01 What makes it unique

The Eagle HT 27MLC is the smallest Eagle fifth wheel and the one aimed squarely at half-ton trucks. A single slide opens a mid-living layout with a raised front bedroom — the fifth-wheel advantage of a separate, elevated sleeping area — in a 33-foot coach light enough to be towed by a properly equipped half-ton. The Eagle HT build carries through: Stronghold VBL™ laminated walls, an 8-foot-5 main ceiling and Climate Shield insulation.

It rides on 4-Star Handling — Goodyear Endurance tires, MORryde CRE-3000 suspension — with a 10,300-pound GVWR on an 8,525-pound dry weight, leaving 1,775 pounds of payload. The dry pin weight is 1,740 pounds, within half-ton territory when the truck is correctly equipped, and the tanks are generous for the size — a 52-gallon fresh, an 82-gallon gray and a 10 cubic-foot 12-volt refrigerator.

It sleeps two, trading berth count for the comfort and storage of a fifth-wheel layout, at an MSRP near $58,000. For couples who want to move up from a travel trailer to a fifth wheel without buying a three-quarter-ton truck, the 27MLC is the most accessible entry in the Eagle line.

03 The Eagle floorplan family

Jayco's Eagle is the brand's premium towable family, and it splits three ways. The full-size Eagle is the flagship fifth wheel — Stronghold VBL™ laminated walls, 5-Star Handling, the HELIX dual-15,000-BTU cooling system and a 16 cubic-foot residential refrigerator. The Eagle HT ("half-ton") line is engineered to be towable by a properly equipped half-ton truck, and Jayco offers it as both a fifth wheel and a travel trailer — lighter, 4-Star Handling with Goodyear Endurance tires, and lower pin or tongue weights. The 27MLC on this page is highlighted; each other profiled plan links to its own page. The full Eagle catalogue runs to dozens of floorplans across all three; the highest-demand layouts are detailed here and the rest are catalogued on the line hub.

Eagle HT is Jayco's half-ton-towable premium line, sold as both a fifth wheel and a travel trailer on the same residential build. It sits above Jay Feather and below the full-size Eagle. Pin and tongue weights are dry factory figures and climb with cargo — even a half-ton-rated fifth wheel needs its loaded pin checked against the truck's payload and rear-axle rating. Additional Eagle HT floorplans are catalogued on the line hub.

04 What owners & reviewers report

Half-ton fifth-wheel entry

A 1,740-lb dry pin and 8,525-lb dry weight bring fifth-wheel towing within reach of a capable half-ton.

Raised front bedroom

The fifth-wheel layout gives a separate, elevated sleeping area — more privacy and storage than a trailer.

Generous tanks for the size

82-gallon gray and 52-gallon fresh suit extended couples’ stays in a compact 5W.

Verify the pin on a half-ton

Even a 1,740-lb dry pin grows loaded — confirm your truck’s payload and rear axle rating before towing.
