01 What makes it unique

The Catalina Legacy Edition 323MAZE is the line’s residence-grade flagship — a triple-slide rear-kitchen couples’ coach built around a GE residential-style french-door 16.4-cubic-foot refrigerator, the only Catalina that swaps the line’s standard 10.7-cubic-foot 12V unit for a full residential fridge. The rear kitchen anchors a wide-open living area, the front holds a private bedroom, and three slides push the walls out for a genuinely roomy interior. Nominal sleeping is four; this is a two-person, live-aboard-comfort layout rather than a family plan, and it is the one Legacy coach that omits the optional power theater seating in favor of its kitchen-and-fridge focus.

At 9,130 pounds unloaded and 37 feet, the 323MAZE is a three-quarter-ton tow with a 2,000-pound cargo capacity — a healthier payload than the 303RKDS despite the bigger body. It is loaded out of the box: standard 50-amp service, standard washer/dryer prep, and dual 10-foot and 13-foot power awnings, on top of the line’s 60,000-BTU tankless water heater and 13,500-BTU ducted heat-pump air conditioner. A 35,000-BTU furnace with residential in-floor ducted heat handles cold weather, and a second air conditioner (up to the triple-18K Furrion setup) is available. Solid-surface counters, aluminum wheels and a porcelain toilet are standard Legacy fare.

Construction is the same metal-sided value build as the rest of the line — a Norco powder-coated steel I-beam frame, a Platinum .024-inch aluminum exterior with a smooth radius front, a seamless Alpha roof membrane and a 5/8-inch StableDeck floor — with JBL Aura audio and a 600-watt solar prep. For a couple who wants a residential kitchen, a real french-door fridge and triple-slide living space at a price still well below comparable laminated-aluminum coaches, the 323MAZE is the line’s comfort flagship.

Overall length and height are drawn true to scale from the published figures, and the end view uses the same scale. Axle count is as published; axle position, wheel size and the nose profile are schematic. This is a size drawing, not a floorplan, and not a claim about body shape.

Holding tanks

Published tank capacities on one scale. A full fresh tank is about 317 lbs of water — roughly 16% of this plan’s 2,000 lb cargo capacity, before you load anything else.

These graphics are generated from the same verified record that builds the table above, and are published under this site’s own licence — nothing here is traced from, or derived from, a manufacturer drawing or photo. Where a figure is not published for this plan, the graphic that would need it is omitted rather than estimated. The full record is in the published dataset.

What it takes to tow this

Built from this floorplan’s verified weights. We publish the trailer side only.

Minimum tow rating your vehicle needs11,130 lb
Published dry tongue weight1,236 lb
Loaded tongue weight, typical range1,236–1,670 lb
Minimum receiver hitch capacity11,130 lb towed / 1,670 lb tongue
The tongue weight above is dry. It is the figure the manufacturer publishes for an empty trailer. Loaded — with water, propane, batteries and your gear — it runs higher, which is why the range row uses loaded weight. Sizing your truck off the dry number under-budgets your payload.
The arithmetic that actually binds. Open your driver’s door and read the payload figure on the yellow-and-white sticker — that number is specific to your truck as built. Subtract from it: loaded tongue weight (use the range above), every passenger, everything in the bed and cab, and the weight-distributing hitch itself where one is used. What is left is your margin. Payload, not tow rating, is what most half-ton owners run out of first.

We do not publish tow ratings for specific trucks. A single model can vary by thousands of pounds depending on engine, axle ratio, cab, drivetrain and package — the only authoritative figure is the one on your own door jamb. Loaded tongue percentages are industry convention for travel trailers (10–15% of loaded weight), not a measurement of this unit. Hitch classes are not used here as a rating: SAE J684 covers trailers to 10,000 lb GVWR and does not define Class V, and capacity boundaries differ between manufacturers — read the rating stamped on your hitch. On this plan the convention band’s low end fell below the published dry figure, so the range starts at the published dry weight instead — loaded is never lighter than dry.

