleeps changed for 2025

Sleeps was up to 8 for 2024 and is up to 6 for 2025. Both figures are the manufacturer's own for their year.

Where these numbers come from

Every figure on this page is read from Jayco's own 2024 model page for the 265RLSW — one source, one model year, no blending. The all-years parent page sets this year beside every other model year we hold, and where the record this catalogue originally profiled disagrees with Jayco's own model page, both figures are published there and neither is adjusted.

Fields Jayco does not publish for 2024

For this model year the factory record omits: Propane Unit (lbs) (Optional), Furnace, Auto-ignition (BTU output). Those rows read “Not published” on this page. They are deliberately not filled in from an adjacent model year — a neighbouring year's figure is an inference about this one, not a measurement of it.

04 Buying a 2024 265RLSW at 2 model years old

Tyres are the first thing to age out

RV tyres are usually replaced on age rather than tread, at roughly five to seven years from the DOT date code on the sidewall. On a 2-year-old trailer the originals (ST225/75R15'E') may still be fitted — read the four-digit date code, not the tread.

Roof and seam sealant is on a service interval

Travel trailers rely on sealant at every roof penetration, along the front cap and around every window and marker light. Inspection is typically annual and re-sealing every few years; ask for the service records rather than assuming.

Weigh it before you tow it

Every weight on this page is a DRY factory figure for the 2024 model year. A used trailer carries its previous owner's additions, and a travel trailer puts its tongue load on the tow vehicle's hitch and through its rear axle. Weigh the loaded rig at a public scale and check it against the tow vehicle's payload, rear-axle and hitch ratings.
