01 What makes the 2019 24RBS different
The Jay Flight 24RBS is one of Jayco's Jay Flight travel trailers, the mass-market nameplate and the volume seller in Jayco's towable range. This page covers one model year of it — the 2019 24RBS, exactly as Jayco published it — because the numbers that decide whether your truck can pull this trailer are not the same from one year to the next.
For the 2019 model year Jayco published a 7,500-pound GVWR on a 5,605-pound dry weight, 1,895 pounds of published cargo capacity, a 625-pound dry tongue weight. That dry tongue is 11% of the dry weight, inside the 10–15% band conventionally quoted for a bumper-pull trailer. Tongue weight is not fixed — it moves with how the trailer is loaded, and weight added ahead of the axles raises it. A tongue load in that range wants a weight-distribution hitch, and the tow vehicle's tongue-weight limit is a separate number from its trailer-weight limit — check the loaded tongue against the hitch receiver's rating and the vehicle's payload, not against the tow rating alone.
Against the 2018 build of the same floorplan, 5 published fields moved. The full comparison is in section 02, and it is drawn from two separate verified factory records rather than from one record and an assumption about the other.
A 2019 trailer is 7 model years old as of 2026, which puts it squarely in used-buyer territory. Section 05 sets out what to inspect on a travel trailer of this age — tyre date codes, roof and seam sealant, slide seals, and the soft-floor and delamination checks that separate a tidy coach from an expensive one.
How the 24RBS differs from the other 117 Jay Flight floorplans. Most distinctive first. Each rank counts only the siblings that publish that field, and a figure most of them share is left out. Not every one of these pages covers the same model years as this one (2018–2019); each figure is the one its own page prints, so a rank compares pages, not one model year.

Specifications by model year
This floorplan has a published factory record for 2 model years here, 2018 to 2019. The specification does not hold still: dry weight runs from 5,505 lb (2018) to 5,605 lb (2019). The published sleeping capacity changes across the years: 4-6 in 2018, 4 - 5 in 2019. Each year’s complete record is printed separately below, carrying only that year’s own published figures and source. Nothing is copied across from a neighbouring year.
| Model year | Dry (UVW) | GVWR | Cargo (CCC) | Dry tongue | Length | Sleeps | Tire size |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2018 | 5,505 | 7,500 | 1,995 | 625 | 28' 8" | 4-6 | Not published |
| 2019 | 5,605 | 7,500 | 1,895 | 625 | 28' 8" | 4 - 5 | Not published |
Every row is that model year’s own record from Jayco’s factory brochure for that year. The figures in the tow-critical placard at the top of this page are the 2019 record from the source this catalogue originally profiled. On the weights, overall length and tire size, that record and Jayco’s own 2019 factory brochure agree on every field both of them publish. Exterior height is not compared: Jayco publishes a bare height, a with-A/C height and a with-2nd-A/C height, and the single height row carried here cannot be matched to one of them, so no claim is made either way.

What changed for the 2018 model year
2018 is the earliest model year of the 24RBS on this site, so there is no earlier record to set it against. Section 01 compares it with 2019.
Source for 2018. Specifications reflect the 2018 model year as published by Jayco on its own 2018 factory brochure for this product line, and are dry factory figures for a base unit. Options, dealer-installed equipment and cargo all add weight. A travel trailer puts its tongue load on the tow vehicle's hitch and through its rear axle, so the loaded tongue must be checked against the receiver's rating and the vehicle's payload, not against its tow rating. Dry weight plus cargo capacity ties out exactly to the published GVWR for this model year. CamperTrailers.com publishes verified manufacturer data and is not affiliated with Jayco, Inc.