03 Coachmen Catalina floorplan family

Coachmen's Catalina is one of the highest-volume value travel-trailer nameplates in North America, spanning several sub-lines: the lighter Summit Series 7, the mainstream Summit Series 8, the full-feature Legacy Edition, the Trail Blazer toy haulers and the Destination park trailers. The 323MAZE on this page is highlighted; the other profiled plans link to their own pages. Profiled here are breadth-spanning Summit 8 and Legacy Edition floorplans — the rest of the roster is catalogued on the line hub and profiled in demand order.

Every Catalina is built on a Norco electromagnetic powder-coated cambered steel I-beam frame with full-length outriggers, a 5/8-inch tongue-and-groove StableDeck floor, a Platinum .024-inch aluminum (metal-sided) exterior with a smooth aluminum radius front, and a seamless Alpha roof membrane with a lifetime warranty. Standard equipment is full 12-volt residential: a GE 10.7-cubic-foot 12V refrigerator, a GE 60,000-BTU tankless water heater, a GE 13,500-BTU ducted air conditioner with a heat pump, JBL Aura audio and a 600-watt solar prep. The Legacy Edition adds solid-surface kitchen counters, upgraded aluminum wheels, washer/dryer prep, a larger awning, a full outside camp kitchen and available BAL auto-leveling. Lengths, weights and equipment change with options, sub-line and model year — always confirm against the unit's own weight sticker. Additional Summit, Legacy, Trail Blazer and Destination floorplans are catalogued on the line hub.

04 What owners & reviewers report

The only Catalina with a residential fridge

A GE residential-style french-door 16.4-cubic-foot refrigerator replaces the line’s standard 10.7-cubic-foot 12V unit — the defining feature of this flagship.

Triple slide, standard 50-amp and W/D prep

Three slides, standard 50-amp service, standard washer/dryer prep and dual 10-foot and 13-foot awnings make it the most residential coach in the line.

Healthier payload than its size suggests

A 2,000-lb cargo capacity on a 37-foot coach beats the shorter 303RKDS — real headroom for a live-aboard couple.

Wants a 3/4-ton tow

At 9,130 lbs unloaded and a 1,236-lb hitch this is a heavy trailer; match it carefully to your truck’s door-jamb rating.

Selling price runs below the placard

Dealer MSRP placards run in the mid-$50,000s to high-$60,000s while 2026 selling prices commonly land near $48,000; the figure shown is dealer-typical selling and is flagged.

06 Loading it for a trip

This floorplan carries its water comfortably. A full 38-gallon fresh tank is roughly 16% of the 2,000-pound cargo capacity, leaving the 323MAZE with a usable gear budget even when you tow full.

Weight budgetFigureWhat it means

Cargo budget left with a full fresh tank1,683 lb16% of this plan’s capacity is spent before a single bag is loaded.
Per sleeping position, water aboard421 lbA rough share of what is left across the 4 berths this plan sleeps.

The published dry tongue weight of 1,236 pounds is 14% of the 9,130-pound dry weight, which sits inside the 10–15% band usually quoted for stable towing. It is still a dry figure: loading the front pass-through and the fresh tank both push it up.

Nothing above changes the ceiling. Loaded to its 11,130-pound GVWR the 323MAZE is towing 2,000 pounds more than its 9,130-pound dry figure, and that is the number your vehicle has to be rated for — not the brochure weight.

Tank balance is generous here: 38 gallons of fresh against 60 grey and 28 black, so waste capacity keeps pace with supply and the fresh tank is the constraint that ends a dry stay.

07 Where this floorplan sits

Ranked by GVWR, the 323MAZE sits 19 of 20 in the Coachmen Catalina line: 11,130 pounds against a line that runs from 6,518 to 11,458 pounds. That position is the useful thing to know, because the plans immediately either side of it are the real alternatives.

Either side of it in the same line: Coachmen Catalina 313RLTS is 131 pounds lighter at 10,999 lb GVWR; and Coachmen Catalina 333DORM is 328 pounds heavier at 11,458 lb GVWR.

Against the 323MAZE: the Cherokee Wolf Den 306MM is 30 lb lighter and 3 ft longer and sleeps 2 more; the Zinger 340LR is 70 lb heavier and 1 ft longer and sleeps 2 more; the Campsite Reserve 20JW is 75 lb heavier and 1 ft shorter. Those are differences in the published numbers only — what they cost, how they are built and how they live are separate questions each of those pages answers on its own terms.