Towing it
Check your vehicle. Enter the ratings from your owner’s manual and the door-pillar placard.
Compares your figures with this page’s published GVWR (7,500 lb) and the upper loaded tongue estimate (1,125 lb, a rule of thumb). Your vehicle’s placard and the trailer’s own weight label govern.
Loaded range: 10–15% of GVWR on the tongue, a rule of thumb, not a measurement of this unit. No truck ratings or hitch classes (why; NHTSA, DOT HS 809 433).
03 What changed for the 2019 model year
Jayco changed 5 of the published fields between the 2018 and 2019 24RBS. Every figure in both columns is that model year's own factory record — nothing here is carried across from the other year.
| Field | 2018 | 2019 | Change |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dry weight (UVW) | 5,505 | 5,605 | +100 lb |
| Cargo capacity (CCC) | 1,995 | 1,895 | -100 lb |
| Interior height | 81" | 6' 9" | — |

| 2019 | 5,605 | 7,500 | 625 | 5 | Not published |
Every row is that model year's own factory record, and each year links to its own page. The fuller table at the top of this page adds cargo capacity and names any model year that is deliberately not published here.
Sleeps changed for 2019
Sleeps was Not published for 2018 and is 4 - 5 for 2019. Both figures are the manufacturer's own for their year.
Where these numbers come from
Every figure on this page is read from Jayco's own 2019 factory brochure for the 24RBS — one source, one model year, no blending. The all-years parent page sets this year beside every other model year we hold, and where the record this catalogue originally profiled disagrees with Jayco's own document for that year, both figures are published there and neither is adjusted.
Fields Jayco does not publish for 2019
For this model year the factory record omits: Exterior Width (with slides out), Exterior Height, Tire Size, Propane Unit (lbs), Propane Unit (lbs) (Optional), Water Heater, Furnace BTU, Furnace, Auto-ignition (BTU output), # of outside storage compartments. Those rows read “Not published” on this page. They are deliberately not filled in from an adjacent model year — a neighbouring year's figure is an inference about this one, not a measurement of it.
04 Buying a 2019 24RBS at 7 model years old
Tyres are almost certainly past their service age
At 7 years old, the original the factory tire size will be well beyond the five-to-seven-year age window RV tyres are normally replaced on, regardless of tread depth. Budget for a full set plus the spare unless there is a dated receipt.
Water is what kills these, and it is the cheapest thing to check
Press the walls and floor around the entry, the slide openings, the rear wall and under the front cap. Soft spots, a wavy or rippled sidewall, or a stained ceiling are delamination and water ingress, and they are structural rather than cosmetic.
Appliance and component life
Absorption fridges, water heaters and A/C units commonly need attention somewhere in the second decade. Run every appliance on both gas and mains before agreeing a price.
Weigh it before you tow it
Every weight on this page is a DRY factory figure for the 2019 model year. A used trailer carries its previous owner's additions, and a travel trailer puts its tongue load on the tow vehicle's hitch and through its rear axle. Weigh the loaded rig at a public scale and check it against the tow vehicle's payload, rear-axle and hitch ratings.
05 How it compares — and to its other years
The same floorplan one model year earlier, with its own published weights.
Every Jay Flight floorplan this catalogue holds a verified factory record for, with its own published weights.
06 Loading it for a trip
A full 82-gallon fresh tank is about 684 lb of water (water counts as cargo: 49 CFR 571.110 S9.3.2), 36% of the 24RBS’s 1,895 lb cargo capacity, leaving 1,211 lb (242 lb per rated berth). Across 118 Jay Flight floorplans the water share runs 13% to 47%, and 17 give up more than this one. Nearest on that share: Jay Flight 225MLSW at 36% and Jay Flight 32BHDS at 36%. Your own unit’s figure is on the label inside its entry door (49 CFR 571.110 S9.3.3).

11 NHTSA safety record
NHTSA holds 25 recall campaigns and 80 owner complaints against the Jay Flight line. They are counted separately: a recall is a confirmed defect with a remedy, a complaint one owner’s unverified account.
What to look at on a used one. Across the 80 complaints filed on this line the most-reported components are equipment (42%), unknown or other (12%) and structure (11%).
Recall coverage here is not complete, and complaints are owners’ unverified reports (how this record is built). Check a specific VIN at NHTSA before you buy. Full tables are on the Jay Flight line page.