Those are the nearest travel trailers from other lines by weight — one per line, picked by proximity on that figure and nothing else. They are listed so the same tow vehicle can be checked against real alternatives, not because they are equivalent inside; layout, build and price diverge sharply across that group.

For scale, the Coachmen Catalina floorplans profiled here run 4,647 to 9,130 pounds dry and 26 to 38 feet of exterior length across 20 plans. Where a floorplan falls in that spread usually says more about which vehicle can tow it, and which site it fits, than the layout name does.

Every profiled floorplan in this line, with the full weight table, is on the Coachmen Catalina line hub.

08 Common questions about the 323MAZE

How much does the 323MAZE weigh?

It leaves the factory at 9,130 pounds dry, and its manufacturer-set loaded ceiling (GVWR) is 11,130 pounds. Real towing weight lands between the two and depends entirely on what you load. Use the GVWR when matching a tow vehicle; the dry figure is only useful for comparing floorplans against each other.

How much can the 323MAZE carry?

Cargo carrying capacity is 2,000 pounds. That is the whole budget: water, propane, batteries, gear and everything you bring. Filling the 38-gallon fresh tank uses about 317 pounds of that.

What is the tongue weight of the 323MAZE?

The published dry tongue weight is 1,236 pounds. It is measured empty; loaded, it runs higher, and it comes out of your tow vehicle’s payload rather than its tow rating.

What size tow vehicle does the 323MAZE need?

Your vehicle needs a tow rating of at least 11,130 pounds — this floorplan’s GVWR — and enough payload left over for the hitch load, passengers and anything in the bed. This site does not publish tow ratings for specific vehicles, because one truck model varies by thousands of pounds across engine, axle ratio, cab and package. The figure that governs is the payload sticker on your own door jamb.

How many people does the 323MAZE sleep?

It is rated to sleep 4. Rated sleeping positions include convertible furniture, so count the beds against how you actually travel rather than against the number.

What are the tank capacities on the 323MAZE?

Fresh 38 gallons, grey 60 gallons, black 28 gallons. Tank sizes set how long the floorplan can sit away from hookups, and the smallest of the three is what ends the stay.

How long is the 323MAZE?

Exterior length is 37' 0". Measure against your site length and your storage before committing — the exterior figure is the one that has to fit, and it includes the tongue or pin box.

Every figure in these answers is read from this page’s verified specification table. Where the manufacturer publishes nothing, the question is not answered rather than estimated.

09 What this page publishes, and what it does not

This catalog tracks 18 specification fields per floorplan. Named sources publish 16 of them for the 323MAZE. The rest are not shown, because the alternative is reading a figure across from a sibling floorplan or from what the segment usually does — and a number nobody published is worth less than an admitted gap.

Not published for this floorplan: interior height, tire specification. If you find one of these in a manufacturer document for this plan, it belongs on this page.

The completeness figure at the foot of this page (93%) measures the same thing on the full field set: it is a measurement of how much this floorplan’s manufacturer publishes, not of how much research went into the page.

Values on this page carrying an asterisk were derived by arithmetic from published figures, or come from a single source, rather than being printed directly by the manufacturer. The flag travels with the number into the downloadable spec sheet.

How every figure here was sourced and checked is set out on the methodology page.

11 NHTSA safety record

This floorplan belongs to the Coachmen Catalina line, and NHTSA holds 35 recall campaigns and 39 owner complaints against that line. They are separate records and are not added together — a recall is a manufacturer-confirmed defect with a remedy; a complaint is one owner’s account, which NHTSA does not verify.

What to look at on a used one. Across the 39 complaints filed on this line the most-reported components are equipment (36%), tires (23%) and wheels (8%). That is where owners of this family have had trouble, so it is where an inspection is worth the time.

Recall coverage is not complete — our harvest of NHTSA’s recall API ran 1,556 queries, of which 0 failed and 242 returned an explicit zero. A line can still be under-reported where NHTSA files a roster under a parent name, or where a match rests on the wording of the recall rather than its model field. Complaints come from the complete bulk file but are unverified and self-selected: a high count tracks how many units a line sold at least as much as how well it was built. Check a specific VIN at NHTSA before you buy. Full tables are on the Coachmen Catalina line page.
